Our rats love this food - keeps them super healthy, with sleek fur and a good weight.
We have also just had a fantastic experience with customer service - we had a delivery sent to a dpd box which was then faulty and dpd refused to help. not only did rat rations send more food but they even said that if we had further problems they would hand deliver the food. this company really cares.

I get all my mixes for my 6 boys from Rat rations. I rescue/adopt male rats and they absolutely adore their Isamix 11.

Delivery is super quick, it’s amazing how quick they are at sending things out despite not being a huge business.

I also adore that they recycle other packaging to send your order (the food is still in its own new packaging. Just the box it’s sent it will be a used box). I did have a very embarrassing moment of thinking they sent me chicken feed 😅 when it was just the packaging they used

Their customer support is always quick to respond as well.

I placed my first order after deciding to make my own rat food mix, and found rat rations it’s extremely great value for money and has a wide range of items, it was posted and delivered very quickly I will definitely be ordering from here again.

I've ordered food, supplements, hammocks and a variety of other items from ratrations.co.uk. The quality is always extremely high, orders are packaged well and delivery is reliable and fast. I recommend this company to all my rat owning friends. This is a small business but has 1st class service & quality

Wonderful family run company, who really do care about providing the best of small pets (but predominantly rats). I've used them consistently since 2012 to now (2024).

They are known to work alongside well respected rat veterans to stock well-researched nutrient-balanced food, appropriate substrates and enrichment (toys).

Due to their small business size and huge numbers of orders, the occasional error during order picking can happen, but are often corrected quickly and without fuss. Moreover, these types of issues will always receive more vocal outcry than the hundreds (or more like thousands) of orders that have happened without any issues over the past 15+ years.

People often complain about the delivery costs, due people becoming so used to large businesses offering free delivery. However they have always been transparent many times over the years, explaining that the delivery costs are explicitly charged so that everyone pays their own delivery costs as opposed to all products increasing in price to cover the costs of all deliveries.

I really cannot recommend RatRations enough, as a dependable, honest seller for pet rat related goods.

Used to think this company was great… until…

I ordered two bags of hamster food, and a box of vegetable biscuits, and the biscuits arrived half crushed and the box also crushed at the end.
When emailing them, I was fobbed off by ‘Cathy’ saying it is normal for the biscuits to suffer some damage in transit!
I said they were packed at ‘the end’ of the two bags of the food, but she clearly didn’t read my email properly when she said they were packaged properly in between the two bags of food!
I’ve had these biscuits delivered several times now, and they have never arrived like this!

Also, the prices they charge for delivery are ridiculous, you can order much more from elsewhere and be charged a lot less!

Disgusting response and couldn’t care less about their regular customers! , so I will be shopping elsewhere from now on

Not only did Rat Rations have a couple of items in stock that I've been wanting for a while (including being able to buy base mix and straights in sensible quantities), but they were also incredibly friendly to deal with AND I have rarely encountered such a fast turnaround delivery wise (24 hours from order to receipt). Great communication too. Highly recommend!

Super quick service right from placing the order to dispatch and delivery. They give you the option of who you can choose to deliver your package too. Will always use these guys!

Great little business, who have a huge range of varied stock for rats and lots of other species! Their dry food mixes are top notch, customer service is excellent and dispatch is fast.

We tend to buy large bulk food/treats orders to get the best value on the courier delivery charges. We try to support small businesses, and this is one well worth supporting!

I order religiously from ratrations! Every one of my orders has arrived so quickly, some even dispatched same day. Postage costs are slightly on the higher side but it’s worth it for the service and for supporting such a great small business. They have everything you could think of, really reasonable prices, and are super reliable :)

I won't go anywhere else for my rat food or substrate. The team at Rat Rations work tirelessly 7 days a week to fulfill orders for delivery or collection. It has never taken more than 4 days to deliver from whence I've placed it.
I will always keep supporting this small business as they really are the best for small animal food or anything else required for your pet.

Really surprised to read some of the negative reviews, whilst I don’t doubt these people’s experience, I have only good things to say about RR. Ordered 8 times now over the last couple years and only had one issue (I bought an exercise wheel that cracked during transit) which was quickly resolved via a full refund for the item. I find the prices are really good and the feed is great quality, I always inspect for weevils and never had any issues so far. Would really recommend for people wishing to make their own mixes.

I wish I'd read the earlier review! I bought some sand from Ratrations for my gerbils in mid October (but didn't start using it until mid November). My 3 month old baby gerbils weren't scratching, so I assumed the itchy rash I had was an allergy to a new fabric conditioner, until I cleaned them out, and found tiny, black bugs crawling on my arm and leg where I'd just spilled some sand. Update: They were carpet beetles! I only got a positive ID when I collected some of the (much larger) larvae from eggs which must have hatched. According to the council's pest control, they can sometimes be introduced into the home through substrates and, though they don't actually bite, the bristles on the larvae can cause allergies (rashes, dermatitis or asthma). As I'd used the sand for two weeks (including sieving it daily, which explains why the rash started on my hands and lower arms....) the problem spread far and wide. I had an infested bed and airing cupboard (as I wasn't washing at 60 degrees). I have ME and other health conditions and live alone, so it has caused me a huge amount of stress. I emailed RatRations who just said they'd checked their sand and it didn't contain any pests (this was six weeks after I bought it so it possibly was a different batch). It has affected my bonding with the young gerbils who became much more skittish. I had to throw everything away that couldn't be thoroughly washed or baked in the oven so they lost all their scent. After two weeks I was still seeing the odd beetle on the top shelf of my wardrobe (despite emptying it, thoroughly cleaning and spraying inside). Overall, a complete nightmare. I've bought food and toys from Ratrations (not bedding) over a couple of years and not had a problem before but won't be buying from them again.
Anyone can make a one off mistake with handling or storage but, what really annoys me, is the earlier reviewer bought the infested Aubiose before me but wasn't taken seriously. The infestation (which must have been in several loose substrates) clearly wasn't dealt with immediately, or even acknowledged. It's a shame as they have a wide variety of really nice and some unusual products and quick delivery. As well as the itchy rash and exhaustion from cleaning and lack of sleep, it has literally cost me hundreds of pounds in vets fees, discarded items, large quantities of essential oils and the extra electricity used constantly washing and drying at high temperatures. I'm lucky I've had a lot of practical help to really attack the problem, spraying and cleaning daily for over a month. Hopefully I've now got rid of the little devils (6 weeks after I realised there was a problem) but, if not, I'll need to resort to paying the council to eradicate them using strong chemicals. I'm also buying a table top freezer and will now double freeze every single item of bedding, food and sand before I use it, to kill any bugs and, hopefully, their eggs (and also bake all sand)!

Good products and very fast delivery. Healthy food for our pets with some interesting mixes for them.

Not at all happy with the service from this company, I bought some of the Aubiose bedding for my rats, it arrived in a large unbranded bag, which wasn’t too much of an issue, but did expect it to come with the branding as per item picture.

The real problems started when we actually used the bedding. It seemed more dusty than our usual hemp bedding and when I put it in the cage I got what looked like a mite/ insect bite on my finger. I thought maybe it was a bit of sharper hemp, so decided to take it out & add some more from the bag. After 24 hours on the bedding all 3 of my rats were sneezing, my asthmatic husband and son were wheezy too - I was very worried and so removed the bedding immediately and now they’ve all gone so downhill that I’ve had to take them all to the vets today and all have to go onto antibiotics for 2 weeks! One has to be on anti-inflammatories too and I have to now keep on a steam inhaler with F10 antiseptic running, they’re THAT poorly and were not before using this bedding! My husband and son’s chests have been better since removing this bedding. It’s caused much distress, not only to my poor rats, but also my three young children who have been very worried and upset about their beloved pets who are clearly finding it very hard to breathe. The vet said she thinks that it could be due to mites from the bedding!

I emailed the company about this issue and also to notify them as it could be dangerous to other rodents too. All I got in response was “it’s not suitable for all rats” (never had a problem with hemp bedding before with my rats) and that they hope the rats recover quickly. They wouldn’t be ill and needing expensive veterinary treatment in the first place if it wasn’t for this bedding.

Be warned, the bedding can be dangerous - clearly! And you won’t get any courteous, after sales support from this company.

Everything I need for my 2 pet rats and the service is A+ Wonderful customer service and fast delivery.
Can't recommend enough.
