They have contempt for their customers

Q: What happens when you treat customers (who have been loyal for many years) like garbage and disregard feedback?
A: Your app goes to the bottom of the rankings and you bleed customers.

They are so cowardly that they've turned-off and deleted comments on Facebook and blocked their own customers.

They are so arrogant that they still refuse to admit that the new app isn't fit for purpose.

Avoid this company at all costs.

Poor company

Prices are changing all the time, and you have to buy a long way ahead to make real savings. When leaving Powershop all of a sudden all the credit I had which should have been refunded disappeared. Would not recommend to anyone.

Terribly disappointed and leaving

I’ve been with Powershop for many years. They have recently transferred me to a new software platform. I recently tried to contact them with a query, email and phone, and have found a “black hole”. Live chat is also useless as it can’t handle customers on the new platform.
I can’t stand companies who are happy to take your money but can’t be arsed with you when you have a even a simple query. I’ll definitely be leaving this company asap. Only hope I get my money back on my prepayments!

Not impressed

Have been with Powershop for a few years now but their new site is horrible. The previous app was very easy to navigate but the new one is meant to confuse. Will be looking for another provider. Not impressed

Loyal Customer Leaving

We’ve been happy with Powershop for years, but are now looking for alternatives. Their new app is amateur, buggy and difficult to navigate. We’ve now been overcharged and there’s no way of seeing where and why, so it’ll be a call to customer service to no doubt wait on the line for hours to get told there’s nothing they can do. Researching other providers this weekend.

price increase and horrible

It was a good company until it raised its prices and moved users to the new app. They force you to sign up for and download the new app, which is not easy to use at all. The worst part is that online chat support is not available on the new app. When you call, you first reach the support team for the old app, who cannot help, even after a two-hour wait. They then transfer you to another team that supports the new app, which means another hour of waiting. How can a company get this BAD so quickly?

Powershop used to be quite reasonable…

Powershop used to be quite reasonable however they recently forced me to "upgrade" from their old app (that worked perfectly) to a new one that is absolute garbage. Buggy, half finished, poor colour palette. It's like a half ass AI version of the old app that worked perfectly. The pink is terrible compared to the old one used and the app is less user friendly than ever before. Their "still to pay" section makes no sense and will be confusing for the elderly. They need to fire the entire team who designed this nightmare. Back to powerswitch to find a better provider. You know they will double down on this new app but its literally not worth the hassle.

Terrible Customer Service

I had Powershop in Australia and loved it. In NZ, it is a disaster. I have been trying to get a quote from them for a week now. People on chat say they are sending it, and it never comes through. They are constantly short-staffed and unresponsive. I'm at the point now when I'd rather pay more.

Awful

Awful!
I only switched to Powershop because my usual provider (Flick) needed a smart meter and my new property didn’t have one. The whole experience has been underwhelming. The “gamified” billing system involves buying tiny powerpacks to save a couple of measly percentages is just irritating. I don’t want to micromanage my power usage; I just want a fair, consistent price per unit.

Customer service doesn’t help the situation. You’re forced through a clunky chatbot and a maze of FAQs before you can reach an actual person. The advisors themselves are very helpful once you get to them, but it often takes too long. When I had to arrange a meter relocation, their seven-day email response time made something simple unnecessarily drawn out.

Overall, the system feels more like work than a service. I’m looking forward to switching back to a provider that just keeps things straightforward.

Average now

Don't go with powershop, been waiting a month for them to pay me what was left in my account, multiple chats emails and still I dont even know if I'm getting refunded, the staff don't help. The only way to really talk to them is chat and a complaint form. Useless. It was good, Consumer best power company apparently. Put the price up too much, buying the bundles is dumb, the customer service is really bad. Keep an eye on the powerswitch thing. These company's don't care for their customers anymore as soon as you see one cheaper do yourself a favor and change. Companies won't even compete to keep you as a customer anymore so I wouldn't bother asking just leave

Emails not answered do not consider Powershop

Emails not answered, wait for ever on the phone to talk to someone who won't help, can't help.

Most expensive power in NZ.

I am in my home once every 3 months for ten days, nothing is running when we are not there, and my power doubled in price when I joined.

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY AS A VIABLE OPTION.

Worst customer service

We got a 2nd property. Our current power company is closing up and not taking on any new property sign ups. So I went to these guys and transferred both properties over. They said everything was fine over the phone. Next, the power at the 2nd property was shut off which sent me into panic mode as it's the office space. I found a hidden email in my junk folder from them saying that they declined my application due to a bad credit check! Which was impossible! I tried to contact them and all they said was contact the credit team. No way am I begging to be their customer. Went to Genesis energy who said my credit was perfect! They got my power back on the same day.

If you want to make power buying punishing…

If you want to make power buying painful move to Powershop! It’s punishing going into the app to buy power, it’s also just dumb waste of time!

The customer support is also horrible! I would highly recommend not using these guys- you save little to nothing for a whole lot more pain!
