Charge full subscription before even starting free trial

The company advertises a 5 day trial period for $1, which is similar to other companies of the same purpose The website claims you can cancel within that 5 days by phone, online, or other means and you will not be charged for their standard subscription. It further states that if you fail to cancel before those 5 days end, you will be then charged $28.95 a month. However, as soon as you submit the payment for a dollar, it grabs the $28.95 subscription price as well. And lucky for me I only keep a few bucks in that account because it never said try a different payment method or anything but shut the entire site down and left me wondering what happened. Then I checked my bank and seen that they tried to put it through twice. So I am not certain if they provide anything at all or is not just a partial scam but a total scam. I called to inquire but an audio recording said try again when they are open but failed to say when that was

Hacked, data breached and no responsibility

They got hacked, everyone's data got leaked including passport details, national insurance details, payslip info, EVERYTHING. The refuse to compensate affected people, the most they're offering if identity protection for 2 years which is nothing. They wouldn't even give detailed info on what or how it happened.

Identity theft risk

PeopleCheck got hacked, didn't publish a full account as to what happened, and may have leaked all my PII (including banking details and my birth certificate) because they hold onto all candidates' documents for 12 months after processing a DBS check.

Was charged $29.17 for a subscription I…

I originally thought I was on the State of Michigan website. Somehow I ended up on Peoplecheck.com. when I was checking out. Peoplecheck.com charged me $29.17 for a subscription I never consented to. I agreed to $1as their website stated. I called Peoplecheck.com and was told I didn't call and cancel the subscription that I didn't sign up for. Many other reviews say the same thing happened to them. Website very deceptive. Beware. Not a legitimate online business.
