Customer service is terrible

Customer service is terrible. You get passed around between robotic agents. Nobody ever takes responsibility for resolving issues, either before during or after a rental. They are basically just waiting for you to get so frustrated that you give up, and too bad if they owe you a lot money.

I paid for a hire car on a car hire web…

I paid for a hire car on a car hire web site rentalcars.com. The holding fee, paid in advance, was 2,955.13 GBR. I paid for this on my credit card. The total final invoice for the whole rental period was 1,740.80 GBR. I was charged twice! When I asked for my holding fee back Europcar denied having any record of any holding fee paid in advance and told me I should refer the matter to rentalcars.com. rentalcars.com said they have no record any transaction and refused to refund the holding fee.
This is a scam. DO NOT USE EUROPCAR or RENTALCARS. COM.

Do not use this company for anything!

Do not use this company for anything!

You will never get your money back and the quality of service is zero.
As a customer, you are not protected.

I booked a car, did not violate any rules, they canceled my booking themselves and do not want to return the money referring to their terms of use.

Terrible!!

I have nothing good to say about this company. Customer service is awful- Carla in particular. Was no help at all and did not offer any help in time of distress while trying to get our rental car whilst in a new country. I will NEVER recommend this company!

All fine

Was really afraid of our rental after reading tons of negative reviews on trustpilot. But now I believe that most of the bad reviews flow back to the actual renter of the car and not rentalcars.com (except maybe their customer service - i cannot tell!).
We had a smooth rental with rentalcars.com (through Booking.com) even with a fully prepaid rate. Still for a next time I will prefer to directly book with a larger rental car company (Hertz, Avis, etc.) in order to avoid any contact points with brokers.

A total mess.

A total mess.
Booked a car and pre-paid full rental with them .
Car providing partner was Europcar.
Car provider said didn't receive the payment from Rentalcars.com and they had to charge me once again.
Now I am struggling in between two companies with slow customer service trying to solve the issue and get back my money.

DON'T USE RENTALCARS.COM!!

I hired an SUV from LAX, but the pickup location was at the Marriott Hotel on Century Blvd near the airport which I thought was strange as it wasn't at the normal car hire location. When I arrive at 6 pm at the hotel, it wasn't clear where the office was so I asked. It was in the back beyond the bar area but was closed at 5 pm. What car hire company closes at 5 pm when flights arrive throughout the night?!!! I tried calling Hertz and was told they didn't even have an SUV for me even if they were open. I had to take an Uber to my daughter's house at a cost of $45, then spent the morning on the phone with Rentalcars.com getting nowhere. After confirming with the Hertz rental station they had an SUV for me I had to take another Uber back at a cost of $50. I lost a day of my trip and out-of-pocket Uber expenses of $95. I tried following this up to get compensation or at the very least reimbursement for the Ubers and the loss of a day, but after a long trail of emails to Rentalcars.com they say they will look into it but don't. A lot of time and money wasted. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!! DON'T USE THEM!!

THE WORST car hire company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We booked a car and fully comprehensive insurance with Flizer via Rentalcars.com. When we arrived to collect the car we were told by the rental company that we would be responsible to pay for any damage to the vehicle and we would then have to claim the money back via the Rentalcars.com insurance! Rentalcars.com do not advise you of this very important fact at the point of sale meaning that you as the customer are very likely to be out of pocket in the event of an accident. We were advised by the rental agent to take out their insurance which we did after first speaking with
Rentalcars.com that we would recieve our money back for the insurance initialy taken out with them. From that point on dealing with Rentalcars.com has been an absolute nightmare. They have put every possible obsticle in our way to avoid refunding our money. They constantly requested copies of the new insurance documents previously sent to them on three occassions. You never get the same agent you initialy dealt with and they hide behind the data protection act. I have sent over 18 emails to Rentalcars.com and spoken with them on the phone three times. They are THE most unhelpful company I have ever dealt with. The agents have been given no training whatsoever and read from a script, English is obviously not their first langauge either making things even more difficult. 8 days have now passed following our request for our money back and despite being told yesterday on the phone the refund is now processed I recieved another mail two hours later telling me it wasn't so their agents lie to customers to get them off the phone!
In summary, If you want endless hassle and expensive insurance that does NOT actually cover the vehicle you are driving and requires YOU, the customer to pay for any damage in the first instance and to then attempt to claim your money back from their insurance use Rentalcars.com! Never again will I use Rentalcars.com after this episode.

Rental cars. CON not com.

Well it seems I should of read the reviews before I booked with this company??, as they am really are dreadful, I tried to book a hire car via Jet2 web site, so you would think no problem if they front them(jet2), but they really are only a 3rd party, I must say that I had more help from the jet2 rep in our holiday venue, than I did with these morons.
I just wanted 5 days hire paid my money and the extra insurance on top to be carful.
Cost me £148 for car and the £38 for the extra insurance. So any way did what I needed to, got right through the drawn out booking site they use right to the end, it took my payment, then I discovered they didn’t have where the car was being dropped off, so I get in touch via there web site and send them the detail my contact numbers and email address, for them to shortly after come back and say they had my address and they would see me at 10am, on the 12th of June at my venue makronosis village apartments in Ayai Nappa Cyprus, any way I go to collect the car at our reception, for agreed time of 10am I waited and I waited and I waited some more ?? No show?? I know they had my details and even sent a pin location on my Google so we was both clear… so I ask hotel to call them, to find out the the hire company not these jockers where waiting for me to call them… OMG?? Useing firm rental cars.com, and then things just go worse, when the car hire company finally did show at like 11am, on asking the lady who brought the car where have you been, she fed me some rubbish about data protection and rental cars.com don’t send out contact details to the hiring firm?? What a load of cod’s wallop, this simple would never be the case, so we decided to sit down and do the paper work proofs etc, I pull out my passport drivers licence and my Mastercard business card, when the lady went to take the over inflated deposit like €650.00 she then said that my card was a debit card not a credit card… I said it’s a Mastercard it on the card??, she said she couldn’t take it and confirmed this with her office. So I said well if I can’t pay this way I can’t go ahead have to cancel.
She scanned my wallet and said I had a credit card in my wallet?? She could take that??, but I didn’t have enough on that card to cover there debit.
So I told the lady it’s been a nightmare from start to finish this forget it I’ll rent a car local forget it.
She looked angry and muttered some thin under her breath, I said excuse me what did you say, her looking like she had been chewing a bumble bee I told her just refund my money and let’s move on to her saying ok I’ll get office to sort it.
I then decided to get in contact with this rental cars.con?? Com,?? I sent the first message to someone who said it was to late to be refunded as I was in my hire time I sad ?? And explained the issue and then got a reply from someone else completely random not the same person, I had this four or five other times with all different people, clearly they were in a call centre somewhere in Manchester or could be anywhere.
I tried to call there office costing me £15 to not get through, I have since been backwards and forwards trying to get my money back, nothing nobody’s interested ??, take your money and run AVOID THIS COMPANY at all cost, clearly a scam joint, and noticed on the reviews here they haven’t had many reviews over the last year and only 7% bad reviews I doubt that very much. I still without my money and I’m going to take this to a small claims court and charge them interest on top plus costs and out of pocket expenses also.. terrible company can’t be trusted no way… steer well clear. Hopefully I’ll get my money back from my credit card company VIRGIN, fingers crossed anyone else I hope you read this before your ripped off as well. Andy Evereon.

Flexible rentals and free amends.... that is a lie!

Flexible rentals.
Cancel or change most bookings for free up to 48 hours before pick-up.

That is what the company advertised when I did the booking.
However, when I called 1 month in advance to amend my booking (I had to shorten it by 4 days), rather than giving the money back they told me I was gonna have to pay more than what I originally did (to have the car for a shorter period of time). And I would loose the insurance cover I have purchased.
The operator over the phone was nice and wanted to help, but he could do nothing for me. The company apparently meant that there is no admin fees for changing. This is NOT clear and I believe is done on purpose.

This is all highly misleading, and I am very disappointed. The company should not be allowed to lie in such way.

I booked a car using there app

I booked a car using there app . They asked if I wanted to add additional driver which I did. The voucher came under the name of the additional driver. I could not cancel or amend the contract despite multiple attempts using the app and despite calling .I could not pick up the car . I was forced to pay the whole rent 1340 Australian dollars. My advice is to avoid this company at all costs . Rent directly or use booking. Com .

It's a joke! Aswell we decided to cancel booking , it was very hard to do soo...and they will refund us only 1/3 money we paid... be very careful, all small print important info is very well hidden . Avoid at all cost . Never again

Aircar at Rabat through Rentalcars.com…

Aircar at Rabat through Rentalcars.com in London : Disappointing Experience and Alleged Fraudulent Activity

I recently rented a car from Aircar in London, booking reference number 718196456, for the period of May 12th to May 20th, 2023. Initially, my experience seemed promising, but unfortunately, it quickly turned sour due to multiple issues and an alleged case of fraud that has left me deeply dissatisfied.

Upon collecting the vehicle, Mr. Reda at the Aircar counter in Rabat airport suggested that I purchase additional full cover insurance for added peace of mind. Trusting his advice, I proceeded with the extra insurance. However, my faith in their expertise was soon tested when I encountered an issue with the car's brakes skidding under heavy rain on May 18th. I promptly reported the problem to Mr. Reda , who advised me to brake slowly rather than offering a replacement vehicle, citing the unavailability of alternative cars.

On the day of return, May 20th at 14:54 hours, I returned the car as scheduled. However, despite Mr. Reda being available on the phone, I was forced to wait for over 40 minutes for his arrival. This unnecessary delay was highly inconvenient, considering he had asked me to wait and was aware of my presence. Upon inspection, he assured me that my deposit would be refunded within 2-3 days due to the full cover insurance I had purchased. However, as of now, my deposit has not been returned, as it was merely a pre-authorization. This situation appears to be a clear case of fraud, prompting me to report the incident to both the rental car company and my card issuer.

As a frequent visitor to Rabat, I had intended to become a regular customer of Aircar. Unfortunately, this experience has shattered my trust in the company and its practices. I feel deeply disappointed and believe I have been deceived. I hereby request an immediate refund of my money. Moreover, I am determined to pursue this matter legally, seeking assistance from the British High Commission in Rabat, to prevent other travelers from falling victim to such fraudulent activities.

Terrible aftercare service following failed booking.

We were forced to cancel a booked car at Gatwick Airport due to transport strike in Greece on our day of travel.16th March 2023. Telephoned the Easirent office at Gatwick Airport to change the book. All OK. Two days later 18th March when we arrived late at night, as planned, no car. Easirent office shut. Easirent responder explained the parent company is Rentalcars.com. Complaint form completed. Numerous emails from them to me requesting call logs, better quality photo shoots, more information - all communications to me had deadlines set by Rental. I do not recall signing anything to say I needed to be technically competent should I have to make a complaint. To date - 4th June - no reply no compensation. Appalling after care service. DO NOT USE !

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING EXPERIENCE

Very interested to see others experience as we have just returned from a holiday that started off with the most awful experience. I have used RentalCars for 11 years, same collection point etc. I know the drill, booked and paid for months and months in advance, paid for extra insurance. Arrived well in time for pick up with the credit card I have used for the past 11 years, we had booked with OKMOBILITY, hadn't tried them before. Very quickly it became apparent that something was afoot. All the business had be concluded and now we were at the point that they take your credit card to block out the excess amount. It was my credit card, in my name, it had £4000 available funds, it was the one I always use, but suddenly I'm told abruptly that it isn't a credit card ( although it says credit card on it) they basically said they didn't care, their system said it wasn't and therefore I couldn't have the car. I showed them proof it was a credit card (statements) got other rental desks to try it, they said it was a credit card and I relayed that to OKMobility and asked them to explain to me why they were saying it wasn't. Their manner became very curt and unhelpful, they said the only way around it was for me to give them £400 plus insurance money then I could have the car!! At this point, it just stunk of a scam. None of it made sense. Long story short, we were stuck for 5 hours waiting to book the next available car with another rental company (Lacauto) who were very helpful but of course it was twice the amount of money we had already paid. We did speak to Rental Cars and although individual operatives were pleasant, the line was awful, we kept getting cut off, then having to repeat from scratch the issue we were experiencing. Although we got some money back we were still out of pocket to the tune of £1000, we had a dreadful stressful 6 hours and I am very concerned that they have companies like OKMobility on their site, as well as finding out, from other reviews, that they themselves are questionable in their practice.
