Awesome shop

Awesome shop, love the atmosphere always friendly staff who always make time to talk to customers and answer questions. My 7yr old daughter loves visiting for the pokemon card machine.

Pokémon grading advice

Went to the shop for advice about Pokémon cards for my son. As he was wanting some of his collection grading.
Spoke at length with Gary about different companies and based on the information he provided went and found a company that I felt confident sending some cards to.

Place was amazing

Place was amazing. Staff were lovely and very approachable, there was a diverse selection of products to browse and choose from: TCG cards, video games, figures etc and everything is really nicely priced and affordable. Would definitely come again.

Should be called STAYAWAY

Got a very abrupt and quite disturbing phone call after 5pm after waiting 3 days for them to deliver 3 miles and paying nearly 6 pounds. They explained previously it wasn't their fault with 2 different explanations, which they didnt phone me to explain, i had to phone them, which i did politely and courtesly. However The phone call well after 5pm from them today went as follows "I'm rude and abusive towards their staff" when I have never been at all. The ridiculous thing is they forgot to send me 3 games and gave me a foreign snes game that won't work in UK but acted like they'd done nothing wrong and im abusive?!. When I asked if I could speak my word on the phone I was treated to him laughing slightly and saying "well".. I remained polite and all i had done was said " really?" in an email in asking what was going on with my final delivery. Instead I was treated to complete scorn. I'm sorry but the 2 people I've seen in charge love to upset the customer and I'll be happy when the place closes like the rest of the earlier game shops in Guisborough. This isnt even the first time ive been subjected to nasty and bitter reasoning from them. Id gladly elaborate further. The ridiculous thing is whilst always remaining completely polite apart from the one "really?"in my latest email i've spent literally hundreds each time at the shop. Yet they still treat the customer like thid? They must not need the money? Oh and they also play modern country music with foul F words and very vulgar explicit foul language in the day time too. Nice place eh? Coming from a good guy... please AVOID!!!!! Nasty place. Plus their website barely gets updated, or their games ever get stocked up, they seem obsessed with Pokemon over anything else but will tell you they are not. I've waited literally 2 months for some new games in the shop. Oh and if you do find something online, don't be surprised if they then refund you because despite their meagre stock, they still can't update what's available. Laughable without a doubt, I mean even the name Playaone? What does it even mean Player one? Would have been better to call it that really wouldn't it? Anyhow I digress, the whole place is an unapologetic place AVOID at all costs. I've edited this and written a 2nd review today too as Playaone have flagged this one as offensive so may be taken down. I can't find anything bad or any lie in it so it's a shame they don't see their attitude towards me as offensive as the reality of my post.

We asked Trustpilot to remove your reviews (which have both been edited multiple times daily since posted) as we didn't want to engage in an argument with a disgruntled customer who has been barred from our store for multiple reasons.
However, they deemed it necessary to leave the review so we'd like to reply with a short input of context to clear up the above.

As a business owner I not only need to provide a service for my customers, but I also need to provide a safe and respectful working environment for my staff and other shoppers.
We have an amazing community of gamers from console to TCG and RPG. You are right, our stock doesn't update like a huge national store, 90% of our games range is pre-owned traded in, so the stock depends on intake.

Our store EPOS relies on a regular update of thousands of products so if a product sells in store it might not update instantly, so it sometimes causes issues. We deal with it the best we can and we work with our customers.

In your time shopping in both our stores we have received complaints from each member of my staff individually about your aggressive and rude behaviour towards them. As well as complaints from multiple customers about your presence in the store.
This came to a head when I was working in store and I personally pulled you up on this. Asking you to mind the way in which you addressed us in store, which was met with the response we came to expect from your visits and since then you opted to place online orders only.

Your right, there was an error in your order. Which was apologised for, we are human and make mistakes. All we can ever do in those circumstances is resolve the best way we can.

There is a lot of ramblings in your review about specific phrases said to you by my staff, which we are aware is a deflection of your behaviour, our other reviews highlight how courteous out staff members are.

Its important to note that any time you placed an online order this was always accompanied with multiple phone calls instantly demanding that the manager hand deliver the items to you the same day. Closing at 17:00 we would then receive calls at 17:04 asking where we were with your order, not a service we offer, but we did so.

The overall theme of your reviews (Apart from insulting our name, hoping that we close, calling our customer base a freak show, commenting on the "sexually explicit country" music we play (please note other customers, no country music here, perhaps some current chart hits) seems to be, that as you were spending hundreds of pounds we are passive aggressive for not withstanding your rudeness and abuse, and as you put it "we must not need your money".

No matter if a customer is spending £1 or £1000, staff do not deserve to be treated the way you have treat our staff.
We are not passive aggressive for asking you not to be rude to staff, we are simply demanding a minimal level of courtesy.

All reviews have two sides, we stand by our multiple requests for your behaviour to our staff to change.
We also stand by our decision to ban you from both our physical and online store.

P.S. We also love our business name, we love our community and we stand by our staff.
