This was my first playtest and it was fantastic to take part in. The staff are accomodating and communicative, keeping close correspondence where needed the week before the playtest. Additionally, they're very understanding. On the day of the playtest I was running slightly late; luckily there are multiple ways of contacting them and they responded quickly. The experience itself is very organised and casual; you're asked your true opinion and there's no pressure or incentive to say something "wrong". Finally, the pay is also quick and efficient! I would definitely go again.

I've been a regular participant at Player Research and would 100% recommend it to any interesting in video games or video game development.

The staff at Player Research were all lovely and welcoming and it was a very cool experience getting to test new games. The compensation was very fair and I felt valued and respected for my feedback.

Very cool experience, you get paid to test video games and everything is unbiased so you’re free to give your complete honest opinion no matter what and still get paid. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys playing games as they have all sorts of genres that they test.

My advice to anyone who is thinking about signing up would be to go for it. You get to play new fun games, and you get paid for it too, what more could you ask for?

Our son (12) did a playtest with Player Research and really enjoyed the experience, plus the added bonus of earning himself some spending money! The team are great and explain everything to the kids, and their adult guardian/chaperones.
He’s really eager to take part in another test asap!

What a fantastic experience testing with Player Research! The team was incredibly friendly and professional from start to finish. I felt welcome and comfortable the entire time, and the environment was spotless—a truly top-notch setup. A special shout-out to Ely and Ellen for being so awesome. Their energy and professionalism made the session a real pleasure. I can't wait to test with them again!

Yes, it is a real thing. You do get money for your opinion about unreleased video games.
So far, I had 3 playtests, one of which was VR (so on top of the money, I got to test the Oculus Quest 3, and decide if I'd like one for myself).
I got paid the next day on two occasions and once during the train ride back home.
You sign NDAs and then you are placed in a cubicle, where you play sections of a game, and in between you fill out some forms - nothing intimidating, just questions about how you feel about the characters, the story.
The sessions can be as little as 3 hours and as long as two days.
But it's fun, it's a nice break from reality.
I literally took two days holiday for the latest playtest I got invited to. Got paid more money playing a AAA game for about 10 hours than I would have made working overtime for a week and half.
Ely and Ellen due a great job of keeping things relaxed, from the initial phone call, where you'll discuss more about the games you played, through the playtest day and payment process.
There is a mix of geek culture and science stuff inside Player Research, and the people are genuine and warm.
Hope to get more invites.

This was my second time play testing for Player Research. Both times they were very accommodating and really valued my feedback. Not to mention but play testing games is very fun and being paid to do so is even better!

Would highly recommend applying for one if you have the time. The play tests range from large multi day sessions to smaller singular sessions

A really responsive and professional team from first contact through to payment (the day after the in-person playtest was completed). I was pleased to play a game and provide feedback under their calm supervision. I have signed up to their playtest mailing list in hope of returning!

This was my second playtest and it ran just as smoothly as the first. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and every aspect was straight forward, allowing you to play the game as you wish (for the most part) with only occasional breaks for surveys. Payment came the same day and was at a very good rate for a morning of playing video games. If you have a flexible schedule I can't recommend enough.
