Impossible to upload day 2 lateral flow…

Impossible to upload day 2 lateral flow test. Tried calling and got cut off so many times. Useful reviews further down. I downloaded a QR code reader as suggested in other reviews, scanned the QR code on the test kit and typed the number in. Don’t copy and paste, it does not work. You have to manually type the string into both boxes. I hade to retype the whole thing twice in both boxes before it accepted it, then it all works

USELESS instructions Day 2 test

Unclear instructions (obviously not updated from previous different versions of covid tests). Hours on hold and no answer. Only resolved by reading comments on here. Really bad customer interface! Here’s what to do:

1) Use the camera on your phone to read the QR code that says ‘ReCoVa-19 Portal’
2) When you get into the portal, click the link to register.
3) 2 boxes will appear asking for a barcode. Click the camera picture next to the first box and use your camera to read the QR code on your lateral flow test strip. Do exactly the same for the second box. Each box will magically be filled with letters/digits.
4) Press activate and follow instructions to upload the photo of your test results.

Absolutely awful

Absolutely awful, day 2 test arrived late. Impossible to activate, completely misleading instructions. To Boots management - you should not be in this game if you are unable to execute, fix the problem or withdraw the service. Utterly ridiculous. Impossible to speak to a customer advisor.

Very bad service

Very bad service. Digital passenger locator form didn’t accept the reservation reference. Tests arrived a day late, and then instructions for activating asked us to scan the barcode on the box (which didn’t work). We finally found out you had to scan the QR code on the test cassette, but only after a huge amount of frustration! Very much not recommended and disappointing as Boots should be a reputable provider!

I agree with previous reviews

I agree with previous reviews. Instructions on activation page are appalling. Would only require a small change to make clear. For Bar code read QR code! For sample tube read test cassette!

Useless: a complete waste of money

We returned from Paris on 26th. My 2 day test arrived on 29th. My wife's has still not arrived. The test itself was straightforward and effective, showing a negative result within the 15 minutes. But it proved impossible to register my test and upload the results. The first problem was that software would not operate my iphone 13's camera. The only barcode i could find was on the pack - so I put in the number manually. That was not accepted. I then tried scanning the QR code on the test kit. That was not accepted either. Eventually I founs a number to contact Boots customer care. No reply after 15 minutes. So I have given up. Whoever designed their process software should be fired. Useless and a complete waste of money.

A scam

Try using your phone to activate your test. Does not work on a laptop. Terrible instructions. Couldn't get any of the bar codes QR codes to work.
Eventually tried on my phone instead of laptop and it was fairly straight forward.
Tests are no different to the piles of tests we have at home but had to pay the £21 because someone has to be making money out of the pandemic.

Review of Day 2 LFT test ordered via…

Review of Day 2 LFT test ordered via Boots

As others have said: There is no barcode to scan & I could not activate my camera to scan it via their website. I had to download a QR code reader, read the QR code on the LFT cassette and then type in the long code - NOTE copy & paste does not work !!!! Results were then confirmed less than 24 hours later.
I ordered these kits while abroad and all were delivered on time, for when I arrived back in the UK.
Just a pity they can't sort out the simple task of activating a test kit or updating their instructions.

Avoid Boots - Inconclusive result ridiculous

Uploaded the clear picture showing 1 red bar adjacent to "C" (Clear) and no other indication, the result came back inconclusive, is this a money making racket or a con to give you fast test result to achieve their targets?
The cova-19 web page says if you select "buy New" for a retest I will get a voucher code for a free re-test, this is false!
Test kit came 2nd class, what a joke.
Called the helpline and 4 pharmacies where to have the "supervised" test, none new, were ignorant of the process and referred me to another store or left me hanging on the phone

Results Nightmare

We are also unable to upload our results. We tried every QR and Barcode. NON have worked. We even went into our local city centre Boots Store, where they have a covid testing facility, but they could not work out what to do. In the end they gave us a helpline number. 0345 1212837, but do NOT use this as it gives 2 options both of which give a recorded message and then disconnects. Like everyone else we thought Boots, as a well known high street store, would be better than this. We were wrong.

Disappointing

It is only by using this site that I discovered how to 'activate' the test. Why cannot they write some easy to follow and correct instructions?

Like everyone else has said

Like everyone else has said - the instructions are dreadful for activating and uploading the tests. I’m not sure if that’s the fault of boots or recova but either way it’s rubbish. FYI - it’s the QR code you need to scan, not the barcode. Also when you do finally get it to scan the QR code, which isn’t easy at all because it rarely recognises it, you then have to manually delete the last digit and re-type it, otherwise it keeps saying the code isn’t recognised or something like that. All in all a very poor system for something that seems vastly expensive for what it is. Really disappointed in Boots - I chose them because I thought they would be reliable and value for money. They’ve definitely gone down in my estimation as I can’t see that they’ve added any value at all here: the portal seems run by recova and the test is manufactured by a company called Hughes. So it seems all they’ve done is sell it to me at a markup.

unable to upload result due to incorrect instructions, QR Scan doesn't help as number is too long for 'barcode' entry. Customer service non existant, on hold for 30 mins now, unsatisfactory

Scan the QR code on the test cartridge

Scan the QR code on the test cartridge, not the barcode.

The reason why the barcode won't scan or be accepted when you enter it manually is because the instructions provided are incorrect. A schoolboy error and utterly disgraceful that it hasn't been corrected by now.

How a company as big as Boots could make such a ridiculous error and not have any communication anywhere on their website (and good luck with getting in contact with customer services), is beyond me.

Embarrassing and hugely disappointing from what should be a trustworthy company. There must be a massive gap in their QA processes that would cause any right-minded person to lose faith in the ability of Boots to act professionally and competently.
