Avoid This Company – They Use Unfounded Reasons to Void Policies

My experience with Petgevity has been extremely disappointing, despite providing all genuine supporting documents.

When I made a claim, instead of properly reviewing the documents I provided, the company appeared to look for reasons to avoid paying by attempting to void my insurance policy.

Their explanation was factually incorrect. They claimed that my cat had not had a veterinary check in the previous year. However, my cat was born this year, so it is impossible for her to have had records from the previous year.

My cat was adopted from the Scottish SPCA, where she received a full veterinary health check, vaccinations, deworming and flea treatment before adoption. I submitted all of the relevant documentation, yet it does not appear to have been properly reviewed.

They also questioned whether I was a UK resident and whether my pet lived with me, despite the information and evidence provided.

Based on my experience, the claims process has been handled poorly, with incorrect assumptions being made rather than a careful assessment of the evidence. I expected a fair review of my claim, but instead I received a decision based on inaccurate information.

I hope the company reviews claims more thoroughly in the future and ensures that all submitted documents are properly considered before making decisions that have significant consequences for policyholders.

Very disappointed that they didn't…

Very disappointed that they didn't resolve a previous claim dispute however I renewed only because they were cheaper than Petplan

Update following the response. The new premium costs were not brought up by me. Nor did I say any claims were not settled. Please read reviews properly as this will help you to improve...stock answers will not
I said a "claim dispute" which relates to something else entirely

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time out to leave a review.

The increase in a renewal quote can be due to many factors including claim history as well as pets being another year older. I can see that there has been a successful claim within the policy year.

We truly appreciate your loyalty and thank you for continuing to choose us. We wish you and your pet all the very best for the coming year.

Regarding your claim dispute, we have referred this back to one of our Claims Specialists, who will contact you by telephone over the next few days to discuss this with you.

Many thanks,

Jenni

Amazing pet insurance

Amazing pet insurance. My little Westie became ill at 8 and after vet investigation it turned out to be Cushing’s Disease. Petgevity were wonderful with the claims, no quibbling or messing and paying the vet directly within 2 weeks. I was dreading the renewal cost though, knowing she was going to be on medication/treatment for life, but the renewal price turned out to be excellent and now I have peace of mind that her vet bills are covered and she can get the best care available to her.

Hello Teresa,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

Renewal prices can increase due to various factors including age of pet, claims history & general increases in veterinary treatment. I can see that you spoke with a member of the team who was able to assist you with the renewal and you opted to continue with us.

We thank you for your loyalty and wish you and your pet all the best for the coming year.

Kind regards,

Jenni

I am very happy with choosing petgevity.

I have been a customer for the second year, I was able to get an appointment using the 24/7 video call. The vet was extremely helpful, was able to diagnose symptoms over video to help and if felt the need I made a vet appointment that day.

Good afternoon Ben,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry to hear your renewal price was not what you were looking for.

Renewal quotes are usually sent out at least 21 days before the renewal date. This may have gone to your spam or junk folder.

Premiums can increase at renewal for a few reasons. As pets get older, the risk of illness or injury tends to rise, which can affect the cost of cover. If you've made a claim, that can also impact your premium. Additionally, vet fees and treatment costs are rising across the industry, and these increases affect all policyholders — not just individual cases. Our prices are also regularly reviewed to remain competitive, but factors such as government tax changes, increased treatment and medication costs, and overall veterinary inflation have made it necessary to adjust our pricing to stay sustainable.

That said, we can also look at options to help reduce your premium, such as increasing the excess or bill share, or lowering the vet fee cover.

If you want to discuss your renewal options further, please call our customer service team on 0333 006 3211, email info@petgevity.co.uk or start a live chat with us via your online account or our website www.petgevity.co.uk

Kind regards,
Michele.
