The difference between my first visit…
The difference between my first visit and this one was night and day. I called ahead about selling a 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max in cosmic orange basically perfect condition, no cosmetic or internal issues, iCloud unlocked, just financed through AT&T. I explained that getting there takes me about 1 hour and 45 minutes each way, so I specifically mentioned that I was only asking for a very rough, non-binding ballpark estimation just to know if the trip made sense. Instead, I got the same exact scripted response repeated back to me. Verbatim. Only the second time was a bit slower, as if they were reading a label to a child.
I still went in, mostly because my first experience here was actually great. But when they evaluated the phone, the offer came in at $500. (I already had other offers in the $550–$650 range, which happens/is fine) I asked, politely, if there was any flexibility. They first said the offer was firm, and I asked if they were sure that they couldn’t do $550- their response was a visibly reluctant, “just to help you out, I can do $510.” The staff member was dismissive in their demeanor in every way as if the way they didn’t really account for anything I said before or during wasn’t enough.
If you can’t give estimates over the phone, that’s understandable and even expected when dealing in tech… but the staff member could improve by recognizing the difference between setting a boundary and shutting down a conversation.
Even a loose range, or a quick explanation of how actual pricing works, would help make someone’s long trip feel intentional over uncertain. . especially considering that offers are determined in store based on condition and market demand. .
Yall, I was so polite to this person and I never leave reviews. I just want to convey that tone matters, is all.
