Excellent Customer Experience

The order process was smooth, and the website managed to warn me of mistakes I'd made in the configuration that might've been a customer support nightmare with any other company.
They kept me updated on the build and they even sent 360° photos of it in the build process.
It arrived exactly on time, clean and well packaged, with good instructions for setup. I'm very happy with my new computer.

My PC Specialist laptop is the worst…

My PC Specialist laptop is the worst laptop I've ever had. From the get go it had a problem launching games on battery power, cutting out and only coming back on by taking the battery out and putting it back in again. When I tried to get this solved, they wanted to take away my laptop and leave me without a device for over two weeks, despite me home working. The ambient lights worked for all of 3 weeks and the fixes they suggested have never got them working again. This is just the beginning. I would absolutely never recommend them.

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve described with your laptop.

We’re not able to locate your details from this review, so we will request them from you through Trustpilot.

While our aim is always to help and resolve issues remotely where possible, in some cases, systems need to be returned to us for inspection and repair under our warranty terms unfortunately.

We looked to PC Specialist after…

We looked to PC Specialist after another company let us down. PC Specialist was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. From the point of order to delivery took less than two days and best of all, my son loves his new gaming PC.

10/10 all around

10/10 all around. Ordered a PC over a year ago now and the process was smooth.

I've got 0 complaints and only have good things to say. It shipped quickly and everything was top-notch, everything still works and performs perfectly to this day. It really shows in every aspect of the experience that the team pay close attention to detail and take special care when doing things.

Support is always on the ball, when I first purchased I had a few changes I decided on after placing the order and they replied very quickly and got things sorted. Earlier today (over a year later) I had a few queries about an upgrade/change I wanted to make that I was unsure about and they answered in under an hour and gave me all the info I needed to do it effectively. It's pretty amazing how long after the purchase they're still providing stellar support and helping out. Because everything has been so well the entire time it never crossed my mind to leave a review but after that, they most definitely deserve one.

They also don't have outrageous price markups like other companies, which alone makes them worth buying from if you don't want to build yourself.

All in all, 10/10, absolutely would recommend pcspecialist and I'll definitely be ordering my next pc from them too.

This is a review for 10 years ago.

This is a review for 10 years ago.

Something that I never knew I had been lied to and my time wasted.

I was attending a degree for Computer Science, but the laptop was failing to connect to the University Wi-Fi, causing much unnecessary stress and inconvenience. I sent the laptop away for repairs just before coursework and exam period, and they held onto my laptop during this period of time for 2 months, only to send it back without fixing the issue. I ended up dropping out of my degree as a result despite having top marks, not saying this incident was everything that caused my depression, but it was a large contributing factor.

They claimed that my laptop was too old of a model to upgrade or replace my internal Wi-Fi card and that there were no Wi-Fi cards available for my laptop anymore. The truth was that the University only had a handful of 2.4GHz routers left, meaning most signals were on 5GHz, making the Wi-Fi extremely unstable and near unusable.

This is the kicker, 10 years later I opened up my laptop, now out of warranty of course, out of curiosity to see if I could figure out the problem while repairing something else. Turns out PC Specialist LIED about the Wi-Fi card being unupgradable, but held onto my laptop for 2 months because they messed up unscrewing the Wi-Fi card, stripping the screw. With a bit of difficulty I was able to remove the screw and replace the 2.4GHz only Wi-Fi card with a 5GHz Wi-Fi card easily. This revelation that PC Specialist lied, wasted my time and ultimately ruined an important part of my life can't go unforgiven, so I'm leaving this review here even if it occurred almost a decade ago.

Given I can't backdate more than a certain amount of time, I can confirm this issue stretched from October 2015 to Summer of 2017.

Flawless experience, I love my PC!

Everything about my experience with these guys was awesome. Easy to use website with live pricing so you can make decisions based around your budget, payment plan options (I didn't use them but nice they were an option for people!) and I loved getting the build update pictures, felt like a really cool personalised experience.
Absolutely cannot fault packaging & delivery, PC set up was incredibly quick and the build looks great and functions perfectly.
Highly recommend these guys!

All in the detail

I Contacted PC Specialist via the live chat, to ask advice on a PC that would fit my needs. I was asked detailed questions about the specifications, and how I planned to use my PC. It was custom built for me, I was very pleased with the final result when it arrived. The person on Live Chat was patient and polite.

I bought a custom built PC

I bought a custom built PC from PC Specialist, and I’m very impressed to say the least:
-To start, when configuring the rig on the website, redundant components get flagged, for example that an additional network card is not needed as the motherboard already has one.
-Frequent updates on the progress of the build. Even photos of the PC.
-Responsive customer service.
-And the PC works great.

Overall, a flawless experience!

£3000 PC built with cheap, short‑lived parts — left out of pocket after SSD failure

I bought a £3000 PC from PCSpecialist a few years ago expecting quality components and long‑term reliability. Instead, the system was built with a very low‑tier OEM SSD (Netac G930E), manufactured in 2021 and already a year old before it was even installed in my machine. This drive failed catastrophically, locking itself into read‑only safe‑mode and leaving my entire PC unusable.
The failure was so severe that most people would have lost all their data. I only managed to recover mine because I knew how to use specialist tools like DiskGenius to pull files off a RAW, bricked SSD. A typical customer would have lost everything.
When I contacted support, I was told the SSD was out of warranty because the manufacturer warranty started from the manufacture date, not the date I bought the PC. That meant the SSD’s warranty expired long before the failure, even though I had only owned the PC for a few years. I was offered no goodwill replacement and not even an apology — just “we can’t replace it.”
I’ve now had to spend £240 of my own money to replace a part that should never have been used in a £3000 system in the first place. The rest of the PC has also aged poorly, with several components already outdated despite the high price I paid.
If you’re considering buying from PCSpecialist, be aware that they may use the cheapest OEM storage available, with short warranties and known failure issues. When these parts fail, you may be left to deal with the cost yourself.

Update after PCSpecialist’s reply:

Thanks for responding, but your reply here repeats the same scripted points without addressing the actual issue I raised.
My complaint was never simply “the warranty expired.”
It was that a £3000 system was built using a low‑tier DRAM‑less OEM SSD that was already a year old at the time of assembly, and that this drive suffered a catastrophic controller failure — not normal wear, not gradual degradation, but a full safe‑mode lockout that corrupted the bootloader and left the system unbootable.
Calling this a “standard component failure” is simply not accurate.
You also haven’t acknowledged:
- The SSD’s premature and abnormal failure mode
- The fact that I had to spend £240 out of pocket to replace a part that should never have been in a premium build
- That the SSD’s manufacturer warranty was effectively shortened because the drive was already old when installed
- That at no point did anyone at PCSpecialist offer even a basic apology or goodwill gesture
Your reply here, like the one I received privately, avoids all of that and instead repeats the warranty line as if that resolves the concern. It doesn’t.
I’m glad you’ve “noted my feedback,” but the lack of ownership, lack of transparency about component choice, and lack of any apology is exactly why this review will remain in place. Future customers deserve to know what to expect when a budget component fails catastrophically in a high‑end system.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your system.

After reviewing your order, we can see that the system was originally sold to our partner retail, who in turn, sold the PC to yourself directly. As standard with our systems, we can see it was covered by our standard warranty of one year parts and three years labour, which has now expired sadly.

We understand how frustrating a component failure like this can be, especially when it affects system usability. However, all components supplied within our systems are covered under the system warranty from the date of purchase, rather than individual manufacturer warranties. These manufacturer warranties can vary and are not something we are able to extend or guarantee beyond our own coverage period.

While we appreciate your concerns regarding the specific SSD model used, the part would have met the required specifications at the time of build. As with any hardware, failures can occur over time, and once the warranty period has passed, replacements are subjective to any remaining warranty terms.

We are sorry that on this occasion we were unable to offer the resolution you were hoping for. Your feedback has been noted and will be shared internally.

Kind regards,
PCSpecialist

The design process is so well done

The design process is so well done. If components are not compatible it will say so when you try to proceed. Allowing you to finesse the computer parts (and yes with this process the cost can be controlled, I even saved on parts to get a great monitor as part of the package) do be aware that when the computer comes it will need to update and that can take a long long time but... It is stress tested by PCS and they won't steer you wrong.
