I am really happy with JP Morgan so far.

I opened an investment account is response to an offer of an Avios bonus (which was paid promptly). The process to open an account is straightforward despite the need to answer quite a number of questions aimed at providing the right options for me personally. The on line account is well thought out and easy to use. Today I wanted to add new investments and I sought online help today using chat and was quickly connected to an advisor who answered my questions without delay. I am really happy with JP Morgan so far.

Deeply Disappointing Experience

My experience with J.P. Morgan Personal Investing has been deeply disappointing.

I joined as a first-time investor with a low-risk profile after being a satisfied customer of Chase's savings products. What I expected was a service that would take particular care to ensure that a highly risk-averse customer fully understood the practical realities of moving from savings into investments.

Instead, I came away feeling that the process relied heavily on questionnaires, automated profiling, and standard risk disclosures rather than genuine customer understanding.

When my portfolio began falling in value, I quickly realised that the practical consequences of investment risk had not been communicated to me in a way that matched my level of experience. Yes, the firm can point to terms and conditions, suitability reports, and risk warnings. They repeatedly did so during the complaint process. But there is a significant difference between presenting a customer with documents and ensuring that the customer truly understands the real-world impact of what they are signing up for.

The most frustrating part was the complaint handling process. Despite repeatedly explaining that my complaint was not simply about losing money, I felt that my concerns were continually reduced to a basic "investments can go down" argument.

My complaint focused on suitability, onboarding, customer understanding, and the responsibilities that come with a discretionary managed investment service. Yet the final response largely relied on the fact that I completed a questionnaire, selected a risk category, and received risk disclosures.

In my view, that completely misses the broader issue.

A low-risk first-time investor coming from a savings background deserves more than a box-ticking exercise. They deserve meaningful communication, genuine customer understanding, and a service that takes responsibility for ensuring that the customer appreciates the practical realities of investment risk before their money is exposed to market losses.

I appreciate that investments can go down as well as up. That has never been the issue. The issue is whether the onboarding process genuinely prepares inexperienced customers for what they may experience and whether concerns about suitability are taken seriously when they are raised.

After going through the complaint process, I was left with the impression that the firm was far more focused on defending its procedures than reflecting on the customer experience and outcome.

Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this service to read every document carefully, understand exactly how losses can occur even in the lowest-risk portfolios, understand that withdrawal requests may not be executed immediately, and make sure they are completely comfortable with the possibility of seeing their investment value fall.

My experience fell well below my expectations for a global financial institution.

Based on my experience, I would urge anyone considering this service to think very carefully before committing their money. If preserving your capital is important to you, make sure you fully understand that even a "low-risk" portfolio can lose value and may continue falling while you watch your savings shrink.

As a first-time, low-risk investor, I deeply regret moving money out of savings and into this investment product. Had I fully appreciated the practical reality of the risks and potential losses, I would have explored alternative options before handing over my money.

My advice to prospective customers is simple: do your own research, compare alternatives, and do not assume that a low-risk label means your money will be protected. In my experience, watching the value fall day after day was frustrating and disappointing.

Hello Sulman,

I hope you are well. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this review. Although we will be unable to access your account or look into the case to which you are referring, we would like to take the time to address your concerns.

At J.P. Morgan Personal Investing we have a duty to ensure that the investment we carry out on our clients’ behalf are suitable. Because of this we carry out a simplified advice process as part of onboarding. This is detailed in our terms and conditions:

"When you open a Product with us you will choose which Investment Parameters to apply to that Product so that we know how to manage the Product(s) for you. We will provide you with financial advice to help you make this decision. We call this our “Simplified Advice Service”.

"We will also provide you with our Simplified Advice Service if you want to change your Investment Parameters.

"We will require you to compete this risk assessment annually to ensure that the Investment Parameters are still suitable for you."

https://www.personalinvesting.jpmorgan.com/legal/terms-and-conditions

After taking a risk assessment, we issue you a suitability report to your secure messages. This is a summary of the information you've provided about your personal goals and financial needs, and explains why we have advised that the investment is suitable given what we know about you. We also highlight the risks and fees associated with this investment.

You can read more about this on our support page: https://support.personalinvesting.jpmorgan.com/?article=Understanding-risk-across-your-JPMorgan-Personal-Investing-pots

Your recommended risk level, outlined in your suitability report, will depend on your personal circumstances and how long you expect to keep your money invested. In general, the more time you have to invest, the more risk you may be able to take — because you have longer to ride out short-term ups and downs. That being said, as with all investing, your capital is at risk; the value of your portfolio with J.P. Morgan Personal Investing can go down as well as up and you may get back less than you invest.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with the performance of your portfolio and that you disagree with the outcome of your complaint. Note, we investigate all complaints in line with FCA regulations. You are, therefore, are able to refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) as mentioned in your final response letter.

To ensure you feel supported going forward, we would encourage you to get in touch with us so that we can quickly address any outstanding messages or concerns you may have. Our dedicated London- and Edinburgh-based Client Services team is available Monday to Thursday – 9:00am to 5:30pm and Friday – 9:00am to 4:30pm and will be happy to help.

Shameful service levels - do not trust them with your money if you want to withdraw!

I requested my bank details to be updated on 13/05/26, receiving a response that these would be updated within 2 business days. It is now 2.5 weeks later and they still have not been updated despite regular chasing messages, phone calls, and a complaint. I haven't even received a confirmation of when I can expect it to be done.
This is preventing me from making a withdrawal for a large life event, which is unacceptable from a firm of their size.
I work in the online investment platform industry and can assure you that there are far better automated providers out there (and I'll be transferring my ISA to one of them ASAP!). JPM clearly do not have the technology or the support resources to handle the business that they are running - nor do they care that the client money they are handling is people's hard earned savings, which they have a right to access in a reasonable timeframe!

Agents helpful in giving guidance on issue resolution, however, got disconnected a couple of times and the next agent had no prior context on previous conversations resulting in a lot of unnecessary repetition and a high effort CX.

I tried to do a simple task

I tried to do a simple task, reducing my risk level and the system tried to lock me into a direct debit for £840 a month. I've done this exact same portfolio adjustment on Capitize before in about two clicks, so I have no idea why it's so ridiculously convoluted here. To make it worse, support just sends standard template replies and fails to look into the actual problem. I even phoned up and got promised a call back that day which didn't happen. 3 attempts to get this sorted is my limit. I'm moving my money out this week.

Hello Mia,

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise that your experience with requesting a withdrawal and verifying your bank details has not been as positive as we would hope. While I will be unable to access your account or look into the case to which you are referring, I’d would like to take the time to address your concerns.

If your bank account linked to your J.P. Morgan Personal Investing has not previously been verified, this will need to be completed before a withdrawal can be made. This applies to all bank accounts irrespective of the company they are held with. It is important to note that while J.P. Morgan Personal Investing and Chase UK are both J.P. Morgan companies, we are separate entities.

Bank account verification is the process by which we ensure the bank account linked to a J.P. Morgan Personal Investing account belongs to our client. To pass the verification checks, the J.P. Morgan Personal Investing account holder must be a named party on the bank account (including as a joint holder). It’s crucial that your account with us is kept safe and secure. We do offer the option to complete the bank account verification on your dashboard via open banking. However, if your registered bank account does not facilitate open banking – this will require manual verification. As a result, there may be delays while key checks are completed to protect your account.

We aim to process manual bank verification requests within 3-10 business days. I do apologise if it has taken longer than the expected timeframe to process your request. We are currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of inbound contacts, and we do apologise for any delays this may cause.

I am sorry to hear that you have not received any communication regarding the progress. Avoid at all costs. Awful service.

I've had nothing but poor service from this company. After closing my bank account I needed to change the bank account details in my JPM account in order to set up a a direct debit. As the bank account I wanted to use (a Barclays Premier account) was only recently opened, I sent JPM a letter from Barclays confirming my account details. They would not accept a letter from Barclays confirming my account details, and said they would only accept a statement. When a statement came through I sent that, instead. And now, nearly TWO MONTHS after trying to change my bank details in order to pay money INTO my JPM account I get a message from them thanking me for sending the statement (which they received 6 weeks ago) and saying I need to call them to conform details.

There is no good reason for ANY of this. Most financial institutions (banks, credit card companies, etc) will allow you to change your bank details INSTANTLY in the app or on the website without having to jump through all these hoops, and without having to EMAIL statements and make phone calls.

If it takes 6-8 weeks to change bank details for a direct debit, I can only imagine how long it would take to resolve an actual problem with them! I've completely lost faith and trust in them as an organisation, and have instead arranged for my ISA to be transferred to a different provider.

Avoid at all costs.

Although we will be unable to access your account or look into the case to which you are referring, we would like to take the time to address your concerns.

When you submit new bank details to us, we will complete manual verification. Bank account verification is the process by which we ensure the bank account linked to a J.P. Morgan Personal Investing account belongs to our client and forms a key part of ensuring J.P. Morgan Personal Investing accounts are secure for our clients. In some cases, if this check is unsuccessful, we may request a bank statement and conduct a security call to complete the account verification.

We aim to process manual bank verification requests within 3-10 business days. Can't withdraw my money. No response from customer support

I have an ISA account with J.P. Morgan Personal Investing, always transfering money into it from my personal bank account.
Now that I want to withdraw moneys back to the same account, they claim the account verification failed. I contacted customer support and was promissed a 2 working days reponse. It's been 6 working days already and they haven't given any reply whatsover to my messages.
I have no idea if they simply haven't looked into the issue or if there's any ongoing problem preventing them to let me have access to my money.

Bank account verification is the process we use to confirm that the bank account linked to your J.P. Morgan Personal Investing account belongs to you. You can make payments into your J.P. Morgan Personal Investing account from any UK bank account in your own name — payments do not need to come from your registered bank account. However, before we can process a withdrawal, the bank account you want to withdraw to must be verified. Note each bank account only needs to be verified once.

In most cases, verification can be completed electronically. Occasionally, electronic checks may not be successful, and we will then complete the verification manually. While we aim to complete an electronic verification within 2 working days, manual verification can take longer. In some situations, we may also need to request additional information to support and complete the process.

We aim to respond to all client messages and emails within 2 business days This allows us time to coordinate with relevant internal teams, if needed, and complete any necessary action before providing actioning any requests. A very happy customer

JPMPI are an outstanding service with exceptional communication. I used them as my LISA suppliers to which, using their Smart Alpha strategy and a medium/high risk, they managed to return me a whopping 40% on my principal which allowed me to move out 18 months earlier than I had originally planned!
And then, when it came to withdrawing my LISA, they were very helpful with a step by step guide on the process, and even going as far as confirming when the money had successfully been sent - my solicitor commented that most companies don't do this, and it gives everyone peace of mind!
If you ever have questions or feel stuck, their web chat is very effective at resolving your issue - they use real humans an not some silly AI system.
I highly recommend JPM PI.

Please rest assured that reducing your portfolio’s risk level will not affect your monthly contributions – the amount you contribute each month will remain the same unless you choose to change it. We apologise for any confusion caused when attempting to change your pot’s risk level.

Further, we aim to respond to messages and emails within our 2-business-day Service Level Agreement (SLA). This allows us time to coordinate with relevant internal teams, if needed, and complete any necessary action before providing a high-quality response. We are currently experiencing a higher-than-usual volume of inbound contacts, and we apologise for any delays this may cause. We aim to set clear expectations for our clients, and appreciate that it would be frustrating not receiving a follow up if promised. We do encourage clients to contact us by call or Live Chat, if they require more immediate assistance.

We always aim to do everything we can to make sure you receive the best possible service; however, we know that sometimes we don’t always get things right the first time. Accordingly, we've kindly requested some additional information from you, via Trustpilot, in order for us to review your account and better understand the issue. Once you respond, we will arrange for a member of the team to reach out to discuss the matter further and work towards a suitable resolution.

I am extremely disappointed and…

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the repeated errors and poor service from J.P. Morgan Personal Investing.
Prior to Christmas 2025, they provided a completely incorrect valuation of my funds. I proceeded with a withdrawal based on the figure they gave me. Once the valuation was suddenly revised, I explicitly instructed them not to proceed with the withdrawal if the original figure was wrong. They ignored my clear instructions and completed the withdrawal anyway.
They later acknowledged the mistake, promised compensation, and assured me that when the investment was returned it would be placed into an ISA. Instead, they put the funds into a General Investment Account (GIA). I complained twice, clearly stating that the funds needed to be moved into an ISA as promised. Over two months later, nothing had been done. At one point, their response even appeared to shift blame onto me.
The ongoing failures, lack of accountability, and disregard for my instructions caused me to lose all confidence in them. I have now fully withdrawn my funds.
J.P. Morgan failed on multiple levels: incorrect valuations, ignoring client instructions, breaking promises on tax-efficient placement, and dragging their feet on basic corrections. This level of service is unacceptable for a firm of their reputation.
I would strongly advise others to think twice before investing with them.

Amazing Service from Lu

I was concerned about how quickly funds would be withdrawn from my LISA as it was holding up my house move, but Lu assured me by providing all the info I needed and going above and beyond to provide fantastic support.
