Would give Negative 1 stars if…

Would give Negative 1 stars if possible. New rule introduced two months ago in Venezia to fine those who sit in public places to consume an ice cream 200 euros!!! Yes, 200 euros.
Beware of this.
The local police watch out for you. Just sat down for 30 seconds and was set upon by two local police. No warning signs, no reasoning with police, no excuses whatsoever. My wife was in tears but they were harassing almost to the level of se.ual harassment. No ifs no buts. I believe they have a quota or don't get paid. Imagine UK doing that to Italian tourists if they sat down on steps of St Paul's. Im not even British but at least UK would give a warning, not an instant fine.
NEED TO WARN EVERYONE TO BE AWARE OF THIS NEW RULE. They know they can get away with it as tourists will always return to Venice, though not me, ever.
We weren't the only ones fined. One lady cried and said it was a birthday trip to Venice, another group were on day 1, poor people. At least we are leaving tomorrow.
Good luck watching your team in the World Cup, ahh, I forgot, Italy didn't make it AGAIN.
BE WARNED and STAY SAFE.
