Booking the appointment

Tried to book an interior detail for $195. Then I had a lady from the Phillipines spam my phone telling me to pay the deposit. It was really annoying. She would call at the most peculiar times as well like 8:45 am and 5 pm, I was driving both times and told her clearly I’ll do it when I get home and that I wanted to pay in cash for the rest. Spoke to her again this morning and I said I’ll pay the deposit shortly. Any who, I go to the email to pay the depot literally 10 minutes after our last phone call and it says cancelled. No absolutely not, way too difficult to make a booking. Do not add my email/phone number to your advertising list either.

Recieved better service from telstra

Recieved better service from telstra on cricket days.
Their operator has no concept of time i think.
Twice Booked a window tint and twice had to cancel because they blew out the estimated arrival time by 4+ hours on two occasions.
Have asked for my money back.
Waste of time, just go somewhere you can take your car in.

I had two experiences with this…

I had two experiences with this company. The first time was taking tint off our car to get a roadworthy certificate which was quick and easy. The reason I’m writing this review though is for the second one. I needed the car tinted again after I got my roadworthy certificate because the car was burning hot inside and we keep the car outside most of the time. I had a long drive from Melbourne to Brisbane coming up in a few days and I called up to see if we could get the car tinted before going. The staff were super helpful and they managed to fit me in before I left even though they were originally booked out for the days I needed it done. The installer came t 7am to do the job the next day (it was the same person) and this time I briefly had a chat with him and he was super lovely. He even tinted the top of my windscreen for free. Very happy with the service and professionalism.

Very nice staff

Recently had my car tinted at the Gold Coast r1 auto shop and the staff were lovely. Two women were in tinting my car, they seemed to know what they were talking about and the job looks flawless. Can’t fault.

Company needs to improve Internal Process and Customer Service

Did not have a good experience.

Knowing about Car detailing myself and the current state of my car, I was concerned about the total time allocated to do the job since I booked it, because I booked the pre-sale ultimate package, which included most of the items that can be done in a car detailing. The time allocated for it was 3-4hours. Most of the other car detailing company needs a full-day to do the job...(but no problems, trusted them within their time)

My Car is a 4x4 Triton, so a big car.
Because I was concerned about the time they allocated for it, I gave then a call before the booking day to explain that my car was very dirty etc, that probably would need all the items included in the list for the product (Pre sale ultimate package). The booked time was 1pm.

They said I would receive a call from the staff before they get there for more details. I never received a call in advance, when it was 1pm (time the staff should be at my home) I have received a text message saying he would be at my house between 2pm and 2:30pm.

About 2:25pm, The detailer want to give me a call to know what were my expectations to be done. Well, I just needed what I contracted them for: Pre Sale Ultimate package. Anyway, I had a very busy day at work and could not get his call. Then he said it was getting late and did not do the job. I was already aware that the car would never look like a brand new car, specially about the faded roof and some bigger scratches as well.

Detailer was very respectful, no problems with that. The way I see it, they just need to improve some internal process.

I did have a bad experience, as I needed the car detailed ASAP. However, manager called me to check what happens, etc. I gave them the feedback/suggestions to possible improvement and they will refund my initial deposit back. Thank you guys, not everyday is a good day, but all good.

UPDATE (13/11/25)
Manager (I won't mention the name), called me yesterday (12th November 2025) 7am! ( before business hours 8am ) complaining about this Google Review I made. In short, he was blackmailing me saying if I don't remove this Google Review he would not execute the Refund deposit.

The initial deposit receipt clearly states that the deposit is to secure the time slot ad it would come off the total booking price. The booking was cancelled by themselves, hence it should be refunded regardless. See photos attached of his call and receipt of deposit.

Had these guys booked to replace the…

Had these guys booked to replace the tint on the driver and front passenger seat windows. They were meant to come on the 03/11/25. They called and cancelled for an "emergency". The following day the were to come at 1:30pm, they came around 12:30, not a problem. The problem starts now. Guy installing the tint set up his table and realised he left his tools in Bullsbrook, 30mins away. He left, without communicating the problem, left the car unlocked, with the key on the driver's seat, with the driver door open and the garage door up, so anyone could have taken the car. The installer then decided to go home. Very professional service 👏

I had my Haval taken for a tint!

I had my Haval at R1 for a darkest legal tint. The service was very quick, very professionally done! I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and I’ll definitely take my wife’s car to them soon for a tint!

R1 Auto- Car window Tinting

I used R1 Auto for car window tinting at my home. While communication was respectful, my concerns ultimately led to a consumer protection complaint and a full refund.

I want to share my experience respectfully so that others can make an informed decision, as there are currently no reviews for this company online.

I booked what I believed to be their Perth technician. According to their records, the job was meant to be completed by him. However, after the tinting was done, I noticed major issues: the rubber window seals were damaged, the tint edges were uneven and poorly cut, there were bubbles, and some sections of glass weren’t tinted at all. In some places, the tint was even torn. On top of this, I had specifically asked for the darkest legal tint, but the tint applied was darker than legally allowed. Overall, the workmanship and service were very poor.

R1 Auto arranged a follow-up appointment. I expected the same technician, but a different person arrived. When I asked about this, he explained that the job had originally been “outsourced” due to personal circumstances. I was never told the work would be subcontracted. I showed him a diagram of my concerns, and he assured me he would fix everything. Unfortunately, after he left, many of the same problems remained: uneven edges, bubbles, torn tint—and the illegal level of tint was never corrected.

During this visit, he also mentioned that the original worker had stolen the hire vehicle and been reported to police. The main office (based interstate) later confirmed they were unaware the job had been subcontracted, which raises concerns about customer safety, proper HR and vetting processes.

My main concerns with this company are:
1. An unvetted, unskilled person was sent to my home without my knowledge, nor the knowledge of management. I had a contract R1 auto and was not informed that the job had been subcontracted.
2. My brand-new car was damaged.
3. Despite raising concerns with both the office and technician, the issues were never properly resolved.
4. The tint applied was darker than the legal limit, even though I requested the darkest legal option, and this was not corrected.
5. Management never acknowledged these concerns and initially only offered a 50% refund for poor workmanship.

My advice: Do better research than I did. Choose a local workshop and have your car tinted there. You’ll likely pay a similar price without the stress and issues I experienced.
