REACTIVATING WITHOUT CONSENT BEWARE!!!

I opened a private recently not realizing we couldn't obtain a physical address of service. It was canceled within 2 hours of opening & confirmation was sent. The very next day I received 2 separate emails, 1 asking why I left & 2 reactivation (not by me!). After an email to them they confirmed the account was closed and advised me not to reactivate (of which I didn't in the first place). 2 days later I recieve another activation email, which yet again wasn't me... in fact I haven't even been online let alone on that site since. I have since followed up and requested complete removal and closure of my account as I am concerned my personal data is being used by an unauthorized user or the company are hoping I go past this 'trial period' to obtain funds. USERS BEWARE, go with trusted companies like NZ Post as it's clear there is compromise here or other issues occurring. Please do better Privatebox!

Caution if you terminate

I used Private box for c. 1 year.

No problems with their service. But when I terminated a few days later I received advice from N IRD compliance that "Private Box have advised us that you no longer......."

No issue with the service. But this seems a pretty underhanded way to ensure that you continue to use the service.

To clarify, when a registered office service is cancelled, we are legally required to notify the Companies Office (and by extension, IRD) that we are no longer the registered address for that entity.

Before this happened, our team sent three reminders to ensure you had enough time to update your company details to a new address. This notification isn't a tactic to keep you as a customer, but a necessary step to ensure your company remains compliant with NZ law. It is the responsibility of the company directors to maintain an active registered office address.

Wouldn't accept legally valid ID

Wouldn't accept legally valid ID. I applied for an account with this company and the biometric system they use to validate ID would not accept my New Zealand passport. When I emailed the company to ask if a human could process the application, they said I could use another form of ID (which I don't have) but refused to process my legally valid New Zealand passport. In their words, "it is a machine making the call". Disgusted by the lack of empathy shown by customer service, in the company for their lack of ability to process the application, and their overall decision to not accept my ID manually. Horrible experience, and not worth wasting your time using this service.

Seamless service

Seamless service. I used Private Box for over a year (for business address purposes and mail management). I had no issues throughout the time I used the service. Staff were always helpful and I found the service incredible seamless. I would recommend.

Great service for over a decade...

I'm a Private Box customer since 2009. During these fourteen years life has changed a lot - including being stranded in Europe (my origin) unexpectedly during Covid-19 for quite some time - as "New Zealand was closed".

Especially during the epidemic, Private Box services were extremely important - as I was able to receive and send letters (with international mail services basically non-existent).

While the annual fee is basically the same rate as for a NZ PO Box, the services available outnumber by far what New Zealand Post has to offer - not to mention the 'extra services' I've requested in the past (which were processed, as always, during the same business day).

The fee structure is transparent, mail forwarding is swift and scanning services are safe and secure. Not to mention that it is a small(er) business, so they care more than government-run organisations - which you will notice after you've been a client for some time.

So in conclusion, if you're out and about frequently and/or are looking for more than just an ordinary PO Box (and remember: many companies and government agencies do not accept PO Boxes as mailing addresses), you've come to the right place...

I was a customer of this organisation…

I was a customer of this organisation for almost 10 years. During that time, the costs went up and up, and the service went down and down. They take your money without notice and will not issue refunds without making you do a "clawback" with your bank. They are very unprofessional and unhelpful. FIND ANOTHER SERVICE!

As previously advised, your credit card had become blocked by your card issuer, and it is up to you to contact your bank to re-activate the card so we can complete a refund.

We can only send money via a bank transfer six months after the original transaction date.

Limitatation of Registered Office with Private Box

Just recently signed up to Private Box. The service has been good, Our company required just a registered office in NZ. Unfortunately we found out that we cannot store our core docs required in NZ for a Registered Office. For that service you have to pay around $1300!!! So if looking to have a Registered Office may be better off with just a standard Accountants office service for a few hundred dollars and having the ability to store the requisite docs required by the NZ Companies Office.

A "Principal place of business" for an ASIC or Overseas Company will cost $1300+gst per year as we act as your local agent. A "Registered Office Address" can be added to our business mailbox for $201.74 per year (ex gst) and is included free of charge with the Premium mailbox. This is only available for NZ Limited Companies as there is no "Registered Office" for overseas companies - this concept does not exist on the New Zealand Company Register.

Three years of flawless service

Three years ago I wanted to incorporate a company in New Zealand from the opposite side of the world (europe), for a purpose that is assentially a non-profit organisation having a very limited budget.

First, at PrivateBox I found all the information necessary to go through the incorporation process myself and to understand all NZ compliance requirements without spending money for a specific company to manage the process on my behalf.

Then, during the following three years I regularly received from PrivateBox all the necessary assistance to deal with our mail, with our obligations regarding the documentation to be stored in NZ, and so on. With a local provider like PrivateBox, managing a company from abroad couldn't be easier.

Providers of this kind of services must necessarily perform verifications to ascertain the identity of their customers and prevent that the service is used to create fake identities and fraudulent impersonations. The verifications that they performed in my case were especially professional and non-invasive.
