Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 104 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Customers frequently encountered unexpected and misleading charges, often related to mandatory insurance or additional fees not disclosed upfront, leading to significantly higher final costs than initially quoted. Many also reported poor customer service, including rude staff, long waiting times for shuttles, and difficulties with vehicle pickup, sometimes resulting in missed appointments. Furthermore, reviewers often found the rental locations inconveniently off-site and sometimes described the facilities as run-down or difficult to find. Concerns were also raised about vehicle condition, with some customers receiving dirty cars, vehicles with mechanical problems, or even roach infestations. However, some customers also noted positive experiences, particularly with the Toronto location. These reviewers highlighted helpful and quick service, including free upgrades and assistance with avoiding tolls, praising the staff for their friendly and efficient approach.

Prepaid via Expedia

Prepaid via Expedia. Priceless at Tampa Airport refused to release the car unless I bought their insurance, even though I had full coverage. Expedia tried to contact them for a refund, but they never answered — likely on purpose. Avoid this company.

Total scam

Total scam. We booked a car for 290$, but upon arriving with couple of buses, they insisted we pay more than 1000$. We had to walk out to their nearby rental company and got another car. Their people told us, Priceless always scams 4x prices. Stay away from this scam place.

NEVER USE PRICELESS

Location was in a bad part way off site of the airport. Upon arrival with no way transportation from their office, they proceeded to upcharge everything. My insurance was sufficient but they didn't "like" my deductible!! While I was on the phone with my insurance agent they would not let me change it then to meet their "satisfaction" overall the rental would have cost me an additional $210.00- we cancelled and had to hope they would take us back to the airport to try to rent from someone else last minute! Praise to Enterprise Rental who took care of us last minute with no upcharges and total cost was $247.00!!

This car rental company is to be avoided at all costs

This car rental company is to be avoided like the plague. Truly the worst car experience of my like by a million miles. I was sent out from the Nice, France branch with a dirty and smelly car that had not been serviced in months. The tires were shot and one headlight was burned out. The oil light came on on the second day of this 3 week rental and I had to go to a garage to have oil added to the engine to prevent it from burning up. The refuse to return my security desposit when I return or the refund the oil I put in the engine to save their mess of a car. The don’t car about their customers at all. They are just after your money and customer service is totally unknown to them. They are a client scamming operation. THEY ARE A NIGHTMARE. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THEM FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER!

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IT IS THE WORST. THEY SET A VERY LOW PRICE AND IN THE END IT IS MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN YOU IMAGINE, AND WHEN YOU WANT TO CANCEL YOU CAN'T AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT THROUGH EXPEDIA. EXPEDIA CAN'T HELP YOU AND YOU WILL END UP RENTING SOMEWHERE ELSE AND PAYING THIS.

Scam

Scam! Avoid at all cost! They will add fees once you get there and say it’s mandatory even if you have proper insurance. This is a deceptive company who needs to be held accountable!

If I could make this a zero no star…

If I could make this a zero no star review I would. This was, without question, the worst rental experience I have ever had. I had prepaid for my rental and arrived fully prepared, only to be blindsided at the counter with an outrageous demand for an additional $280 in so-called “California insurance.” I already carry valid insurance and had purchased the extra coverage in advance, yet they insisted on piling on hidden, deceptive charges that were never disclosed in my paperwork. The entire interaction reeked of bait-and-switch tactics and dishonest upselling. I walked away rather than reward their shady business practices. Shift Car Rental is aptly named—shifty, misleading, and absolutely not to be trusted.

Horrible Experience, very costly

They used a brand new photo of vehicle with copy and paste date on bottom wich showed a non scratched image. When I turned in the vehicle, they tried to say the vehicle had been damaged by me. The damage was not caused by me in the 2 days I had it. The scratch showed rusted exterior of scratch. It had also been painted over at some point. A new scratch would not be rusted. I did not cause any damage to vehicle that I rented. They said I had to purchase their insurance. I have my own policy, that would cover any damages.I also was supposed to have an SUV. They said to save me time, I was getting an Altima. They also said I needed to purchase toll road fees. I didn't need to use toll roads. I don't think honesty and ethics are in the manual of Priceless car rental. I am very unhappy with this entire experience. They said if I used a debit card for the price of rental, they would need to use a credit card for deposit, they called it a refundable hold. They used my debit card for the $500 hold. Upon returning the car, they charged another charge of $780, which processed right away. No explanation of reason. I have tried to reach out many times, with no response. This was location of Fort Lauderdale. The place looked like "Sanford and Son" garage. Very dirty people were rude. There was no pre-inspection done by them. I work in the auto industry ,so I did my own inspection. The scratch was there, and I took pictures.I highly recommend you never use this company at any of their shady locations. It will cost you. Thank heavens, my bank disputed these false charges. I went through Priceline to make the reservation. Priceline should be ashamed to use them as an option.

Took forever to get our car, it takes two bus rides to get there, they made us take out extra insurance we didn't need and now I can't get my deposit back. I received a one line response to my email saying "check with your bank" Completely incompetent

Shameful treatment of our military families.

My fiancée is serving in a front-line role with Special Forces overseas. Her 6-month deployment is ending and she was scheduled to come home tomorrow. I was flying from Rhode Island to New Orleans today. Due to DOD head Pete Hegseth scheduling a mandatory in-person meeting in Virginia of every single General and Admiral in the US military, her troop's flights home were canceled. She and I found this out an hour before I was leaving for the airport to fly to New Orleans. My car rental was paid in advance and non-refundable. I understand that agreement, but we gambled that any unexpected delay might be a day or two and not an entire cancellation, so I would have still traveled and awaited her arrival. I called to cancel so they had an available car. I was not looking for a refund, just possibly a credit because I will need the rental whenever her flight is rescheduled - in 5 days, 10 days? But, no credit. No refund. "If maybe you had an illness we could refund," I was told. So if I lied and said I had Covid instead of a cancellation by the United States Military due to a mandatory Department of Defense meeting called by the administration of the President of the United States, I might get a REFUND, but when it comes to our service members being held in a front-line overseas position, I cannot even get a credit to be used in the coming days? So I lost 100% of my refund AND I was kind enough to let them know they have an available car to rent out - so they get to double dip and get paid for my unused rental and whoever rents it today. I wasn't even looking for a refund. Priceless, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Your commitment to those serving your country and allowing you the freedom your to run your business is "commendable" (that's sarcasm). I will never use you again, so you will lose far more from me than you took, and we will share our experience among her and our military families. Just absolutely shameful.

One of worst companies I have ever…

One of worst companies I have ever dealt with in over 50 years of travel.
Their practices are bordering on criminality status.
After advising them I would be late they still went ahead and cancelled my booking. I had to make another booking costing me more than twice the original booking. Shame not a zero rating.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS..

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE SCAMMERS... If I could rate this business below zero, I would. It is the absolute worst rental car company I have ever dealt with and the worst experience I've ever had renting a car.

I rented a car in May when I went to visit my family in Florida for what was supposed to be a full size SUV Kia Sorento for about $275. When I got there, it ended up being $671. This included a $30+ per day charge for insurance which was useless and should have been $11/per day which I was prepared to pay. The car was a downgrade to a Nissan Kicks which was a small crossover SUV. They also proceeded to charge me a $500 deposit when online it said $250. They didn't care what it said online, the guy said, "that is what we charge here.". It was the absolute worst customer service... I had no choice but to proceed because if I didn't, I would have still been charged so I was stuck. When I left the lot, I called to report a sound the car was making which was not in good shape and mentioned the downgrade but was told that the car is a "full size SUV" according to THEIR system. It was unreal what I had to deal with. All these people do is rip you off... They did end up giving me another Nissan Kicks considering the noise the first one was giving me but then the second one was also in bad condition. It sounded like the bottom was going to fall out every time I stepped on the brakes. It was terrible... Both crappy cars not in good condition at all.

It gets worse.. I took the car down to the Keys where I ended up getting a flat tire. I called Priceless to see if they had any of roadside service or some sort of assistance but they never answered. So, I had to figure out how to get my mom and I back on the road. Thankfully the farm we were visiting was able to suggest a mobile service from Key West which made an emergency trip to plug the tire. It cost me $165 after finding out the tire was bald with super low thread. I had no idea!

Additionally, I had to pay to run the car through a car wash and vacuum it myself because apparently, if they see any kind of sand or anything they think is "not clean" they can charge you $50 to $600 so I didn't want to take a chance. Even though I cleaned the dirt and nastiness from what was there previously so I wouldn't get blamed for it.

When I went to return the car, I mentioned that I paid for the flat repair and that the tire was bald to try to get reimbursed for what I paid but they did nothing but tell me to contact his manager and gave me his email and business card.

I reached out several times and got one response saying that I could have used the spare tire which I had no idea the car had. My own car being a 2020 doesn't even have a spare tire. Most cars after that year don't have them so I had no idea nor would I have been able to switch the tires myself. After that response, I already knew, they weren't going to do anything about it so I demanded my deposit return which they had yet to do.

I've been fighting with my credit card company ALLY for months who is also terrible with customer service and do not recommend banking with. Still waiting to get my deposit back...

It is now September. I went down to Florida to visit my parents again and went to the Priceless rental car place in person to demand I get my deposit. The girl at the desk gave me a receipt showing $481 was refunded in June. I told her my deposit was for $500 not $481.. She said it was due to the "credit card machine" charge. So they charged me for a credit card machine fee for something that was not even a charge. It was a DEPOSIT.

This has been a total nightmare from hell!

Now, I'll be going back to ALLY to see where the $481 is because it was never credited back to my credit card. At least now, I have something that shows the return but it will not stop here because I will be reported this business to the BBB, plastering them all over my social media platforms, and reaching out to my contacts in South Florida to have them plastered on the news!

This company has engaged in fraudulent…

This company has engaged in fraudulent and deceptive business practices. They have shown a clear pattern of dishonesty and unprofessional conduct. Their explanations about the $1,500 charge on my credit card have changed multiple times. First, I was told the amount was only a temporary hold until my insurance coverage was verified and that I would be sent a form to request reimbursement. Later, I received an email apologizing for the delay and promising to provide the paperwork. After that, the company stopped responding for months and only replied once I posted a truthful review online.
I want to stress that I never authorized this $1,500 charge. The agent, Gabriel, took my driver’s license, insurance card, and credit card, but at no point told me my card would be charged. I found out the next day only because my Discover card sent me an alert. To make matters worse, the company created a falsified receipt suggesting I had signed for the charge three days before the accident. I have the original receipt with the correct date, time, and amount, which proves their receipt was fabricated.
I have provided this evidence to the Florida and Georgia Insurance Commissions, and the Federal Trade Commission is investigating. This company has many similar complaints online—consumers reporting unauthorized charges, overbilling, and intimidation. They ignored both me and my insurance company for nearly four months.
When I requested a copy of the insurance policy, as directed by the Florida Attorney General’s office, they admitted they did not have that information. I also contacted Call for Action, which is investigating additional reports of fraud by this company.
This is not an isolated incident. Their behavior reflects a consistent pattern of scamming customers, If you have been a victim contact Insurance commission, FTC and Attorney General office.

The cars in this location is infested…

The cars in this location is infested with roaches!!!!!
Our first car the windshield wipers did not work! It had absolutely no liquid fluid, then the horn did not work! But the worst it had some roaches coming out inside the car.

They gave us another car supposedly a higher quality it ran good but the clincher was that it was infested with roaches!!!! Every time we went inside the car once it was night time they started to come out like if they were ants. They was no stopping them. I bought a spray to no avail! My last resort was to get a roach bomb put it in the car and have the car detailed!!!! Money out of our pockets!!!
Priceless should be ashamed of them selves!!!
DO NOT RENT FROM THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡

DECEPTIVE!

DECEPTIVE!! Avoid them at all costs. DON'T be deceived by the low daily rate. Priceless required a MANDATORY insurance for $25/day plus additional deposit that is NOT disclosed online or easily seen. I booked through Bookings.com for 15 days and added Full Coverage. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, all the above costs were revealed which would require over $1,000 more. They said the full coverage I had purchased from bookings.com is from a third party and I MUST purchase their coverage. I DID NOT accept, called an Uber and rented a car from a large and reputable company. ( I wasted $58 in Uber fare to get there and back)

Stay away, stay away, avoid like the plague.

Got our car, a little older than expected but within reason, especially considering the very low rental price. That's where the good news stop.

One and a half hours out of Paris the air conditioning died. I don't mean that the sure wasn't cool, I mean that there was no air coming out at all. I'm 30 degree C, that made the car undrivable.

Contacted Priceless and was told to look for a garage in Normandie that could fix the car, pay for the repair, and keep the receipt so they could reimburse me. No mention of exchanging the car, or at least finding a place to fix it, or to pay for repairs.
No such garage could be found.
I ended having to drive the hours back to Paris to return the car and cancel the rental, then go get a proper car from Avis and drive the hours back.

Start away from this clown show.
