Another great stay - thank you. 5 Stars!!!

This is my second time staying at Plas Weunydd and another great experience. One of my favourite places to stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, hot showers, plenty of room to park, super comfortable beds and pillows - we all slept so well. The team are a real credit to the hotel and I just feel so at home from the minute we arrived - we could just relax and enjoy the bar area and warming up by the log burner. Everyone made us so relaxed and welcomed and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is really well located with so much to do in the surrounding areas. We are already looking forward to coming back. Thank you for a wonderful stay yet again.

Gosh there is so much to be improved

Gosh there is so much to be improved! I would hardly call it a hotel, a b&b at best. No defined reception area, no lifts, no downstairs toilets. They only serve breakfast which is very overpriced, cold and mediocre. No lunch offering/cafe/ sandwiches etc considering there is plenty of passing trade. The evening menu is again overpriced for what it is and you're lucky if they have it in stock. And do not come at me for wanting cheap as i have just paid £325 at a fine dining restaurant today. The cleaning standards are low. On a rainy wet day the establishment could generate so much more revenue by gathering the guests together and hosting events. The staff are so disengaged and not interested. The rooms are very basic with a mirror by the front door and no sockets. Honestly I really don't feel it's my role to tell you how you could make so much more money if you cared. Do better.

Hi Niki,

We have our reception and bar area together as we are a small hotel, and it's easier to find.

We have 3 downstairs toilets, a ladies, gents, and an accessible toilet, all of which a member of staff would have been happy to direct you to if asked.

As for the lift, all of our accessible rooms and amenities are on the ground floor, therefore we have no need for a lift.

We offer breakfast and dinner, and as of the moment we have a low demand for lunch therefore we wouldn't generate any income from this. Coffees and drinks at the bar are on offer all day though, and we may open for lunch service during the busier holidays.

Our food prices are the same as most pubs/resturants in the area, we order in all local stock and cook it in house, if we had run out of something you wanted, i do apologise, but that can happen during the high season as we only get deliveries on certain days.

In Wales we get lots of rainy wet days, and hosting an event is a process that needs careful planning and execution, not just something we can do on the day. There are plenty of activites close by to us to enjoy - even on a rainy day.

Overall, i'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Most of your points could have been rectified here if you had spoken to one of the team - unfortuantely on the one occasion you did talk to a team member you were very impolite and also refused to pay for starters that you had 95% eaten.

Nonetheless, this review has been passed over to management and the team.

Lovely stay and staff

Lovely place and location. Room was really nice and had a big bay window looking down the valley between the mountains. Great way to spend a few mins having a coffee in the morning. Will stay again for sure and great for Zip World. Staff friendly and food was good!

Amazing

Amazing! We stayed in the shepherds hut and it was such a great experience. The buggy is a nice touch and the huts themselves were bigger than expected. Only downsides were check in was a bit confusing, i was asked if i watched the videos prior to arrival but i wasn't sent them, reception sent them to me then but we had no signal to watch them so had to wing it!
We were told to use buggy 4 but it wasn't there and there was no key in it, luckily there was a different one there. and bring extra firewood as there was only enough for about 2 hours, it was absolutely freezing at night!
But overall it was something different, thank you for a fab stay

Great stay in a stunning location.

Plenty of space to park our car and easy access to the hotel. Staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble they were a real credit to the place. Our room was spacious with great views of surrounding area, had lots of extras that covered everything we needed. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced all in very comfortable surroundings. We didn’t have breakfast due to the bad weather as we decided to head home earlier than planned but we plan on returning in the not too distant future. Would highly recommend a stay in this place with its stunning location and surroundings.

Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

The hotel website states it has a 24 hour reception. I arrived just after 11pm but there were no staff in sight. I tried calling their phone number but the phone just rang out in the room I was standing in. Bizarrely, the kitchen and back of house area was still open, so I had a little wander around trying to find someone to help but to no avail. What would have happened if the guests had an emergency in the night?! After an hour of waiting for someone to show up, I gave up and went home. Which meant driving 3 hours at midnight.

Thankfully got a refund the next morning, but no suggestion of compensation, such as a free stay at a later date. Shocking service.

Avoid at all costs.

Fabulous hotel for an adventure away!

This hotel is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore the local area. The bedrooms are beautifully clean and well equipped. It was great to have a bath after a cold wet day out! The staff were great, all really friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The only slight negative is they do not serve snacks in the bar so make sure to pack your own to go with your early evening drinks. There is a Morrisons and Co-Op in the local town which is a 2 minute drive away.
The food is nothing fancy, just perfect for filling up after a day out. But a good choice, and a kids menu available. If you are looking for a luxury hotel break away, this is not the place. If you are looking for a warm, welcoming and friendly stay then this is absolutely perfect. Couldn't fault it!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review.

We’re absolutely delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and found the hotel to be a great base for exploring the local area. It’s wonderful to know that the cleanliness and comfort of the bedrooms stood out — and that a relaxing bath after a cold, wet day made it even better! We’ll be sure to pass your kind comments on to the team; they’ll be thrilled to hear that their friendliness and helpfulness made such a positive impression.

We also appreciate your feedback regarding bar snacks. Thank you for highlighting this for future guests — it’s always helpful to know what would enhance the experience even further.

We’re so pleased you enjoyed the food and found it just right for refuelling after a day out, especially with options for the little ones too. As you said, we may not be a luxury retreat, but we pride ourselves on offering a warm, welcoming and comfortable stay — so it truly means a lot to hear that reflected in your comments.

Lovely welcoming staff

Really enjoyed my stay at Plas Weunydd. Set amongst beautiful scenery which means great walks are on your doorstep. Unfortunately the local town doesn’t offer too much for food options, 2 pubs were closed due to fire damage and the takeaway options didn’t seem brilliant. My room was very cosy, although as the adjoining rooms are so closely set you can here everything and with being on the ground floor and the windows frosted out for privacy I wasn’t able to take in the lovely views.
All staff I interacted with were very welcoming and were both polite and courteous.
The meal and a couple of Guinness’s by the fire after a day of walking in the rain were a great way to finish off my weekend there.

The hotel where we had breakfast was nice. We didn’t eat there in the evening as the menu didn’t offer very much gluten free.

My wife and I stayed recently and would like to say that the staff were very friendly and professional. Obviously the hotel was not busy but that did not detract from the level of service. Free room upgrade was unexpected and nice to have. All in all a wonderful experience. Thankyou.

Hotel was very welcoming especially…

Hotel was very welcoming especially with the dogs. Room warm and comfortable and hotel staff all friendly and always had a smile. My only niggle was the difference between the busy/quiet days in the restaurant. Breakfast on the busy days was kept buffet style on a hot plate, unfortunately it wasn't hot and stone cold, which isn't that appetising. Again on 2 occasions the evening meal wasn't that hot, but the staff seemed very busy so didnt like to add any stress.
Maybe it would be good to invest in a proper hot counter if offering buffet breakfasts.
This didnt spoil are stay and found the location perfect for exploring.

We had a fab family weekend here in 2x glamping hut, fantastic facilities in the huts and clean, very cosy with the log burner going. Each night we went to the main hotel for food and drinks, the food was great and large portions, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.
We will definitely be returning to stay again.
Thank you to all the bar team, chefs and house keepers.

We had breakfast and dinner here which were both fabulous. You can really tell it’s ran by an amazimg team with attention to details. They even put balloons and banners in the room for my boyfriend’s birthday. We absolutely loved it here, thaks so much!☺️❤️

Plas Weunydd amazing

Plas Weunydd, it's a great stay, there's a warm welcome from all the staff, you can bring your dog too, there's great views, sitting places outside for them summer times with a glass or two, we recommend the sparkling rose, or them damp cold evenings sit inside in the warmth, also a log fire awaits you there we recommend the bottle of malbec, sleep peacefully in their comfy beds, showers are powerful you wake up refreshed, and look forwrds after a good breakfast to cease the day, with great walks, up the mountains,or why not see how the miners worked down the deepest mine, if your OK with heights the zip wire would be good also, or take a walk to the quaint town of blaenau, take the Ffestiniog railway to Porthmadog, or see the castle of carnarvon where king Charles was crowned the prince of Wales. Where ever your plans are, start it from your stay at plas Weunydd with a clear head after a good night sleep.
