Fraudulent claims against small businesses and bloggers, with the aim to utilise 'scary' emails to intimidate people into paying hefty fees, for images that were completely legally obtained from copyright free websites, which seem to magically be removed in the build-up to their email. Avoid like the plague, beyond illegal! Evil to the core

Professional company in a sensitive area

We have been working with PicRights for some time and are very happy with the service they provide. They are not spam. They work on behalf of agencies and photographers to get a fair price for past use of images that have been used without a licence.

It's completely unacceptable when a profitable business takes a photo off the internet and uses it for monetary gain. However, if a business is not for profit or a charity then surely a warning is fair and if the pics remain and not taken down then a fine is completely acceptable. Sadly this organisation did not care about what we do or why we do it but only continued to send their bank account details so to forward on our fine. Because of how this was done we thought at first it was a scam - it isn't, but the way they operate is highly questionable. We apologised and took the pics down straight away and then another email was sent saying we may have infringed copyright on a newspaper logo we used. We explained our organisation comment in this national newspaper and contacted the Editor and thankfully they said we could use it and they would contact this company. We received another email from them saying the 'case is now closed''. This was a genuine mistake and as a not for profit, elderly care organisation that works with many journalists we so wish we could have paid the photographer from PA and Reuters directly as we feel this was done so unprofessionally, We absolutely agree that placing photographers work up without permission is wrong but not everyone is completely aware of copyright laws. Our not for profit organisation paid £600 for a few small thumbprint pics that again we received no monetary gain on. It would be interesting to know how much of that £600 the poor photographer will get.

PicRights and our clients are not in the business of harassing people. Because intellectual property is the lifeblood of its business, our clients have a special obligation to protect its rights in the images it creates.
Creating high-quality work such as the Image is expensive and time-consuming. Our clients rely on license fees to support not only their businesses, but also the thousands of photographers that they work with. If our client does not receive any payment for the use of their work, it will harm not only our client’s ability to sustain their business, but also their photographers.

It is understandable that you are surprised and dismayed after being made aware of a copyright infringement . Our people are trained to be professional when dealing with individuals who have received a communication from us, so we are sorry that you had a poor experience with one of our team. If you would email us the specifics, we will look further into this.

The reason people get so upset with Pic Rights, is that
they are unhappy about being busted for using photographs that they have no right to use. Once they are "caught" they are upset with having to pay the consequences. Photographs you find on the internet are not free to use. Those images are owned by someone, quite often someone that makes their living by licensing them .

PicRights is an incredibly valuable service as a content creator that has my work very often taken and used without permission around the world. It can be difficult to pursue copyright infringement in countries where you do not speak the language or have not established your own legal framework to defend yourself, but PicRights offers up a great service.

I'm sure people on the receiving end of a letter from them are rather upset that they are being taken to task for copyright infringement. I'm personally quite thrilled that I am able to receive payment from people that thought they could use my work for free, without permission.

Excellent service for pursuing illicit photo use

Ever since we have had a website, some 18 years now, people have stolen our photos. Our attempts at asking for a contribution, or at least a credit, usually go ignored and sometimes get a nasty response. Then we started using PicRights, and now the internet is a fairer playing field. They have traced literally thousands of illegal uses of our photos, and their approach is firm but fair. We spend a lot of time effort and money on producing our photos, which people seem happy to use without a thought for that work and expense. PicRights help us to recover some of the losses make people aware of the work that goes into our photography.

Copyright theft.

PicRights is a reputable company which ensures photographers are properly paid for their photos that are discovered to be infringing copyright on websites. Negative reviews of them are from people who have been caught red-handed. Copyright theft does not pay - you will be found out!

We value Pic Rights

We work with Pic Rights to help us track and recover lost revenue due to image infringements. The photographers that we represent are very appreciative of this service, their time and effort deserve to be compensated, their work is not free. We couldn't do this without the services of Pic Rights. They are fair and we've had a great experience working with them.

I am a visual artist and use Picrights to pursue unauthorized usage of my digital images. They actually do pay me when they collect on my behalf. They have been very good at not pursuing cases when I review them so the focus is non legit commercial usage.

The best company for copyright enforcement

Been working with PicRights for 3 years now and it is the best company for copyright enforcement. We invest a huge amount of resources in graphics and had an issue where our images were getting stolen by competitors. Using PicRights we were able to crack down on those infringers and pursue legal action against them. Due to the nature of the business- pursuing legal action against websites that use images against the law, a lot of people don't like them so much. But this work has to get done, and if you are a website owner that produces unique graphic assets, PicRights is an absolute must.

PicRights is a legitimate and professional business that we have happily used for many years. They recoup usage fees from & educate owners of websites that have used our images without permission. For so long, many have just taken images from the web without any thought to how and where they were created. PicRights ensures we have the extra resources to keep our artists in employment so they can continue to make the artwork we all love.

It's important to protect photographers livelihoods

Copyright Infringement is not a comfortable subject, but it's important that we protect the work of our photographers and videographers so they get paid for the work that they produce and can therefore continue to do so as we all need and value great content.

We've been working with Picrights for several years now and have been really pleased with how they approach potential infringers. Often people don't realise that they have infringed an image, and Picrights are able to explain how an image has been used and how it can be settled.

Picrights will try to establish if a license has been obtained and as more and more companies operate in this field, with more and more photographers and agencies protecting their collections, it is going to become commonplace to receive a request to confirm genuine use of imagery.

It is certainly not a scam as some reviewers have suggested. It's estimated that there are more infringed uses of imagery than licensed and companies like Picrights are helping to ensure that the copyrighted work is protected.
