The service was absolutely amazing and well worth the cost. Lots of useful advice and support, delivered with a non-judgemental approach. Our midwife was extremely knowledgeable and supportive.
The support at the delivery and help with breastfeeding straight away plus the frequency of visits was invaluable.

Helen was an amazing support to me from the minute I met her. I had such a positive Birthing experience at home. The support and care I received was incomparable. I would recommend a homebirth with private midwives to anyone. I had such a calm experience.

I can’t put into words how wonderful our experience with Emma at Private Midwives was. She truly goes above and beyond every step of the way, we even had a long phone chat to discuss her approach to birth and midwifery before I had signed up for my package of care. From that very first conversation I knew I was going to be in safe hands and I was right.
I cannot fault any aspect of the antenatal/postnatal care, and the labour itself was one of the best experiences of my life which will stay with me forever. I truly believe this wouldn’t be possible without the personalised 1:1 care received from Emma and the amazing relationship we developed. She is so supportive, always responding so quickly to any worries or questions I had. She was always sensible and evidence-based in her advice to me and because she knew me so well, was able to provide tailored care. This is such a huge difference to explaining any pregnancy symptoms to someone who has never met you on a midwife triage call. I am so grateful for how she guided me, particularly in my last trimester where it felt like there was one thing after another going on, we were even having a late night phone call on Christmas Day! Needless to say, without her I’m sure I would have been experiencing huge amounts of anxiety during pregnancy, but luckily she was there to reassure me every step of the way.
I honestly feel so lucky to have had the home birth of my dreams, particularly after a previous traumatic hospital birth. Emma gave me confidence the whole way through and made me believe in myself. She respected all my wishes during labour and was a calm and supportive presence throughout. The second midwife Nash was also amazing, and it felt so lovely to be chatting to them both post-birth with a cup of tea!
The support via email and phone from the management and admin team is also fantastic, they were brilliant in chasing up my birth pool delivery when it was a bit delayed and had I had any other issues, I know they would have been very responsive. It’s definitely a person-centred approach all the way through.
There’s so much more I could say but if you are reading this and wondering whether it’s the right decision (especially for a home birth) just do it, you will not be disappointed, especially if you’re lucky enough to get Emma as your midwife! I will miss all her lovely voice notes so much, they never failed to put a smile on my face! She is definitely made to be a midwife and the dedication she puts into each of her clients is nothing short of amazing. Thank you so much Emma x

From the moment we met Emma, we knew we were in the safest and most compassionate hands. As a new dad, I wanted nothing more than for my wife to feel supported, empowered, and cared for during the birth of our first child—and Emma made that possible in ways we could never have imagined.
Her calm presence, deep knowledge, sense of humor and unwavering encouragement gave us so much courage. She guided us through every step with kindness and expertise, always ensuring that my wife felt in control and listened to. Watching her work with such skill and compassion gave me peace of mind, allowing me to be fully present for the birth of our baby.
Emma gave us knowledge, confidence, reassurance, so much care and love and a memory of birth that we will cherish forever. We will always be grateful for her. For her warmth, her wisdom, and the love she brought into our home on that incredible day.
Thank you, Emma, from the bottom of our hearts. You are truly extraordinary.

It’s hard to put on to words how exceptional the service has been at Private Midwives. Our midwife Emma was our absolute rock - she went above and beyond at every turn and by the end of our journey with her she felt like part of the family. We will always be eternally grateful to her for bringing our beautiful daughter in to the world and everything we had hoped for in terms of a positive birth experience this time around was delivered by Emma. The antenatal and postnatal care was also wonderful and helped supplement what was missing with the NHS when we had our son a few years ago. I would highly recommend this service - we also used a lactation consultant and tongue tie expert through Private midwives who was also fantastic and diagnosed our daughter quickly. There was constant support in aftercare throughout. My husband and I are so grateful to the entire team and to Emma - they helped us navigate the whole process from antenatal, birth and beyond. We are now a happy family of four!

Julia M was our amazing midwife who supported me before birth and postnatally. Prior to signing up with private midwives (who were great & super efficient) and meeting Julia, I was nervous about giving birth and the early stages motherhood. Having Julia's support completely changed this for me.
During my antenatal appointments we prepared in advance as much as we could and worked on techniques to help me with my worries. This was a massive help and comfort to me when the day of my c section arrived. Julia was always on hand to answer any questions and I felt so well supported and prepared throughout which gave me real confidence going into the birth.
Julia then supported us for 4 weeks postnatally which made a huge difference to the start of our parenting journey. My baby was unable to latch before we came home and as soon as Julia came round she supported us in making this happen and getting us support for her tongue tie, which transformed our breastfeeding journey. Having continuity of care, knowing that Julia was always there for us and having our regular appointments with her was amazing and we really loved each meeting and how positive we would feel afterwards. As first time parents it was really reassuring to have more regular check ins and it really helped build our confidence and gave us an amazing start in our parenthood journey. Thank you so much Julia & private midwives would highly recommend!

Amie was always on hand for us and is an exemplary Midwife. She went above and beyond in ensuring we got exceptional care from even before we signed up with Private midwife’s! I would highly recommend Amie to anyone contemplating using a PM! She’s such a caring yet funny midwife who always put a smile on our face! Her knowledge and skillset is second to none. Keep up the great work Amie x

I have knew Sally from my previous pregnancy in 2020. Her warmth and general loveliness was there from the 1st contact.
When I was having concerns about my 2nd baby breastfeeding I didn't hesitate to contact Sally to see if she could help. I just had a feeling something wasn't right but she had been checked for tongue tie etc by several professionals.
Sally sat with me and discussed my concerns and quickly asked if I was happy for her to check her again for possible tongue tie. Within seconds she had diagnosed a posterior tongue tie and it became very clear why I had been having issues.
Sally gave me all information I needed to look at my options and I discussed with my husband that evening. Sally returned two days later and the tongue tie was divided. The procedure was quick and Sally was empathetic with both me and my baby (now 10 weeks old) The aftercare has also been fantastic. We are slowly getting there with feeding again and I cannot thank and reccomend Sally enough!
My only regret is that I didn't get her out quicker as would have massively reduced stress and worry initially!

I was supported by the lovely Emma for my second pregnancy from my booking appointment through to postnatal appointments up to 28 days after birth, and I’m gutted it’s come to an end, because Emma feels part of the family! As someone who had a traumatic experience first time around and who has anxiety, care with Private Midwives was everything I hoped and more. The booking process was smooth, efficient and attentive at the start. Having continuity of care with Emma in my home was fantastic for managing my anxiety around hospitals, and Emma always being a phone call or text away has also been such a huge benefit to my mental health as I’ve been able to ask questions about anything anytime, reducing my worries. I have a high BMI and gestational diabetes so was on a high risk pathway for NHS care; Emma helped me every step of the way to find out more info and assess risks to inform my decisions. Emma had an unlucky coincidence of two births on the same day, which meant she had to leave me whilst I was in labour in hospital to attend a home birth, but I think it’s a credit to Private Midwives as an organisation that Remi, who covered for Emma and who I had only met once before, was just as fantastic. Without her and Emma I would not have had the positive and empowering vaginal birth I hoped for, with NHS staff around me all doubting me. Emma’s care for me and my baby postnatally has also been wonderful and I can’t imagine doing the last month without her visits. I would not hesitate to recommend Private Midwives!

The ‘care’ I received from Amie Elliott and Sally Goodwin was so awful in so many ways that I don’t know where to begin. My baby was born by emergency caesarean due to an undiagnosed breech which was not discovered until the 2nd stage of labour.
Amie Elliott failed to suspect the breach during 3 antenatal appointments, where she recorded the baby as head down. I should have been sent for a scan to check the presentation, but I wasn’t. But what is much worse, and what we only learnt later, is that Sally and Amie should have been performing abdominal palpations during my labour to check the position of the baby. They did not do this even once. So not only did these midwives miss that the baby was breech – they were not even looking! Instead, they falsified the readings in the notes. Sally has since lied and said this was because I was not able to lie on my back for a proper examination – just one of the many lies told by Amie and Sally to try and shift blame onto me for their failings. They did not at any point during my labour ask me to lie on my back so they could perform an abdominal palpation. Towards the end of my labour, I was asked to lie on my back for a vaginal examination and did so without any difficulty.
Amie Elliott also disappeared from my homebirth for 3 hours, just 1 hour after she had arrived. Not a word was said by either midwife about where she had gone or why. We later found out that Amie had taken herself upstairs and slept in our bed, without permission.
Amie and Sally also ordered a McDonald’s takeaway to our home during the second stage of labour. They knew I was feeling sick and that this was a major fear I had about birth, and they knew that I am vegan - but they ordered it anyway, at 10:30 in the morning. They have since lied and said we gave them permission to do this.
The McDonald’s takeaway arrived during an obstetric emergency, just moments after the breach had been discovered. Sally recommended we transfer to hospital for an emergency caesarian and told us to go upstairs and decide what we wanted to do. This was despite the fact I had been downstairs for my entire labour. An emergency caesarean was my worst nightmare as I have a severe needle phobia, something which was discussed at length antenatally with both midwives. Despite this, neither midwife offered a single word of reassurance at this point. Neither midwife gave us any information to enable us to make an informed decision. We were then left upstairs scared and alone for 45 minutes whilst Sally and Amie ate McDonald’s downstairs. They have since lied and said they came upstairs but did not want to disturb me as I was very upset. Not true – we left the bathroom door wide open. We did not want to be alone. They could not have come upstairs without our knowing it.
Despite neither midwife caring for me during this time, there was a 17-minute delay in ringing the ambulance. Sally also tried to blame this on us, by saying that we told her not to ring one – another lie.
The baby’s heartrate was also not monitored properly in my labour. During the 2nd stage it should have been listened to at least once every 5 minutes (as per NICE guidelines). Amie and Sally listened on average just once every 29 minutes during my confirmed second stage. So they should have been monitoring the heartrate 6 times as often as they were.
I submitted a 16 page complaint to Private Midwives, backed up with evidence from my notes and extracts from NICE Guidelines for midwifery. Their response was nothing short of a disgrace. It was a pack of lies. It was 22 pages long and did not contain a single apology. It concluded that ‘all clinical care provided was appropriate and in line with best practice’. They have since admitted this was not the case - but now claim that Sally and Amie have ‘shown remorse’. How can they be remorseful when all they’ve done since it happened is lie? We have reported both midwives to the Nursing and Midwifery Council - they are currently under investigation into their fitness to practice as midwives.

I am extremely pleased with my experience using Private Midwives. My midwife was fantastic and the continuity of care offered by her was exactly what I was hoping for. Having appointments in the comfort of my own home where we were not rushed was wonderful when I was not feeling well throughout my pregnancy. The flexibility offered for services offered by Private Midwives was great, especially when I had to change due to requiring a c-section instead of the vaginal birth I had originally planned. Would 100% use again for a future pregnancy

We couldn’t have been happier to be supported by Angie for the second time. It felt like being looked after by an old friend and she was there with us every step of the way and with seemingly all the time in the world for us. Having an independent midwife ensures continuity of care and feels extremely personalised. We would obviously highly recommend (and have done to other friends who have also used Angie). Thank you!

Honestly I can't overstate what a transformatively positive part of our lives Jo has been over our pregnancy.
There were quite a few concerns in our pregnancy - signs that the baby might be premature and later signs that the baby might be very underweight. Jo was incredibly knowledgeable and wise in guiding us through these challenging times while giving amazing emotional support. In the end we were lucky enough to have a beautiful home birth with no complications. There's simply no way we would have managed that without Jo. She has our sincere, heartfelt thanks.

Nash was absolutely fantastic and quickly became part of our family. My birth experience was made so much more positive with Nash by our side. Her advice, support and reassurance made the birth of our daughter such a brilliant experience.
I wouldn’t hesitate in asking for her support again.

I worked with Ruth for lactation consultation and had an amazing experience. I had such a difficult breastfeeding journey with my first born so with my second I wanted support early on. Ruth came to our home and immediately made me feel comfortable. She gave very honest feedback regarding a small tongue tie and our options. With positioning tips and tricks, recommendations for supplements, and care we were able to avoid doing a release. Can happily say I have been successful with my breastfeeding journey and our little girl is thriving. So thankful for Ruth’s help!

Visited private midwives for my son’s tongue tie. It was quickly diagnosed and procedure explained clearly along with risks. We decided to go ahead with it and although not pleasant to watch, my son’s tongue healed quickly with no complications and he is so much better for it.

Private midwives and Remi, specifically, contributed to the most beautiful day of our life. I had a very traumatic birth with my first baby and I was eager to have a v different experience this time around. I read a lot into home birth and my husband and I discussed our plans extensively with Remi. We felt confident with her we had everything we needed to make our dream come true. The birth of my second baby was the most empowering experience of my life and I will be forever grateful to PM and Remi for being part of it, from pregnancy and birth, all the way to breastfeeding and postpartum support. THANK YOU!

I was absolutely blown away by the level of help and support I received from Victoria! I reached out to have my newborn’s tongue tie cut, after having an extremely traumatic breastfeeding journey with my first child, where an undiagnosed tongue tie resulted in a septic breast abscess. Victoria was so understanding and provided me with lots of information via email and on a call, before visiting. Upon her visit, I couldn’t believe the level of care and tips she was giving us. I’m now able to feed without any pain at all, and feel extremely supported and confident. I can’t thank you enough!
