Reading Rugby Football Club is a thriving community club based at Holme Park in Sonning, welcoming players and members of all ages, abilities and levels of experience. With more than 1,000 active members, 25 teams, 44 coaches and over 100 volunteers, the club provides rugby across men’s, women’s, veterans’, boys’, girls’ and minis sections. Its inclusive offering also includes the Berkshire Brigands, Berkshire’s first mixed ability rugby team, and Walking Rugby, which was created at Reading RFC in 2015 and is now played at more than 200 clubs across the UK. The club fields three senior men’s league teams, with the 1st XV competing at Level 7, while its Regional Rugby Partnership with Rams Rugby provides enhanced coaching and a pathway between the two clubs. Reading RFC introduced women’s rugby to Berkshire 35 years ago. Former Reading players Abby Dow, Alex Matthews and Millie David have gone on to represent England. Beyond rugby, the club offers a welcoming, family-friendly social environment and a range of recently renovated facilities available for community, business and private hire.
