abruptly cancelled my reservation at last minute

I booked a table at Pasta Evangelists in Farringdon a day in advance and confirmed the following morning. I then received a pro-forma email around three hours before my booking, bluntly stating my table was canceled. No explanation, no apology. When I phoned the restaurant I was abruptly told they now had a private pasta tasting. I asked to speak to a manager. They Hung up. Diabolical customer service.

Avoid like the plague

I had 2 previous great experiences of Pasta Evangelists home recipe kits but it all went horribly wrong in December 2025.

I ordered another home recipe kit using a combination of gift vouchers and my own cash. On the day of delivery I got an email from Yodel saying my parcel was damaged and to contact PE. I contacted PE who quickly arranged for a replacement delivery to be sent a few days later.

My replacement order was due for delivery between 3 and 5pm. I tracked it online just before 5 to find that Yodel had stated that delivery had been refused. This was categorically untrue, I had been sitting at my front window watching out for the delivery and nothing arrived.

Very disappointed by this point, I asked PE for a refund, which was processed as part cash, part account credit, given the gift vouchers.

Fast forward to January 2026, I placed an order purely to use up my £18 my account credit. Delivery was due today and I received an email from Yodel this morning saying they can't deliver and to contact PE.

Given this is the third failed order within a month, I asked PE if they could refund my bank account as for obvious reasons I don't want to order from them again so store credit is useless. However, they said they cannot do this due to "system limitation" on their side. So I am stuck with £18 I can't use because every time I try, they don't fulfil my order!

Truly disappointing experience, would not recommend.

Poor delivery and order fulfillment

When they actually deliver and deliver on time (rarely) the pasta is tasty enough for the price and convenience. We used to order here quite regularly. BUT they are at the mercy of Uber to deliver so you can watch on in despair as rider after driver accepts then cancels your delivery and eventually they cancel it altogether. We have also had times when they've called to ask to change our order and we haven't been refunded the difference in price when the dish that was available was cheaper than what we'd ordered originally.

The only redeeming thing out of ALL of…

The only redeeming thing out of ALL of this is the angel that is Katrina who really was trying to get things organised for us. We placed an order at 5:40pm through the JustEat app and for nearly 6 HOURS, our order was getting pushed back. There was no way to contact the restaurant, it took over an hour of searching to find any kind of phone number and then I got put through to Katrina who really was trying to help at 8:43pm and it then took the restaurant until 9:01pm to call and inform me some choices were no longer available, fair enough, I chose from the substitute options, they offered a dessert on the house and then we waited some more. It then gets to 10:11pm for me to call again as still the number is getting pushed back and back and Katrina then gave us a discount code and assured us she would chase up the kitchen (honestly such a sweetheart) but then the kitchen closed at 11pm with us having nothing delivered. This brought us to another nightmare with JustEat as the restaurant hadn't marked the order as cancelled or delivered so we then had to fight over 4 different calls to try and get a refund. Honestly very disheartening experience, the communication is appaling and having worked at a restaurant with a JustEat machine, I know there is a way for them to have gotten through to me earlier and there are so many other measures and steps that could have been taken to avoid this whole scenario.

Shout out to Katrina…

I just wanted to shout out to Katrina who has helped me massively today. I ordered a Pasta kit from their website and in transit got battered and they broke the salt container and it was everywhere. Katrina responded within 2 hours and had sent out a new kit to be delivered in time for Christmas still as it's a Christmas present. Don't think I've ever received such a fast response. Incredible!

Thrown out for having a nut allergy

We didn’t even get to eat here! I booked a table online and stated one member of the party had a nut allergy and all was accepted. When we arrived they asked about allergies and so I stated it again. The waiter returned and asked if it was severe, to which I said yes. We were then told to leave! Beware if you have a moderate or mild allergy as apparently it is ok for you to be exposed to the allergens! Feel really let down, full on discrimination against people with allergies. I didn’t expect this when every other restaurant I have ever been to has been able to manage.

Cancelled order

Ordered some food on just eat. The order was canceled an hour after I ordered it. No phone call to explain why. I am working away so I now have to order from somewhere else and start the wait again. Absolute rubbish service.

HORRIBLE DO NOT RECOMMEND NO VALUE FOR MONEY HOREIBLE FOOD

I usually don't leave reviews but this experience need to be shared.
My wife was happy to order some take away dinner and PastaEvangelist was choosed. But we simply got ripped of £55 of shameful food
The lasagna was the largest one and as big as any supermarkets 400 gr size definitely not for 2 people and a mediocre product at that for £25 pound left me hungry and angry totally not a value for money thought, and
I am Sicilian so the parmigiana was the easy choice but we got a little under cooked aubergine skin 4 inches long and a container full of tomato and bread crumbs mix ABSOLUTELY embarrassing
After spending £ 55 Sterling we had to raid the fridge to get some dinner in our body..
Totally disappointed what a shame

The deal is not really for you …

I received a Black Friday offer that caught my interest but on thorough investigation discovered that it was London only and for pasta classes. I responded to the mail and politely suggested that I should only receive deals that I could actually take up, and that it would be nice to receive deals as a loyal customer. PE responded to say that if I wanted to unsubscribe from the mail list they would do it . Context .. I’ve been using PE for 9 years , it used to be a monthly treat, and I also bought it for my neighbour and recommended friends and was rewarded in the past with free bread etc , not huge gifts but appreciated. Over the last few years the deals have been replaced by invitations to join beer, gin or wine clubs. I’ll assume this cross selling is good for PE but less good for loyal customers who just want the occasional incentive to keep buying. So taking PEs wise advice I have unsubscribed and paused my pasta plan potentially indefinitely. Reading the latest reviews here is interesting . Most people happy with the classes , however many people unhappy with the core product, ie the company’s foundations. Is this going to be another company that disappears because they’ve lost the plot .
