progressive auto insurance
I have progressive auto insurance for the past the past year. On October 01, 2025, my wife was side hit by a large e-bike while making a left turn into the entrance of our apartment complex. The driver of the e-bike was charged for the accident due to not yielding to traffic at an open entrance into a community. The damaged was substantial enough to file a claim for repairs. First issue: Once the claim was filed; Progressive tried to place partial blame on my wife even though the e-bike driver was charged with the accident. Second issue: My wife is a school teacher, we had to wait for a holiday break to put the vehicle in the shop. We waited approximately thirty days before we could leave the vehicle for repairs. When time was available to leave vehicle for repairs, Progressive had cancelled the claim for repairs. Which Progressive had stated we had one year to have the vehicle repaired. That was not the case, it was cancelled before thirty days after the initial claim was processed. It was it was scheduled for repair on November 24, 2025. Third issue: The dashboard of our vehicle was cracked from the accident. Progressive refused to repair stating it could not have been caused by the accident, but it appeared at the time of the accident and not before or later. Progressive’s poor customer service had made filing a claim a nightmare to say the least and not as portrayed in their commercials.
Payment charges more after my wife died didn't explain when pay in full amount..that she suppose to read her email about discount. took advantage senior citizen that doesn't read emails or they call
Calling or send letters about discount not all senior citizens like emails like my wife.. Spanish or English should of call about the discounts..so now paying more that don't believe don't have to..should stayed with my other insurance never done that to us ..
How Insurance Terminology Is Used to…
How Insurance Terminology Is Used to Mislead Customers
I am in my late 60s and have been driving for nearly 50 years. I am in good health, fully capable, and continue to drive responsibly.
I was insured with Progressive for a year period. They were more than happy to collect premiums through automatic payments from my account. However, when I actually needed coverage, the experience was deeply disappointing.
One incident involved my car door opening slightly and making contact with my garage. When I contacted customer service to report the damage, I immediately realized how easily insurance companies twist language to suit their convenience. Despite having comprehensive coverage—clearly explained and offered as protecting against such incidents—they denied the claim entirely, stating that I was “not eligible” under the comprehensive plan.
This experience made it clear that insurance companies often rely on technical wording and selective interpretations to avoid honoring claims, while continuing to collect premiums without issue.
Customers should be aware of these practices. This is how insurance companies siphon hard-earned money from policyholders and enrich themselves at the expense of trust and fairness
Unreasonably raising rates, charged to cancel
Progressive Insurance said they were going to raise my rate after I had been with them for only two months. I got another insurance policy before I had another bill due. Now they want to charge my for another month. It is not paid in arrears, so there is no reason for a bill when I have cancelled the policy. I have filed a complaint with the federal trade commission, which is reportfraud. ftc . gov.
I encourage others to do the same.
Progressive Homeowners Insurance
Progressive Homeowners Insurance
We had been out of town. Our house sitter came in the house July 28th everything was fine. We have a signed statement. She came back in on Aug 5th and found the kitchen was flooded.
I filed a claim immediately. Customer service made the claim on our RV not our home. Another few days passed before discovering that mistake. Our plumber came in and discovered the hot water hose for the dishwasher had ruptured and informed us it should be covered as it was a sudden and unpredictable event. Restoration companies came in all agreed with plumber. The inspector was a third party hired by Progressive to come to the house. He was in agreement with cause and being covered.
Progressives adjuster, who sits in an office in Orlando ( 1300 miles away) denied the claim. He said it was a slow ongoing leak and not covered.
Then we got a letter saying the black mold is their evidence.
Black mold starts 24 to 48 hrs after the beginning of the water invasion. As long as it took Progressive to fix the claim mistake, get an inspector here, get their pictures taken and do their assessment of reports and pictures, the damage just gets worse. Then we get a second letter saying it is denied because they don't cover mold remediation. We never asked for mold remediation. Just water damage.
ALL costs have been out of our pocket. Progressive left two seniors, one of them a retired veteran who served for 25 years, literally homeless. We got an advocate to fight for us. Still denied. We have had to file a complaint with the Indiana Insurance Commisson and are hiring an attorney and will be contacting our ACTION NEWS station.
After being a Progressive customer for so many years and have NEVER had a homeowners claim, this is how we are being treated. Keep in mind, to this date, NOONE from Progressive has set foot in our house, we have never received legal documents we were supposed to receive, they refuse to give a copy if that inspectors report, and they have ghosted us and our advocate.
We have proof to back everything I have outlined.
Please save yourself from going through this.
Instead of $256/mth premuim I was told…

Terrible company
Terrible company. This company will do everything they can to not support you. They are about taking your money.
They invent people and add them to your…
They invent people and add them to your policy in order to charge you more each month.
Ableist and incredibly incompetent
Ableist and incredibly incompetent. I hate how large corporations who are intentionally bad at their jobs take over and treat everyone like children who dont know they are being screwed. We know, Progressive. And we think you are horrible at your job.
I was on the phone with them for five…
I was on the phone with them for five hours just to update my insurance policy. I got transferred more than six times and kept getting put on hold. The first quote was more than what I was currently paying, after they modified all my settings that I had already adjusted for the new quote, which was cheaper to begin with. They removed my loyalty rewards for wanting to update my policy because they said they were now my first and last insurer, and I hadn't been with them long enough to maintain my loyalty status. When you first start off, they ask how long you were with your previous insurer. They kept saying I needed to cancel my insurance policy to update it. My policy was cancelled more than once, and they told me every cancelled one counts against me. It was a mess. I spoke to about two pleasant representatives, but none out of six were helpful. One salesman rudely said I could do it all myself online, which I had done before I even spoke to that one. However, it created a whole new policy, and it said online to call the number to cancel my old policy. Then, when I did that, they redid the whole application with even more questions. Soooo now I have 2 charges the first one they said will take about 12 business days to refund
Bad company
The online car insurance quote is not clear
Staff are not unprofessional; they did not solve the problem. Sending payment does not have details .
Progressive is the Worst customer service Ever
Worst customer service Ever! Progressive Adds anyone they want to your service without your knowledge! Lies continuously! Cost way more than State Farm or Farm Bureau! Progress is the Total worst Company Ever!!
I have never been so grateful to pay to cancel a contract!!!
I would give them 1000 NEGATIVE stars.
Unsolved claim for 25 days
They didn’t solve anything about the collision and give any information intentionally.
I was in an accident for which I was…
I was in an accident for which I was not at fault and I was basically ignored from day one. My claims adjuster never answers the phone and has no idea what she is talking about. I took off of work because I was told an inspection would be done at my house and when nobody showed up I called repeatedly all day and emailed only for them to tell me like 10 minutes before they close that no appointment had been set up and that what they actually wanted was for me to take more pictures of my car which I had not only already done but I had been explicitly told I did not need to send anymore in and I had been explicitly told that an inspection would be done at my house at this date. They just do not give a shit
This company is a terrible home…
This company is a terrible home insurance provider. They do not have good customer services. They are not there for your property losses and you have to proof how wind was powerful the destroy the fences. It is a waste of your money. No basis of securing your home with this insurance company. They want your money but when you ask their help to cover your loss, they show their middle finger basically. It is just waste your money and time! It is an eye opening with them when I asked my fences to be replaced although the fences were covered up to 9K.it is up to you to put your property at risk with Progressive! Terrible experience with a terrible company and customer services.
Adjuster and underwriting
I had a car adjuster named Hilary at progressive the most unhelpful with no customer service skills. She is a person with no compassion towards her clients that have been accidents just was rude since the first time working with her. She does not help to get the company reimbursed. I have been fighting for an accidents where a car was stalled on the highway where I was not cited for by the police. She was not helpful just had her own opinions about in how I could have handled the accident. I did the best I could with emergency breaks that I do not have control over in these new vehicles to prevent the accident that caused me to rolled over to prevent hitting a parked car on the highway. She was just stating that it could have been avoided but not fully looking at the situation. We just in a world of lack of compassion from these insurance companies. They only give you 3 days when your car is totaled that is not enough time to look for a car. The underwriter for rental reimbursement that you pay for every month
is just ridiculous. Paying $100 dollars every year to not be set up for success is just unfair.
Reported a minor accident yesterday on…
Reported a minor accident yesterday on the app. Got a text today for another report. Many of the same questions, sometimes asked multiple times. Like who was driving, who was in the car, was there injuries.
Bad experience
If I could give it negative stars
If I could give it negative stars, I’d give it a -10 stars they tell you one price and then tell you have to contact them which I did and due to me being on my mom‘s insurance policy and my mom had to file an insurance claim now they are trying to hold me responsible and charge me an additional hundred dollars when my mom had GEICO insurance when she filed the claim progressive insurance I would stay far away from them they lie, and they’re out to get your money and the lady I spoke to asked me my age, my gender and location where I lived and then gave me my quote on my insurance and then try to say it was for the accidents on file that I have not had any accidents in over 20 years and she tells me that she can’t tell me what it’s for, but I can call a number to talk to them about stay far away from progressive insurance. They are a scam and trying to get money even though social media is shown what these insurance companies are doing.
Title: Arbitrary Charges & Hostile Service – They Lost All My Business (5+ Vehicles)
"I was a loyal Progressive customer with two motorcycles, three cars, and an RV insured with them. Three months ago, I paid my full-year motorcycle premium of $178 in full. Today, they called demanding an additional $406 for coverage I specifically denied at sign-up.
Their excuse? They claim they mailed forms I never received, and since I didn't return them, they felt authorized to backdate and add the unwanted coverage anyway. When I tried to cancel, they had the audacity to say my original $178 was already 'used up' by this unauthorized coverage, refusing any refund.
Because of these shady, predatory billing practices, I have cancelled all my policies—including my auto and RV coverage. They would rather sneak in $400 of unauthorized fees than keep a multi-policy customer. Do not trust them with your money; they will change your contract without your consent and then keep your prepaid premiums."
The agents and customer reps are rude…
The agents and customer reps are rude and apparently lie when confronted with shady business practices. This has been the worst experience with any insurance company that I've ever had. I will not be a returning customer.
