Refusing to pay back my deposit
I moved out a property managed by the Catford branch 5 months ago and they are refusing to pay back my deposit. The amount is not disputed by either party. My tenancy ended in January and I gave them the required 1 month notice that I would not be renewing the contract and gave them the new tenants details. They say they cannot release my deposit until the new contract is signed. However, they have taken half a year(!) to do the required checks (PAT, fire etc) before they will release a contract. Communication has been awful, bounced around people and branches with no taking responsibility to resolve this. Often I was gave the wrong information or told I would be called back and never was, multiple emails ignored. I have now been through three stages of the complaint procedure with still no resolution so I've raised it with the Property Ombudsman. DO NOT USE THESE LETTING AGENTS IF YOU ARE A TENANT. No one at the company cares about your rights.
