I would honestly leave a minus score if I could after the nightmare of the last 3 months I have been through with Plymouth Car Sound.
I purchased High-Res audio equipment online and paid over £700 and intrusted Plymouth Car Sound to fit it, A mistake I would later regret!
Immediately after I picked up my car from pcs after the car audio fitting I had electrical problems which started with the loom from the steering wheel to the stereo, sometimes the volume and skip track controls wouldn’t work as they supposed too and other times the volume buttons would operate the dash computer trip distance and mpg details or just wouldn’t work at all.
I contacted Plymouth car sound who asked me to return the car to them so they could check it out as they never knew why the problems with the loom were happening especially as my previous factory fitted loom and car stereo worked with no faults at all, They had no idea why I was having these problems so they asked me to take the car back and drive it myself and make a log of all the faults and tell them what else was happening as they told me they were busy and never had the time to drive my car as the faults were intermittent, I took video logs of all the faults and have video evidence going back to September 2021.
To cut a long story short problems continued and got worse with the stereo controls on the steering wheel and then randomly not even working at all, then days later my clock cluster lights would start flickering and going out completely as if there was some sort of short with the wiring.
When I had my car prior to pcs touching it (which only had 65k miles on the clock) my car was pristine condition with no faults at all, I said to Andy the owner of Plymouth Car Sound that my car was problem free from the last mot up until I had them fit my new car stereo and I put it to him why would I spent over £2,000 on car audio paying Plymouth Car Sound over £700 just to fit the stereo system if my car had major electrical problems? You wouldn’t and I wouldn’t because my car was error free.
I agreed to pay Andy £360 to have my clock cluster sent off to be examined and repaired if needed after he diagnosed it as that being the fault but the company who supposedly looked at them sent them back to Andy at Plymouth Car sound telling Andy there was nothing to repair as they found no fault with my clocks and that they couldn’t repair what’s not broken, now
Later Andy from pcs told me I could buy another set of clocks send them off to this company (a company who’s name I still don’t even know their name as I never was given an invoice) Andy said this company charges £50 to test and examine the clocks for faults and charge another £130 to clone my clocks to the new clocks, Hmm so if the company who repair car clocks charge £50 to check and test if the clocks are faulty so then why did I pay £360.00? With no invoice stating what work has or had been done. I’m no legal expert but isn’t that fraud?!?
Andy got his mate to look at my car who also said it’s my clocks that are faulty but the company who repairs them said they are not faulty.
Meanwhile I the customer of pcs has spent over £1,000 on fitting and clock cluster repairs which were wrongly diagnosed but in the eyes of the company that fix them they are not faulty and didn’t need fixing and I have no invoice showing me what work had been carried out or obviously if they claimed they were not faulty what work could of possibly been done?
I was also told by Andy that my clock cluster repair had a lifetime warranty a warranty I cannot claim as the company who looked at my clocks said they cannot warranty a faultless product.
I now have my car back from pcs in no better condition than the day they returned it to me after they returned it to me after they fitted my car audio system and it’s cost me more money with no results at all just lots of stress and inconvenience for the last 3 months which stated in September and I got my car back today with the stereo system refitted but same electrical problems still exists.
Bottom line is if you go to Plymouth Car Sound and you have problems after having them do work on your car then expect to get treated badly the same way I have.
It’s not right that I’ve spent over £2,000 and got my car retuned to me in this state but I have video evidence I took myself of the faults going back to last September 2021 and I recorded my conversation with Andy who told me don’t worry I am insured and I will fix this but in the end he took my money and cut me loose, I will be going to trading standards and seeking legal advice as this is no way to treat customers.
I am going to trading standards and seek legal advice and get them to investigate just where my £360 has gone? When it only cost £50 to test clocks which mine was and returned because no fault was found! Nothing adds up and needs further investigation.
