Don't Trust "Play Your Court"

From the reviews on this website (and several others), it is clear that this company has an integrity problem. Assertions by the company are made regarding products, services and return policies (without documentation), which are later changed. Here’s my example.

During the first week of October-2024, I had an extended conversation with the owner of Play Your Court (PYC) regarding the purchase of a $10,000 celebrity tennis package which was scheduled for March 8, 2025. As part of the conversation, I questioned the owner about a refund policy if I needed to cancel. The answer I received was that they would refund the money if sufficient time was given before the event took place. When I asked about the “sufficient time” I was told that about 2-3 months was sufficient.

On 11/15/2024, I contacted the owner by email, informing him that I might need to cancel due to a schedule change. At no time did the owner respond stating that a refund would only be provided if the tickets could not be resold. On 1/7/2025. I sent an email to the owner requesting cancellation of my reservation. Only at that time did the owner respond stating that he could not provide a refund unless he could resell the tickets. This is the first time this policy was stated.

Multiple communications were exchanged subsequent to this request. The owner also stated that he spent over $10,000 in advertising to try and resell these tickets. He failed realize that if I had never purchased the tickets in the first place, he would still have spent money on advertising to sell them…he just used my money to pay for the advertising then used that as an excuse to refuse the refund.

Needless to say, I have not received any refund from this company. Beware if you are thinking about using this company’s products or services. Get everything in writing before handing them any money.

UPDATE on 3/24/2025:
Here’s what the reply from Play Your Court stated incorrectly or failed to address at all:

1) There is no transparency. The policy was not “clearly communicated” due to differing opinions as to what was said. Clear communication for a financial transaction is providing the refund policy in writing, which this company doesn’t do…not in emails, not in advertising, and not on their website.

2) The cancel request was more than 2 months from the event date (email documentation proves this). Also, the company was notified 4 months prior to the event date of a potential cancellation and NEVER mentioned the refund policy.

3) The company failed to mention that I wasn’t interested in any of their other products and told them so. This was not a fair resolution by any means, as the company would like you to believe.

4) The claim about providing “exceptional customer service” is joke. If you take the time to read the complaints on other websites, particularly the Better Business Bureau, you will quickly see just how bad their customer service is. Not my complaint, but the complaints of others.

5) The company did not exhaust every effort to accommodate me. Every effort would have been a refund. In point of fact, the company has completed failed to provide any response or defense to the assertion that if I had never purchased the tickets, they would have spent their own advertising dollars to try and sell them. The problem is, they want you to believe this was a financial burden for them when the truth is they used my money to fund the advertising, instead of refunding me and using their own. They win…I lose.

My purpose in sharing this information is simple: Ask yourself if you want to do business with this company?

Transparency and fairness are incredibly important to us, which is why we clearly communicated our refund policy multiple times—both at the time of purchase and again when you requested to cancel.

As we do with all customers for all of our live events, we explained that if a cancellation was necessary, we would refund the purchase in full if we were able to resell your event spots. However, as the event date approached, the likelihood of reselling became more challenging. Despite your formal cancellation request coming in less than two months before the event, we went above and beyond by investing additional time and marketing dollars solely to attempt to resell your spots. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were unable to do so.

Additionally, in an effort to find a fair resolution, I personally offered to apply the full $10,000 toward other products and services on our platform—an offer I made both via email and text. I also repeatedly invited you to discuss alternative solutions over the phone, but you declined. While we always aim to provide exceptional customer service, we cannot override clearly communicated policies, especially when we have exhausted every effort to accommodate you.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we genuinely did everything in our power to help. While we regret that we couldn’t meet your expectations in this case, we stand by our policies, which are in place to ensure fairness to all of our customers and the longevity of our business.

We appreciate your feedback and always strive to improve our processes to serve our community as best as possible.

Fabulous experience taking lessons with…

Fabulous experience taking lessons with Abdeslam. On the social interaction side of things, he's energetic, enthusiastic, and supportive, and on the tennis side, he knows the game, and how to get you to improve. I learned so much from him, just in the first lesson. And he can tell you great stories about Morocco, if you only ask!

Love the coaching experience!

Richard is a great instructor! We started the lesson by rallying for a bit so he could see where I was at, and then we focused on dialing in my basic forehand. My form and consistency improved immensely after just the first lesson. Looking forward to more!

Coach not in right area/not willing to travel

HI PLEASE HELP I WAS LOOKING FOR A COACH ABLE TO PROVIDE LESSONS IN MY AREA, I PRECISELY INDICATED THAT I WILL BE PROPOSING THE COURT. However this site recommended me a coach who is 10 miles away and NOT WILLING TO TRAVEL to my court. I NEED A REFUND ASAP OR HELP WITH FINDING ANOTHER COACH. The coach's site said he's based in Boston but he's not.

Fabulous first lesson

Fares was fabulous! He was quick to observe where I needed help with my form. He offered tips one or two at a time, the most important first, without overwhelming me all at once. He was encouraging and positive throughout, while still pushing me to work hard. I am definitely booking my next lesson ASAP!
