Hi Ande,

Thank you for your recent order and for taking the time to leave ProofreadingPal a 1-star review. We take customer satisfaction seriously at ProofreadingPal. We had been corresponding with you via email prior to you leaving this review.

In your emails you stated that a native English speaker should read your book and "you will be able to tell instantly" why our edits weren't helpful. You did not, however, give specific examples beyond saying that you used normal cliches that "a regular English speaker would know".

We want to assure you that all of our proofreaders are native English speaking. They've all passed a test to work for us, and many of our proofreaders have their masters or PhD in English.

We have asked you now on numerous occasions to provide us with some specific examples of errors or areas where you felt your wording did not sound like a native English speaker. You've still yet to provide us with even one example.

After our own internal investigation and found that many aspects of the original document you sent to us were worded in a way that doesn’t sound like native English, and our proofreader has made it sound more like native English. We made over 1,000 edits to your document, and we fixed hundreds upon hundreds of errors. All of the edits we've reviewed appear to be both correct and necessary.

We will await your response with the specific examples we've asked for so we can then continue our investigation. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns. We appreciate your business!

We reached out to you via email to ensure you understood that we do return a version of the document where customers can accept and reject each proposed change. For Microsoft Word documents, we returned two versions of your completed document to you. The first, marked “showing markup,” is a complete record of every change made to your document using the track changes feature. The second, labeled “all changes accepted,” is a clean version for your convenience with those changes implemented and only comments remaining.

Because we offer a combined proofreading and editing service, we are unable to provide a singular “final” version of any given document. Part of the editing process is the proofreaders leaving helpful comments and suggestions. Comments are often left when the proofreaders want to point out a change they have made, or if they want to suggest a change they feel they do not have the full authority to make and therefore want to leave it up to you, so we always encourage customers to review the edited document and finalize the document themselves. Because we use the track changes feature of Microsoft Word, you can accept or reject individual edits.

Although we do not typically offer direct meetings between proofreaders and customers, our customer service representatives are always happy to act as a liaison between customers and proofreaders and to pass on any questions, concerns, or compliments to the proofreaders. If you have a question, you can email contact@proofreadingpal.com, and we will email you the proofreaders’ answers as soon as possible.
