Poor quality. Zero customer service

I have an issue having now had these boots and using them almost daily for this winter, over the past 4 months.

When you zip the zipper up, invariably it catches in the very loose fabric underneath the zipper and over time, i.e. only a few times, it starts to tear the fabric. See photos attached. The only way to zip these up and down is to put your finger underneath the zipper as you zip it up AND down. Keep in mind, my wife also bought a pair and the exact same problem occurs with hers. Happy to send a picture of hers as well if you want it.

This is clearly a design flaw as the fabric underneath the zipper is really poorly made, and not structurally sound and incapable of handling the friction from the zipper itself. It often gets caught in the zipper in fact, which makes it difficult to get it unzipped, adding more tearing potential to the fabric.

This fabric should be much more tightly knit and made up of much more structurally tough material. It also needs some type of preventative mechanism to keep the fabric laying down so that it does not come up and get into the zipper (literally every time you zip or unzip the boots).

This is so obvious and impossible to stop from happening that I am wondering if this is covered under warranty as what you see happened only after four months, and it will only get worse, and eventually, it will completely tear the fabric making the boots unusable or impossible from keeping snow and moisture out.

I have e-mailed 4 times over the past week and alled a dozen times over multiple days (no one picks up, no message but only a fax tone after 10 rings) and NO RESPONSE

Wrong Size, Returned, No Refund or Exchange Given

They shipped the wrong size—a European size 7 rather than US. I was told to ship them back for an exchange, which I did and I never received the correct size or a refund. Numerous calls to their store in Montreal said the person who handled exchanges was not in. Well after several calls, he was never in, then he doesn’t work there anymore. I tried to get a refund through PayPal, but the case was decided in favor of the seller because they provided evidence of shipment. Well it was evidence of the original shipment, not the exchange!! This shows non existent customer service, incompetence, or outright fraud—posssibly all three. And US customers, read the fine print on shipping as you will have to pay the tariff to receive the item. Ok, that was my fault, for not reading their shipping policy but buyer beware.

Find another shop

Customer service is non-existent and if you order from the US, they make you pay import fees without any notice upfront. It's in the shipping policy, but few people are likely to read that prior to making a purchase.

This sort of bait and switch behavior and customer service radio silence is on brand for them. Steer clear

Customer Service Radio Silence

I ordered two pairs of boots, one for myself and one as a gift. They didn't have half sizes or a recomendation for sizing up or down if you are a half size, so I had to guess on the size. The boots I gave as a gift didn't fit, so I contacted Prato through email to set up a return. It's been nearly a week and I haven't heard anything back. I've also tried calling and messaging their Facebook page. No one answers the phone, and the only response I got from the Facebook message was an automatic "we'll respond to your inquiry in the order it was received" in French, so I had to put it in Google translate just to understand.
