Unpleasant hotel, trying to scam me a year later

I stayed with their King's cross hotel last year, it wasn't as advertised, it stank and was generally unpleasant. Over a year later they've forged another booking under my name and details and I'm being harassed by them. Please don't stay there.

NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL

NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL! This hotel is being sold as something it is not. For a 3S hotel, tea making facilities should be in each room - or available in the common area in reception. Not only no kettle [do i really have to buy a travel kettle for London?] but to try and charge £2.50 for a cup in your own hotel is a rip off. It's £2.40 round the corner in Sainsbury's.

So no welcome cup of tea for this disabled traveller when I arrived. Then came the room. Disappointment is an understatement. The pics on this site are for the disabled room. That's why it looks so spacious. Next time I'll book that as I almost had a fall in the bathroom as the shower is too small. Actually, there won't be a next time.

The rooms are tiny. I mean really, sell this as a pod hotel. The shelves fold down from the wall. Think about that - 'fold down from the wall'. Never seen anything like it in my life and I'm an experienced hotel traveller.

Then there's the hanging space i.e. your room decorations. Don't try and put any more than two things on the buttons as they just fall off. Why the hotel gives dozens of hangers is a mystery to me. Mine ended up on the floor.

These are single person pods only. Two of you will be heading for couple's counselling after one night in this room. Bathroom is tiny. Two towels and a bathmat only.

For location - great. If this is your first time to London and you don't care where you lay your head, maybe this will work for you. Personally, even then I'd feel a sinking feeling every time I had to go back to it. Confinement is a better term for your stay.

Breakfast usually makes up for it but it is 'continental' i.e. an ok croissant, spam ham and hard cheese.

Final word. No.

Checked in to Point A Kings Cross on 25…

Checked in to Point A Kings Cross on 25 Nov 2025 with a three night reservation - paid in full at the time of check in. Had to check out on 26 Nov 2025 due to a family situation. They refused to refund the two night difference. Be careful when using the shower in room 116, the mold in it might be harmful to your health.

HMO meets youth hostel

If you’ve ever wanted to experience the charming ambience of an overcrowded HMO fused with the carefree chaos of a youth hostel, this hotel is your dream come true. Paper-thin walls ensure you’re fully included in every guest’s late-night hobby: door-slamming, floor-stomping, and what I can only assume was competitive furniture dragging. Sleep? Don’t be ridiculous.

As for breakfast, for the bargain price of £13 you’ll be treated to a “continental buffet” that bravely redefines the word basic. Think limp pastries, sad cereal, and the distinct feeling you’ve been robbed before 9 a.m. Truly inspirational stuff.

In summary, if you’re looking for rest, comfort, or value for money, do yourself a kindness and stay literally anywhere else. Two stars, only because I can’t give zero without feeling petty — and trust me, this place has tested the limits of my bitterness.

Do not stay here ever!!!

I checked out this morning to go to work, once at work I realised I had left rings in the bathroom! Called the hotel to say can you put them to one side I’ll come and collected them only to be told they aren’t there.
After reading another review it would seem this chain has some problems my rings have sentimental value. I asked for the contact details for management and have since been ignored!!!!
DO NOT BOOK THESE HOTELS

Item left behind - taken…?

Stayed the night in London on the 23rd of September and left an item behind accidentally. I checked out on the 24th and contacted them that evening to say that I can come fetch my item the following day during lunch… only to be told that it’s not there & that it’s gone. To which I responded that it can’t be gone - it can’t disappear. But got told that unfortunately it’s not there …? Very disappointed. It was basically a brand new item.

Worse customer service of the year!

Customer service is non-existent, and they clearly lack basic common sense. I specifically asked for an invoice before checking in, and was told it would be provided at checkout. However, when I checked out, they told me to email them. Upon emailing, I was informed that they couldn't provide an invoice because I booked through a third party – a complete contradiction!

The rooms are also far from great – they're filthy and in poor condition. Avoid this place at all costs!

Fabulous gem in the city centre.

I use the Point A in Glasgow anytime I am there for the theatre or a show, the rooms are always spotless and twice this year they went above and beyond and I would always recommend this hotel to friends.

Awful customer service

Over the weekend myself and my girlfriend were due to travel to Edinburgh, which my girlfriend had booked as a surprise. However, due the red weather warning being in place on Friday in Edinburgh, all trains were cancelled in northern England and across Scotland. Also in accordance with government advice it was advised not to travel to Edinburgh and everyone should stay inside due to the severe weather, so we had no way of travelling to Edinburgh. I contacted the hotel once this guidance had been released and explained the situation that we had no way of travelling to Edinburgh and wondered if there was anyway I could transfer the booking to another weekend including the week after and pay the difference. I thought due to the exceptional circumstances there would be some understanding, however, I was told that because the room was booked without cancellation the management would not allow this. I totally understand that the room was booked without cancellation but surely due to the exceptional circumstances and following government advice not to travel and to stay inside, something could have been agreed especially when there was rooms available for the following weekend? In the end the only thing I was told was that the booking would remain open in case I could travel, again against all advice. Do not book this hotel unless you do not mind poor customer service.

Point A log in

The log in for members just never works. They send you a code but you have to log out to get it. It has been like this from the beginning. They must have lost thousands of bookings because of it. We certainly won't be booking Point A hotels ever again. I'd rather pay more money for a hotel with a decent website.

Just two minor issues

I found it quite challenging to submit this review. So many positives: very modern eco-friendly hotel; excellent staff especially after I lost my key card within a few hours, but quickly replaced without charge: lovely towels and the room was compact but almost everything I needed. An excellent and diverse choice of items with the “Continental style breakfast” was included in our costs but otherwise could be purchased. It was also helpful to leave items for a couple of hours after checkout, also free.

It was the small issues that I missed, such as hot drink supplies in the room and a kettle, and no instructions as to how to operate the “touch buttons” that controlled some of the facilities. As an “older person” it was not easy to know how to maximise their use thogh my daughter agreed. The free Wi-Fi connected easily on my phone and iPad, though my laptop required a change in the Windows setup.

These minor issues detracted only slightly so I mention these to help future guests to be aware. As I was one of a party of three, I did not book the hotel otherwise I may have been better informed.

Claustrophobic and loud

Terrible Hotel, stayed in Parnell Street. Rooms very loud and small, constant banging from doors of other rooms, everything is controlled with panel, there are no switches, TV didn't work. There was construction work going on from early in the morning, nothing was mentioned on Website. Stay away from this Hotel chain, 1 Star is too much
