The BEST tour of my trip!
Tim Barber was the perfect host and guide and provided me with a truly faultless tour of the Yorkshire Dales and "James Herriott" Country. I am disabled and use a mobility scooter and Tim made me completely comfortable. He managed my scooter in a safe and efficient manner throughout the tour. Tim was kindness and patience incarnate when I needed assistance.
Tim knew all the most beautiful and interesting places to view and is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Yorkshire and the Dales. He showed me standing stones that are older than Stonehenge! We had a delicious lunch in a delightful pub, The Wheatsheaf, which is where the real James Herriot spent his honeymoon. After picking up some authentic Wensleydale cheese at the factory, we stopped to snack while viewing Yockenthwate, used as Helen's farm on the show.
Tim is also a great conversationalist. I wondered what it would be like to spend the whole day with someone I'd never met, but Tim kept me entertained and interested all day. He had some great stories about Alf Wight, the real "James Herriott."
Thanks to Tim, we also got to participate in the filming of a special episode of "The Yorkshire Vet" for Channel 5. An unforgettable experience!
