Payment Depot - horrible rates and servie after buyout.

I used Payment Depot for years, and they had great rates for keyed entry. I averaged 2.6%. But after Stax bought Payment Depot I am now averaging 3.5%. They probably had some sneaky fine print to pull this off without proper notice. Now in 2026 I noticed the funding time is 3 days plus vs 1 day like clockwork prior to Stax. Run from Payment Depot and Stax, you can do better with Quickbooks.

Do yourself a favor and go directly to a POS company.

We signed up with this company accidentally. We thought we were signing up with Clover, but when we realized that wasnt the case and they were overcharging us, we cancelled with them, or so we thought. After a few attempts, they are still charging us, and have stole a couple thousand dollars and refuse to do anything for us. We are having to close our bank account and open a new one, to stop them from charging us. Beware that they are an unnecessary middleman in the POS world, and have very crooked practices.

SCAMMMM I WORKED THERE ! This place is a scam. I worked here for two weeks. Let me tell you all you are not being red black in any account. All we are doing is Google and random numbers and telling you that you’re paying too much on your merchant account and which we don’t even have the merchant account Information but we lie to get you all to send us statements and we tell you all that is not a sales place, but we send your statements next-door to the sales place. It is all a scam. You’re not paying more than 2% we were taught to say that do not send them your merchant information.

unreliable and hidden and changing fees

They start the service at low price and good customer service but then they keep increasing the price and no one responds to email or anything. They also keep coming up with reasons to charge more. Without notice they increase the per transaction price and monthly billing fees. They also don't care about loyalty

This company went from amazing to worst

This company has gone downhill ever since they got purchased by Stax. They went from great customer service to almost nonexistent. They used to have simple fees and were interchange with out markup. Now they weasel all sorts of fees without notice. We've been a customer since 2019 and we process a lot of high ticket items that range from $30-50k per transaction. The company recently flagged our account for processing too much so we asked them to raise our limits and provided all of the necessary documents to make the happen. We asked to allow $60k transactions (Keep in mind we've been with Payment Depot for 5 years and never had an issue or chargeback). We provide them with bank statements showing we do a lot of volume only for them to come back saying "the credit team is comfortable with increasing the Average Ticket to $6,500, Monthly Volume to 75,000, and the High-Ticket limit to 20k." Why the heck am I going to pay a company that doesn't listen to our needs. We gross over $5 million annually in sales, process $150-200k a month in card transactions and have been doing this for 5 years with Payment Depot only for them to choke us last second. They just lost a long time loyal customer.

They started out well

They started out well, but when acquired by Stax the fees went up, hard to reach customer support. I would not recommend using them, check out BBB reviews of companies before using them!!!!

Got very expensive over time

Got very expensive over time. They were reasonably priced interchange+ processor. Now they are charging membership fees on top. Little by little creeping up. Time to switch.

II cannot recommend this credit card…

II cannot recommend this credit card company. Over the years, they have consistently increased their fees without notifying their customers. Additionally, I have been attempting to contact them for over a week to cancel my account, but they have not responded to any of my calls or messages.

Horrible Customer Service & Business Practices Run As Fast As You Can!!

I am writing to express my severe dissatisfaction with Staxx's handling of a critical financial error and the unacceptable level of customer service provided. An incorrect EIN led to the wrongful withholding of $6,388 from our funds, a mistake that demands immediate correction through your action, not merely by contacting the IRS as incorrectly advised by your team.

The necessity for Staxx to amend this via IRS Form 945 and to process a corrected 1099 form underscores the critical role you play in resolving this error. This issue is compounded by the abysmal customer support experience. The absence of accessible, live support and the delayed, unhelpful email communication reflect a gross negligence towards customer care. This approach not only hinders timely resolution of urgent issues but also showcases a stark disregard for the impact on businesses relying on your services.

Moreover, the experience of escalating fees without transparent communication further exemplifies the lack of respect for client relationships post-sale. This, combined with the inability to address critical financial discrepancies promptly, is unacceptable.

Immediate demands include:

Correct the EIN error and ensure the $6,388 is refunded promptly.
Overhaul your customer service protocols to provide immediate, effective support.
Conduct a transparent review and refund of unjustified fees.
The resolution of these issues is non-negotiable. Staxx's failure to provide adequate support and manage financial transactions responsibly compels me to take further action if not addressed. The importance of rectifying this situation cannot be overstated, as it affects not only our business but the trust in your services.

Defrauded out of $12K in CC Settlements

We discontinued them a year ago because they had horrible customer service and poor responders to problems. We just finished an Audit on June of last year and found their processor Translink defrauded us out of $12K of legitimate charges with the following excuse.
"on June 15, 2022, there was a $228.96 AMEX charge that was an issue, and caused the whole batch not to settle. He said normally we could have called and they would advise to take that one out and re-run, and that would have fixed the problem. But, since that "trouble transaction" as he called it, was in there, it prevented that day's batch from settling, as well as all remaining days, until we closed it about a week later." All those charges were never processed with our customers and we lost $12K of legitimate sales!! No way of recovery now! Stay clear of Payment Depot and Translink.

Stay Away! Payment Depot also know as Stax or…

Payment Depot also know as Stax or Fattmerchant ... I cancelled my service months ago and have the signed cancellation form in my hand and they continue to charge me. They also did the bait and switch from the processing terms that I signed up for. Originally offering a very appealing competitive rate and then raising their fees, tacking on PCI Compliance fees, statistical package fees. Things that other companies include. Seriously? Charging me to get the stats of my account? Overall just a joke of a company and borderline fraudulent. STAY AWAY!

This is a terrible company

This is a terrible company, and I don’t understand the positive reviews here. I have to assume that they are fake. There’s no way to reach anyone. When you call, you will be placed on hold for a long time and then a message comes on saying that “ there is no one to help you at this time, please send a email.” Huh? Then when you send an email, there’s no response. Good luck canceling your service. I finally had to report it as fraud and block them from charging my bank account.

Being Double Charged!

My membership runs from March 2022 to March 2023. So I was paid in full until March or so I thought. Well it turns out that now beginning in November they started charging me $61.57 per month to my credit card for a monthly membership so they are essentially double charging for something I had already paid. It makes me furious what they have done to this company. They were the definition of honesty, transparency, helping the small guy and now they are squeezing us for every penny they can. This used to be a 5-star company and judging by the last 100 reviews it’s on its way to 2 stars within months. They are breaking their model. They are just becoming like everyone else. So my advice is just go back to the old ways and be alert for yearly increases. Switch before the year ends and move on. You might pay more but at least you won’t be rewarding a company that backtracks its commitments and if you’re lucky you might end up with a company with superb customer service.

I have been a merchant for almost 30…

I have been a merchant for almost 30 years. They just renewed my contract and charged me $949 for another year on 2/4/2023. Now less than 2 weeks later they say they are changing the terms to $199 a month from $949 a year. That's a 250% increase. They also are terrible at Ecommerce and support. You get what you pay for. FRAUD
