I want to share something real.
I want to share something real.
Few months ago, I got a message from an IT expert coach Patrick McGibney.
He promised to boost my IT services business.
At first, I said “No, I don’t need your service.”
But he didn’t stop.
Every day, motivational messages, big promises, big dreams.
He said things like:
👉 “You just need the right push.”
👉 “I’ll take your business to the next level.”
👉 “You’ll thank yourself later.”
Finally, I gave in.
He said the price is $6000 for 3 months, but if I go monthly, it’s $2200/month.
It was $200 extra every month, but I chose monthly—
Because I wanted to test first before committing long-term.
But once I joined, I got shocked.
The course was like free YouTube videos—
Just basic knowledge and endless motivation.
No real strategy, no deep insights.
It felt like a trap.
So, I told him I don’t want to continue.
I said, “Our financial condition isn’t good. I can’t afford $2200/month.”
He replied, “Absolutely fine. No problem.”
But here’s where I made a mistake…
I forgot to cancel the subscription,
And the system charged me again.
I told him the payment was by mistake and asked for a refund.
He said, “Okay, we’ll refund it.”
But later, he said,
“We’ll cut 25% as processing fees.”
Even though it was $500, I agreed.
Then… silence for a week.
Finally, he said:
“No refund. You can take one extra month of service instead.”
But I didn’t want it.
Why pay for something that doesn’t help me?
Now I understood his real intention:
It was never about helping,
It was just about keeping the money.
So, I contacted my bank.
They took up the issue with Visa.
The decision came in my favor.
I stopped all contact with him.
Still, he kept messaging me:
“Please pay for one more month. I’m giving you service.”
But I had clearly said—I don’t want it.
My Honest Review of Patrick:
More motivational speaker than business expert.
1. Has little knowledge of the IT industry.
2. Courses are low quality—worse than free content on YouTube.
3. Very expensive for almost no results.
4. Even if you stay with him for 6 months,
You’ll struggle to get a single quality lead.
Lesson:
Today, many people are not selling services—they’re selling hope.
They use inspiring words to win your trust…
But once you pay,
You realize
Hope is all they have. No results. No real support.
So don’t fall for loud promises.
Test. Validate. Walk away if it doesn’t feel right.
Because people who sell hope without delivery are not coaches.
