I honestly cannot praise Planning by Design highly enough. We were given a price for our drawings and planning application, which was very reasonable. We paid upfront, which was expected. Silas Willoughby our architect drew up wonderful plans and duly submitted the to our local planners. I cannot sing Silas's praises enough. Our application became a nightmare, when a storm caused serious damage to our old building. Finally 18 months later, we have had our planning permission. Silas was professional, helpful and calm. Keeping my husband and I informed all through this turbulent time. He's really is an absolute star. Thank you Silas!

Best planner & designer in town for dropped kerb applications
I recently engaged the Planning & Design team to support my dropped kerb application, and I’m delighted with the entire experience. From the beginning, they demonstrated exceptional professionalism, strong design expertise and customer focus.
Given the complexity of my application, they proactively conducted a pre-planning consultation to clarify expectations and identify potential hurdles. This initial step gave me confidence that I was in capable hands. I provided them with a rough sketch, and they quickly transformed it into a detailed set of design drawings that were accurate, compliant, and visually clear. Remarkably, the very first draft they produced was spot on — I had no changes or corrections, and I approved it immediately.
Throughout the planning submission process, they handled every aspect professionally. They submitted the application on my behalf and stayed engaged throughout the standard 8-week approval timeline. They proactively follow-up with local planning authority and timely communicated the outcome. Thanks to their diligence, my application was approved smoothly and without delay.
They are competitively priced, especially considering the high level of service and attention to detail they provided for a moderately complex application like mine. Planning by Design turned out to be an excellent choice, for a complete novice like myself. They took me through the design and process step by step, and answered any concerns or queries I had patiently and professionally. In a conservation area and with heritage statements and other requirements to meet, they did an absolutely fantastic job. Special thanks goes to Cerys and Abigail who kept me informed and touched base frequently to update. This was such an easy and cost effective service and I would not hesitate to recommend. They work hard for their money and provide a great service. And they did manage to get my plans approved, which to be honest I was surprised at for a first time application.
I am delighted.

Excellent organisation highly recommended
I am extremely happy with the professional service provided by this organisation. Prior to contacting this business the planning process seemed extremely convoluted and I was struggling to submit all of the required details. Due to their support we have received approval for the planning permission required for work carried out at our property. The company kept us updated throughout the planning process. I found the staff extremely helpful in explaining the details required for a successful application, and their management of the application alleviated the stress of submitting the planning application. My experience with PbD has been an excellent one - right from the start I received sound and honest advice from Cara on how to approach my case helping me to strategise and plan effectively with the feasibility report. Silas, who engaged with me on the feasibility report was very knowledgeable and I will have no hesitation to use PbD in future and to recommend them to others.

Retrospective Planning Application for Stables
We were required to apply for retrospective planning for a change of use for land and the installation of a stable. the team at Planning By Design responded quickly and efficiently to our initial query. Our consultation with the planner was extremely helpful and professional, the advice provided and subsequent application and supporting statement were excellent. Excellent service, 5*, definitely recommend
Faultless service- I would & have already recommended to others.
After being told by numerous architects, planning consultants & other agencies over the last few years how difficult the planning process is in a National Park & that we'd never get our proposal passed, it's been so much more straight forward than we anticipated which is all down to yourselves.
Kat, Abigail, Cara, James & the whole team who assisted us were so organised & proactive. The price was really reasonable compared to quotes we'd had from local consultants & we got our approval notice in a fraction of the time compared to what we would have done otherwise.

I approached Planning By Design to have a porch added to my house
From the offset, I have been impressed by the efficiency of Planning by Design. I initially spoke with the Company Director Grant, who was extremely helpful by explaining the planning process and offering reassurance about dealing with my Local Authority. I have since spoken with Kim (Head of Customer Service), who initially followed up on my enquiry and then again when I had further questions. Within days of submitting my enquiry, we had a meeting with Planner Mislav and it was apparent that he had completed research and considered our request in detail, to be able to provide us with guidance on how best to proceed. Within hours, we had received a feasibility report from Mislav. My contact with Planning By Design has been positive so far; everyone I have spoken with has been friendly, and patient when answering our many questions, rather than rushing us or making us feel as if we are a hindrance. They are very efficient and responsive, which has given me the confidence to proceed with the company to complete my project.
