classes were extremely poor quality. I have received much higher quality at a state tech school for much cheaper. do not waste the money. I graduated in 2008, maybe it has improved since then.

Rasmussen is a place to be

Rasmussen is a place to be. I came to Rasmussen very frustrated and not even knowing what to do. At a point in time, I thought to quit my studies, but their motivation and words of encouragement kept going today. The Rasmussen family are great people full of love and kindness. I recommend this college to everyone.

I went to Rasmussen for my Medical Assisting Diploma and I loved my experience as a student there. From the beginning of classes and the teachers were so helpful and encouraging. From lab classes, externship; it was all a great experience. I would recommend Rasmussen Bloomington campus to anyone.

Over paid for tuition for the amount of…

Over paid for tuition for the amount of energy the college invest into the students. The college needs to invest more money into their staff (advisors, assistants, ect). Every time you try and get in contact with the committee they are busy and you have to wait days for an appointment. Classes are scheduled last minute and are changed last minute. Professors have a huge turn over rate. Very much self taught information. Take your money elsewhere.

Teachers for most classes seemed…

Teachers for most classes seemed disconnected. Many times information and tasks were outdated with missing instructions on how to complete projects. Sometimes teachers seem as if they don’t understand the material they are presenting. This school takes a sink or swim approach. You will have to find a lot of information on your own to complete projects

CMA and RN program

I have been a student at Rasmussen for 3 years. I completed the medical assisting program and continued on to the RN program.
Overall I had a great experience in the MA program and would recommend it. When it comes to the RN program there are a lot of pros and cons that need to be considered.
Pros: When I started the program you were only required to get a 65% on your TEAS test which is relatively low compared to other nursing programs. This is your ticket into the program and you can start almost immediately where as other RN programs can have long wait times. The program is accelerated so depending on what generals you have done it is around 2 years or less to get your associates. They provide you with a lot of helpful resources such as an online library, APA guides, free tutoring, resume building websites, microsoft, and career services.

Cons: The program is very disorganized, they provide you with very little study material or guidance on how to study for the exams. You usually get a powerpoint for each week and will get a study guide you can go through on your own less than a week before the exam. The exams are very challenging, if you aren't a self starter this program is not for you. They will not work with your schedule at all, in the beginning of the program I was in class one day a week, towards the end I am here 3-4 days a week. Make sure the program is accredited!! Not all campuses are accredited! When I fist started the location I was at was not and they didn't inform me of that or what that meant until my orientation day. This can greatly impact your future employment so read the fine print an ask questions!

If You Ever Doubted...

I never write reviews but I thought I can share with people who are out there still figure out life. I was 30 years old when I decided on a career and Rasmussen had a lot to with it. Like most people, I was just tired of being sick and tired. I loved the company I work for (Humana Inc.) but my position as a claims processor was getting redundant and I was burned out. I wanted more so I initially went for a Medical Coding to get the credentials to become a Claims Analyst in the midst of my program I was promoted and relocated. I still finished the Medical Coding program and even passed the board exam and got certified. I am happy with my promotion but I still felt I need the education to be financially secure so I continued to the HIM Associates program. I have 5 more weeks and will sit for the RHIT Exam and I plan to continue to the HIM bachelors program and become RHIA certified. My advisor Courtney has been there every step of they way. Even when lagged behind. The professors are great. They cover the basics and all I did was go back and study. the preparation for the exam is everything because the weeks are broken up by the domain so you have that time to study with an instructor and ask questions. I have 3 kids, I work full time and have a loaded schedule. There were nights my boyfriend and kids pulled my head out the books and laptop. There were times the sun had come up as I finished my homework. You are your only excuse. No reason as to why to can’t do it. Don’t think about it, just do it. I had actually been to two community colleges prior to Rasmussen on and off since high school 2005. By the time I am finished, I would have completed 3 programs, received 3 certifications in 4 years.

I loved it!!!

I honestly loved my experience with Rasmussen college. The courses were fast paced but it gives you the opportunity to finish faster without losing out on the main objective or subject area you are studying. I like that I can log in at any time to check my grades, read material and stay up to date with what was happening in the classes I was taking. The only issue I had was switching back and forth between two different online blackboards, but once they switched it back to the original one it was smooth sailing. I completed my bachelors degree in Early childhood education and I have learned so much from my professors here. My student advisor was also very helpful in making sure my classes were not too overwhelming for me and made sure I finished on time and stayed on track with my grades.
