I wrote a review back in September 23 and my opinion of Reef Bikes has reduced further. I managed to get a refund of money paid for what became a very poor Chinese copy of a rack however the Office of Fair Trading seems powerless to force them to do anything.
I would like to know if there is a repairer in Brisbane who can service and maintain a Reef Blue Fin scooter

DO NOT BUY FROM REEF BIKES

Another unhappy Customer . I have spent 1 year trying to have my e bike repaired with reef bikes. They are very unprofessional and have total lack of customer support.
Their accounts dept is very questionable ,when you can't get your deposit returned, must have a very poor cash flow. 1 year ago I had an accident with my e bike. The motor had disintegrated internally. I rang Reef Bikes and asked if I could replace the motor which they said Yes. I ordered the motor and paid $500. They told me it would be 2-3 weeks. I did not realize that in stock meant in stock in China. I expected them to have all spares on the shelf in Sydney.
After many phone calls and waiting 3 months I cancelled my order. It is now March, still no refund after lots of emails and phone calls.
I find out that I can order the motor directly from China myself which I did ,and it arrived 9 days later.
In the meantime I have been told about a guy who does work for Reef Bikes in Melbourne.
I contact him tell him my story . I make a time to meet him and he says he can help me, now I am feeling optimistic. It is now July.
In the meantime still no refund. I decide to go to NSW Fair Trading and explain my situation. They agree it should be paid. They contact Reef Bikes and are told the refund will be paid. I wait 3 weeks no refund . I talk to NSW Fair Trading and are told I would now need to go to a Tribunal. I decide I will not spend more money.
Reef Bikes is a very distrustful company .
It has been a very stressful 12 months for me, 12 months without riding which is something I enjoy. I am in my 70's and a pensioner. I am now back on my bike thanks to the guy in Melbourne who needed to spend a lot of time correcting many things.
Thanks Reef Bikes for Nothing. STILL NO REFUND.

Don't Buy from Reef Bikes

This company is happy to have you buy their product, but have zero after sales service. They will avoid you at all costs. Speaking of costs, I took my case to NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and won (after two hearings where no one from Reef Bikes showed). NCAT ruled in my favour and Ordered Reef Bikes to pay me all that I had spent - and they had 14 days to pick up the boat anchor (Bullshark Bike) which they also failed to do. They have paid me the money and now the bike goes to the the dump!

Reef Bikes are OK, just don't expect any after-sales service

Looking at the Reef Bikes website, I can't see where it is possible to leave a review. The reviews they do use are all positive and seem to come from commercial reviewers like Canstar. I can't see where the Canstar article allows consumer review feedback either. So, why does the positive official online hype not match the reviews from independent sources?

As for my own experience...
I ordered 2 Reef offerings on 30th November 2022. At the same time, I also ordered some additional options from them. More about that later... much later.

The Bullshark Mountain Ebike and the Escape Etrike arrived within a week of putting in the order. Awesome! I had read that these were complicated to assemble, so I asked my local bike shop if they would put them together for me. Another awesome outcome!

These Reef units are great fun to ride. The PAS and throttle drive choices are intuitive and engaging. The gearing range is diverse and easy to manage.

My local bike shop did warn me about managing theft risk. And punctures. And mud from the mountain bike tyres.

But I had ordered those optional extras on 30th November 2023. Days then passed. Weeks passed. Months passed. The Reef Bikes website continued to tell me that my extras order had not been activated. That's when I discovered forum feedback complaining about Reef's poor after-sales service support. An email was sent... nothing. A phone call with promises that someone would call me back... nothing. More emails and phone calls.

I discovered Reef has a system that forces consumers to lodge a form requesting action, because their service staff simply will not personally respond to a phone call. So I filled out the form and clicked send... and then another form... and another. Each of my comments section entries became shorter and more blunt. Finally i was writing "I could get this stuff from my local bike shop in 10 minutes, but you’ve taken more than 3 months to do nothing. I want a refund!"

3 days later a nameless email arrived assuring me someone was "on it". Then i noticed the Reef website claiming my extra options had shipped. But nothing arrived. I wrote another email form saying "shipped" but no delivery was an unsatisfactory outcome.
Another nameless email offered assurances. So I wrote back, addressing my reply to "Ann Onymous".

And then a toolkit arrived with a small pump included. I sent another email form asking about the cable locks and the mudguards. Another Ann Onymous message arrived telling me they had been shipped.

Another week passed. A box with 2 cable locks arrived. You get what you pay for (although the same product is much cheaper on Amazon). Let's just say that these cable locks from Reef Bikes do not appear anywhere in any YouTube comparative review of useful bike locks.

However, during those 3 plus months (it is now mid-March 2023) i had ordered and received 2 top quality D Locks from Germany, with 2 top quality bike and trike covers, 2 top quality bike water bottles, a bike alarm system, a high-vis back pack... etc, etc.

My advice is to avoid the Reef cable locks currently on offer.
So now I'm just waiting on the set of mud guards for my bike.

This is what I have learned:
1. Reef Bikes do provide good quality bikes but don't expect any after-sales service support.
2. Get them assembled and eventually serviced by your local bike shop, because Ann Onymous doesn't work there.
3. Get top-rated security systems and other extras from recognised manufacturers/suppliers.
4. It's unlikely this review will ever appear on the Reef Bikes website.

we brought 3 bullshark electric bikes…

we brought 3 bullshark electric bikes and reef bikes wont honor their warranty and George lied to us about getting warranty work done he said take it to any bike shop to get fixed so we took the first one to a bike shop and we had to pay the shop for the repairs before we could take the bike and we sent the receipt to reef and they have refused to refund us the money and now have problems with the other two electric bullshark bikes.we very strongly recommend to not buy reef bikes and buy another brand

DON'T BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS
Purchased 2x Bullshark in Nov 21. Both batteries /bikes have failed within 14 moths. Bike build is shocking. Customer service non existent.
Won't return calls.. New battery $650 to buy. Half the price of a new bike. Spent over $4000 with this appalling joke of a business. DO NOT BUY.

Reef Bikes have zero customer service…

Reef Bikes have zero customer service and you cannot trust what they tell you!
I ordered a Getaway Portable Mobility Scooter from Reef Bikes on 05/06/22. On the website it said that delivery would be 31/07/22.
As it did not arrive around that date or in the weeks after, I posted numerous messages on their website (they won't answer calls), I eventually said that I want a refund as they obviously cannot supply this item and even threatened to get my credit card company to reverse the charge. After my last message they replied (on 20/09/22) saying that it had been despatched (gave a tracking number for Northline) but even a week later, Northline had no record of this number. On 27/09/22 I reiterated that I wanted a refund etc, unless they can give me proof of despatch. They then sent me a copy of the Con Note (dated 27/09/22). They had obviously previously given me the Con Note tracking number, but had not actually sent the item (which I might add, came from China, which is no doubt the delay, but they would not admit to this). I eventually received the mobility scooter on 14/10/22 in a box that said 'Made in China' and with a Reef Bikes sticker on it.
I unpacked and assembled it and charged it overnight. Next day I inserted the key and it started beeping and would not go, and I had no idea why as the very basic manual did not have a troubleshooting section. Sent a message to their maintenance dept and did not get a reply (but it was the weekend). As I had not heard anything by Tuesday I rang them (Maint Dept appears to be the only one that answers the phone) and a lady abruptly told me to send a video and fill out a new maintenance request. So I did. 2 days later I received a very short email telling me to remove the key, put the rear gear lever into the drive position first and then put the key in. This worked, but there was no such instruction in the manual, a a week or two later they charged my credit card $120.00 for this 'service'.
There is mention of the ‘drive’ lever but only under a section called ‘Manual Free Wheel Lever’ saying that you push the lever forward and can then manually push the scooter as it disengages the brakes, but nothing about needing to put it into the drive position prior to inserting the key.
I have now also realised that the information on their website about this scooter is incorrect. Website says it goes up to 10kph, but the manual clearly says up to 6kpm, and I find that the maximum speed I get (going down a slope of the footpath) is 5kph (less when going up a slight slope). That is VERY slow and very disappointing! Have also noticed that if I go over a rough part of the footpath or crossover that the rear gear lever can pop out of place making the scooter abruptly stop. Same with the battery pack after going down a rough paved road. I thoroughly charge the battery before taking the mobility scooter out on the road. The green lights on the control panel that indicate battery power go up and down as I go along and I sometimes I think the battery might also be faulty, but not sure.
Not a very good product and definitely the worst customer service I have ever encountered.
