The app is good. Especially the new tutors. But it has bugs. I started the get-to-know lesson, it stopped in the middle of the second game, and I was suggested to chose the plan. After I confirmed, it... See more

My language is really improved after a year, in my opinion the strongest part of this program is managing the lessons on my abilities and my interesting that increases my enthusiasm day by day. I hope l can continue studying in levels C1 and C2.

Praktika has been a great to practice speaking language that I am learning. I am using it everyday. I really don’t understand how the teacher, which is an ai, can understand me and tailor lessons to suit my needs. The ability to decrease or increase speed and instructors responses is great. This the future isn’t it? It’s unreal!
Bad experience!
My experience is that the tutor speaks and replies in the language I'm trying to study as if I'm a natonal.
The senteces are cut at the end sothat last word is not understand.
advise for the devs and honest review
its usefull and work well , but , its would be great if the free IA (john) speak better , because his voice is a bit altered for no reason
that make the understanding difficult , also , please , To allow the possibility of learning and continuing one's learning without having to pay, not everyone has the means
I was sceptable at first
I was sceptable at first, but I really like this. It is very helpful and customizable to your level and adapts to you. I recommend this app highly. I've used other apps but this one is different and is encouraging.
Praktika is amazing
Praktika is amazing. It is a very fun way to learn a language.
The AI tutor provided a challenging lesson
The AI tutor provided a challenging lesson. I learned new words and used my existing vocabulary and knowledge of grammar to build spoken sentences. The AI tutor spotted areas to correct in my responses.
I’d really advise against this app
I’d really advise against this app, given that other apps are including ai conversation more and more alongside much more established learning infrastructures.
It’s a one trick pony, and Not great at that. Scripted, weird, unnatural conversations, clunky button-to-talk flow, constant “are you ready?” type interstitial questions that block flow, and really slow unnatural responses from the bot. Also, no memory on common errors. In no way like a tutor, and also in no way personalised.
Their support bot has also promised urgent escalation 10 times over 4 weeks.
It works, but not that i expected.
It works, I suppose, but unfortunately, it’s not what I expected. Unless you are a complete beginner who is totally unsure of themselves, it is very distracting that the AI writes out the text before speaking it; the whole process is very slow and unnatural. For me, the goal would be to have a realistic conversation without the text being written out—learning through actual dialogue—but the "free chat" feature is unsuitable for this; it spouts clichés, the conversation is sluggish even at the fastest speed setting, and it doesn't feel like talking to a native English speaker (it feels much more like a school teacher). Unfortunately, the exercises are disappointing; they are exactly like a standard English class, only an AI persona reads the material aloud. My expectation was that it wouldn't resemble school-based learning at all—I’m fed up with that, as I never really managed to learn the language well that way over the years. It works to some extent—the app isn't entirely useless—but it’s not really ideal for someone who wants to practice in a truly realistic way and improve their skills in the process. I don't know how different the paid version is. As it stands, unfortunately, it’s nothing more than an English lesson read aloud by an AI assistant.
Very challenging but I’m glad of it.

Harder to keep up than I thought it would be.
I took a long time to decide if I wanted to try this app. It took me by surprise. It seemed harder than I was expecting. I struggled to keep up in both languages that I tried. I hope the app gets a little more simple. That being said, I liked the way the app allowed me to control the topics that I wanted to learn about in the chosen languages. Hoping to be better in Italian for my trip to Italy in a month and get good enough to speak around my mandarin friends in Las Vegas.

I've been using Duolingo for 555 days now (it tells you).
I'm happy with Duolingo, but I felt I should try a different approach. After reading the reviews here, I decided to try Praktika. Wow. There was an initial assessment of my vocabulary. Then I had to select a tutor, from over a dozen tutors, each having personal characteristics.
My first lesson went very well, at the right level. The subject matter was very focused and appropriate - meeting people. Afterwards, I kept thinking about how eerily human my tutor is. We are years beyond passing a Turing test. She explained things, gave examples, provided word game challenges, and gave calm and polite feedback on my responses. No time pressure. No worries about wrong answers (even though I still have PTSD from French class in middle school). I could also ask questions unrelated to the current lesson, and I got intelligent answers. Camila, my tutor, is everything I need in a language tutor. But it's still a bit disconcerting, because Camila is, after all, an AI construct, albeit a very good one!
The next day, I wanted to review the first lesson. Thanks to a very intuitive interface, I was able to find a transcript, with hypertext. That is, I could click on a word in German, and a popup would display the definition and the pronunciation. I could also click on a speaker icon and it would read the word aloud. And, I could click on a microphone icon and it would listen to me say the word and give me a grade. Besides individual words, I could click on an icon below each paragraph in the transcript and it would display the translation of the entire paragraph. This is great!
Clearly a lot of thought went into the user interface (speaking as a new user and a former software engineer). Kudos to the designers.
I have not encountered any glitches or obvious deficiencies yet. I suspect I haven't discovered all the features.
I'm very pleased so far. And the cost is quite reasonable. Highly recommended!
I love it
I love it, it has made only a tiny error reading my voice but it could be my pronunce.

This kind of learning situation is perfect. There is no stress in talking and there are hints about what you can say if you are unsure.

I've been looking for an app that I can practice my arabic, and it really feels like I'm talking to someone correcting me too, the sad part only is the payment but the rest is 5star, its great app.
Great learning tool
Easy to use and really helpful to practice listening and talking in another language. You can also change levels of feedback and speed of the tutor.

It’s a good way to learn but personally I found out a problem that should be solved: it hasn’t an archive! It’s frustrating not being able to review what has been written!
I don’t think it’s a an impossible issue to be easily and promptly fixed!
Let me know about it asap.
Otherwise for my studies the application won’t be very useful!
Thank you in advance!

The tutor cannot actually hear me when…
The tutor cannot actually hear me when I pronounce the words. I cannot learn to communicate if the words I am speaking are not spoken correctly. When I speak a word the tutor says very good, but I did not actually say anything. This is not teaching me. I cannot communicate if I am not using the correct pronunciation. Very misleading interaction.
So far so good
The best thing is I don't get a lot of emails guilting me to get back to it. That annoyed me with another brand. A fix suggestion, dark letters on a dark background (dark blue writing on a black background) is very tough to see for those of us in our later years.
