Having never ridden a bike with manual gears, I was nervous, but as soon as I have arrived and was greeted by the team, feeling the professional but friendly atmosphere, nerves went away and had a fantastic day of learning and trying and learning, until in the afternoon we took the bikes on the road.
Thanks to the whole team at Phoenix Foots Cray, Sidcup for their professionalism and attentiveness!
My CBT instructor Peter is an incredibly pragmatic, stern yet patient instructor. He explained how motorcycles work and how to behave on the road in ways that's easy to understand for people who's just starting or have some experience - not just how to do it, but why we should do it.
Despite training 2 other students on the day, he remained extremely observant, identifying my correct and incorrect actions on the road as it happens and how to correct them. (I have no idea how he manage to observe my incorrect hand position from 20 meters behind in busy traffic!)
He genuinely wants the best for you and refuses to compromise your safety if he believes you're not ready. He's not just ticking the box for a CBT, he builds your knowledge and confidence to be on the road a better biker.
My instructor Sean was brilliant. He was very calm and patient. At no point did I feel like I was being judged. He was the perfect mix of professional and relaxed. He was up for a laugh when the time was right and during the riding exercises he was very knowledgable and focused on making sure we were riding safe and correctly. Sean made the day really relaxing taking the stress and worry away due to his personality. I couldn’t recommend phoenix enough especially doing it with Sean
Sean at Sidcup was Brilliant!
Did my CBT in Foots Cray with Sean 21st Feb, great instructor Sean, very knowledgeable and good to get along with.
Brilliant Jokes.
Would recommend to anyone.
Thanks Guys!
I recently completed my motorcycle training with Phoenix Motorcycle Training, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From back office staff to the instructors - the flexibility and support they gave me to go from CBT to a full licence in just five weeks and two days is pretty incredible.
The whole process was smooth and actually enjoyable rather than stressful. A massive shout-out to Chris, Harry, and Karen from the Foots Cray Centre for their support and advice along the way. They were all brilliant and really helped get me through each stage of the process.
If you're looking to get your licence sorted properly, don’t look anywhere else.
I am extremely grateful to all the CBT Phoenix motorcycle instructors, especially Mr. Shane, for their dedication and hard work in teaching me about the rules and regulations of the UK roads. Their flexible and dedicated instruction has left me completely satisfied with my experience at Phoenix CBT training center.once again thanks to all instructer.
Friendly and helpful instructors.
Knowledgable. Welcoming.
Done my DAS course with phoenix. the instructors are very knowledgeable and effective communicators. From my initial big bike assessment with Steve ⭐️ in Crystal Palace to mod 1 training with Karen ⭐ at Sidcup. The customer service is exceptional they are able to offer multiple dates and locations to suit your needs.
They offer a mix of classroom and on road training for the mod 2 and are observant even in 1:2 instructor to student setups. They went through common test routes and gotcha spots 🤣.
Would highly recommend this school to anyone looking to start riding.
Prompt, easy to use, great teaching tips and skills gained, clear instructions, clean bikes.
Great staff and knowledge! Done my CBT with them twice now with different instructors and will do again when it runs out
Mark and the guys were excellent teachers. Really learnt a lot and enjoyed the day. Will be going back for my license shortly
Great place to do your cbt. Mark is a very good instructor and a funny guy. I had a great experience with my cbt.
I had an excellent day trial riding with a friend under the guidance of instructors Steve and Sean. From start to finish, it was a genuinely enjoyable and confidence-building experience.
We are both very experienced riders, but it had been 30-plus years since we last rode off-road, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. The day struck the perfect balance between being supportive and challenging. The riding covered a fantastic mix of terrain, with the majority being off-road: country trail ruts, muddy sections, pebbly tracks, and tricky clay areas, with some on-road riding linking it all together. The variety really helped rebuild confidence and sharpen balance, control, and technique.
Steve and Sean were outstanding instructors—calm, knowledgeable, and very encouraging. They quickly gauged our experience and adjusted the guidance to suit, explaining techniques clearly and offering practical feedback that made an immediate difference.
Overall, it was a superbly run day that was both great fun and genuinely educational. I came away with improved skills, renewed off-road confidence, and a real appreciation for how well the session was tailored to riders returning after a long break. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone, whether new to trial riding or getting back into off-road riding after years away.
Amazing experience with Phoenix Motorcycle Training in Foots Cray. The instructors were super helpful, patient, and really knowledgeable. I’d 100% recommend taking lessons here before doing your CBT if you don’t have any riding experience, it made a huge difference to my confidence and skills on the bike. Shout out to all the instructors there
Content was vast and instructors Knowledgeable. It was a great idea to have 2 instructors one for the theory and another for practical. It would be even better to have a couple of them working together on the practical skills. It would allow further understanding of the needs of learners. It would be excellent for Phoenix and learners to offer a 2 day course as an option for absolute beginners and a one day course for more experienced ones who might have done a CBT previously or have a car driver license. It would facilitate delivery for instructors and make it much more effective for learners. I would reduce the stress and frustration for all. There was an incident during the training which made the training longer than expected this can be avoided with much more kindness and understanding of instructors and time to practice or a two stage course.

The training was well explained before and during the day of the CBT. Harry was very knowledgeable, well experienced, and very professional. I would strongly recommend Harry and Phoenix based on my experience.
