We had no serious problem with Paul…

We had no serious problem with Paul Camper and rental period was good. Everything was as expected. We only tried to extend our rental period and called customer service but it was not easy to reach. So I dropped a mail to them and afterwards problem solved. The rental period & handover was smooth. I recommend to people who would like to use.

No coronavirus pandemic refund

The coronavirus pandemic is beyond anybodys control. The vehicle wont be collected, and sadly nobody can travel, and yet the company and the owner of the campervan refuse to refund the money paid. The only advice from Paul Camper was that they cannot refund as it would cause the company to fail.
As a travel company I feel for their staff, but I would never book again with Paul Camper and will have to write off the money as a poor investment.
Find a reputable company to book with, if it costs a few more dollars, ultimately it will be worth it.

We lost €140 due to PaulCamper's lack of integrity

My partner and I had a terrible experience with PaulCamper.
We hired a motorhome under the impression that we had unlimited kilometres. We gave our initial estimate when booking, not knowing the specifics of our road trip and therefore no way of knowing our specific kilometres. Since there was no mention of charges for additional kilometres, we drove to our hearts content and explored beautiful Europe without a care.
Upon returning the vehicle, the owner had a look at the odometer and told us that we had exceeded our allotted KMs and that we now had to pay a fee for every KM we drove over our original estimate. In addition, the owner insisted that the car was not clean enough. We had opted to clean it ourselves at a car wash and it was in a perfectly acceptable condition for a returning hire car. The owner, however, expected a professional detail clean and insisted that we pay a fee for them to go and have one done. Finally, they found a minor scratch on the front bumper (possibly from a stick) and insisted on another fee to have it buffed out.
Since our hot water and fridge hadn't worked for the duration of the trip (and since we were running late to catch our return flight), we settled on €100 to cover the professional clean and buffing for the scratch. However, when it came to the additional kilometres, we insisted that the PaulCamper contract had not mentioned any fee for extra KMs, and that the initial KMs when booking were merely an estimate. After some back and forth, the owner decided to draw up a contract that said they would keep €140 from our bond for the extra KMs, and that they would contact PaulCamper the next day to find out if we were liable to pay. If we weren't liable to pay, then they would return the money immediately, and proceeded to take down our bank details.
PaulCamper then spoke with the owner and told them that they could not charge for the extra KMs. However, rather than returning our €140, PaulCamper sided with the owner, telling them to keep it to help cover the additional cleaning and buffing for the scratch. We replied to PaulCamper, explaining that the owner had already kept €100 to cover those two things, and that they needed to return the unfairly retained €140. We then sent a photo of the contract we had signed with the owner which stated the purpose of the two amounts, and how they would return the €140 if it was realised that they could not charge for the extra KMs. PaulCamper then replied saying that whilst there is no fee for additional kilometres, they still believe that €240 is "a fair price to pay" for driving 700KMs over the initial estimate, and for returning the car without having had a professional detail clean. They have made it out to seem like we returned the car trashed and scratched when in actuality, it was perfectly clean inside and out, and the scratch on the front was so small and faint that they initially thought it was just dust!
PaulCamper needs to honour their contract with customers and act as unbiased adjudicators when mediating complaints. They have unfairly sided with the owner rather than honouring the contract which should be the definitive source of truth. PaulCamper needs to hold the landlord accountable to the contract or else personally reimburse us for the amount that was unfairly retained.
If you are thinking about using PaulCamper, I would highly encourage you to think again. We have found them to be untrustworthy and dishonest - definitely not the kinds of qualities you want from a sharing platform.

PaulCampers Customer service sucks!

PaulCampers Customer service sucks!

It was extremely disappointing for us how PaulCamper makes the tenants responsible for any repairs or damage which happens during the trip. In our case the exhaust pipe broke off in Scandinavia, and according to PaulCamper's rules it is our responsibility to cover the repair costs for it. Not only did we loose valuable travel time, but we also expected a customer service policy like for example from Amazon or AirBnB which aims at maximum customer satisfaction, instead of trying to screw over the tenants.

So dear Dirk Fehse, please take this as constructive feedback in order to make PaulCamper as great as it claims to be!

Thanks!

Simon at Paul Camper receives the best…

Simon at Paul Camper receives the best recommendations from our family. He has shown us permission and supported us through the discovery of an unfortunate damage course on our rented camper. He is diplomatic, kind and precise in his guidance. All the best from Denmark to you. We will certainly use Paul Camper again. Despite we experienced what one does not want happen on holiday. An injury to the rented vehicle's interior.

Poor customer service

Website and handling is great - until you actually rent a car and run into issues. Worse, if you rent a camper van that is not road worthy and starts to overheat 50km after pick up. Even worse, if it is almost the weekend and there is NO contact phone number for weekends. Paul Camper was apologetic but did not stand up for the massive issues caused by a defective rental car they rented via their system. Our summer holiday was completely ruined, we lost money because we had booked camp sites in advance etc etc. DO NOT USE THEM.

Liebe Teresa,

Dear Teresa,

I am very sorry that your journey couldn't take place as planned.

Your booking has been canceled / abandoned and your money (the full rental price) was refunded. In such a case we like to help finding a replacement camper in order to make the journey possible.
You find the 24/7 emergency number of the road assistance in a red box on your handover protocol. Since the breakdown of a camper is an unexpected situation, you may not always look right there. So we're happy about your suggestion, where we could rather place the number so it will not be overlooked.
If we can do something for you, we look forward to your call under +49 30 609 84 97 22 or your message to info@paulcamper.de.

Best regards from PaulCamper
