I have played in a Play Netball league…
I have played in a Play Netball league for over 2 years now. It’s been great, really friendly group of girls! Lovely umpires and lots of fun to be had!
Really glad that I signed up to join…
Really glad that I signed up to join play netball; I’ve got the best team mates where we don’t take ourselves to seriously, have fun and have gotten better too! We socialise outside of netball too. Play netball are good at communicating and it’s been really easy.
Lovely social league
Come back to netball after a 20 year break and have really enjoyed playing in the league. Everyone has been really friendly and the umpires have always been happy ro explain decisions when I have forgotten the rules!
Everybody is friendly
Everybody is friendly, helpful and supportive! I look forward to playing every week!
Play Netball Nottingham
Play Netball Nottingham have friendly teams, regular games and are well priced for what you get.
My team and I hadn't played netball for years when we started 2 years ago and everyone was really accommodating and helped us remember the rules and explained the rules where we weren't sure.
There are 2 divisions so you can play for a higher standard, more competitive league or you can play down in a league that is more sociable and better for all abilities.
Some of the umpires could do with a bit of extra training but on the whole this is a great league and I would really recommend it!
I attended Wednesdays league
I attended Wednesdays league. What a horrible set up. I was bullied most weeks by members, also infornt of the umpires they do nothing. They like certain teams. What I was really was shocked at, A head teacher and a head of PE were one of the worst bullies ever. I would not recommend this play netball it just the pits. Lots of league player's so the ability is so unfair in games. I have seen fights arguments the lot.
Appalling coordination of the league
Appalling coordination of the league. Numerous cancellations over and over again for every reason under the sun, no 'umpires' available and poor communication in the league whatsapp groups.
Also very money hungry, constantly demanding fees are paid before the league has started, and lots of emails threatening teams that they will be liable to fees, 5mins after they have sent an email cancelling all of the evening's games with hardly any notice.
Awful!!!
Expensive & Terrible Culture
They are far too expensive and completely focused on making as much money as possible - the umpires aren’t even qualified and yet are paid £10 per game.
They also market themselves as social leagues that are ‘for all abilities’ but if you don’t play like you’ve played for England you’re alienated and ignored. The culture is terrible as everyone is so competitive and nasty, but the umpires and organisers do nothing about it. I have heard terrible language and nasty remarks on and off court multiple times.
I also had an issue earlier in the year with inappropriate behaviour from an umpire, I raised it will Play Netball directly and I was completely ignored. I also cited their terms and conditions which state that they do not tolerate that kind of behaviour and was yet again ignored.
In summary - they are probably the worst league you could join and there are far better ones out there!
Worst social league
Worst social league
This league is entirely focused on taking money and not on playing. The central team are slow to respond, assign teams, get the right level for players or teams. There is also the intimidation about signing up for leagues and potential debt that I’ve never experienced anywhere else!
Local managers & umpires are for the most part very poor. Run through Facebook, they resort to posts about teams or players when they’re not happy. There is no involvement in helping to organise fill ins, which could make sure people always got a game. It really feels like they couldn’t care less as long as they get your money.
I’m sure the only reason people join is because it’s local. I’d recommend alternative leagues if available.
Would give 0 star rating if I could
Would give 0 star rating if I could. Play netball only care about taking everyone’s money. My daughter could umpire better than their umpires. They happily admit their umpires do not need to be qualified even in the basic Into officiating course! Coordinator of the Worthing league is rude. She uses the weather as reasons why she is not making contact/ replayed ball calls. Games are dangerous through the poor umpiring. You try and complain and they don’t care. There are so many other leagues with qualified umpires and so much cheaper. They won’t tell anyone if games are cancelled till 7pm (first game starts at that time) games are cancelled due to lack of umpires. The amount you pay per game you expect an umpire to know what they are doing. Stay clear of play netball.
If I could give a 0 star rating I…
If I could give a 0 star rating I would. Games cancelled last minute, venues not booked. At one point they held our money hostage for 4 weeks while they tried to source another venue for the final 2 games.
Pay for 2 umpires per game and we're lucky if we get 1 or the game is cancelled last minute. No co-ordinator, costs are extortionate of £90 upfront fees per player for 14 games. We have to give them 1 weeks notice if we want to leave the league yet they can give us notice that games are cancelled at 6.31pm when the games start at 6.30. Shocking! Save your money ladies and find a pay as you play league.
Go elsewhere unless you want short games and bad umpires
Awful set up. Awful umpires.
Paying for a league when umpires regularly cut games short. There’s little warmth and definitely an air of them wanting to just finish and get home.
Many have a bad attitude too.
Often games are cancelled at short notice due to lack of empires which is super frustrating.
Courts are often wet with no prep to clear puddles. This centralised system has little idea what is going on at each location and appear to just be happy taking the money, providing a very shoddy service and umpires.
Would give 0 stars if I could
Would give 0 stars if I could. Week after week our matches have been cancelled as close as an hour before we were due to play, put down to reasons such as ‘lack of umpires’. On more than one occasion we’ve shown up ready to play, and been locked out of the hall, or found the court unsuitable to play and had to leave, with no communication from Play Netball. Dozens of members of the league have emailed complaining time and time again, and get given the same weak excuses from the ‘organizers’. I would absolutely avoid Play Netball like the plague, it’s a complete shambles
Play Netball Reading
I thoroughly enjoy playing netball in this league. Great social league for getting back into netball, having a laugh and improving your fitness levels!
My team always leave smiling every Thursday!
Umpires are all very friendly and welcoming!
Never had any issues with payments etc.
Would highly recommend!
Really fun & friendly league
Really fun & friendly league. Started playing again after about 15 years and was very rusty but the umpires and everyone are always so patient and take time to explain decisions and give tips! Would highly recommend to anyone
Play Netball Southampton
I play in both the Tuesday and Thursday Southampton leagues and manage a team. The league is well organized with a good level of communication (via email and FB pages), and match scores/fixtures are updated promptly on the website. It's a social league with a good balance of competitiveness whilst remaining fun and friendly.
I've been in some truly awful netball leagues but our team was more than happy to pay extra to play in the Play Netball league.
Really well organised games and a great…
Really well organised games and a great social league to be a part of. The refs are great and so are all the girls that play. So glad I joined the league
I love play netball
I love play netball! I've met so many lovely people and everyone is really friendly. I look forward to every Thursday when we get to play.
I think the league is well organised and it's a great way to get some exercise and make new friends!
Great way to stay fit and meet friends
I’ve played in a Play Netball league for about 3 years now and I look forward to every match. I’ve met wonderful people and it’s a great way to stay fit and get some fresh air.
