Be careful re early exit fees

My electricity contract was due to expire on 12th December so I thought I would get the ball rolling early to change providers. What PTS don't tell you, no mention of this when applying, is that your switch will be effective from the date you make the application, so in my case 1st December. But as my contract didn't expire until 12th I would have been liable for a £40 fee from my current provider. It was only in speaking to the new provider that I was alerted to this and they helpfully let me cancel and reapply for the same tariff. From now on I'll deal direct with the companies
