Worst rip off company I’ve ever dealt…

Worst rip off company I’ve ever dealt with. Signed in April of 2024 and after a complete do-over as the project manager called it finally had doors in November. To make it worse the house was 25 years old and only replaced doors to get something nicer. First hacks that showed up installed 2 main entry doors and 2 storm doors. Front door wasn’t squared, threshold was bowed and storm door (scratched in 2 places)was binding on it. Trim looked like it was cut with an axe. The other set of doors, storm door frame was damaged but installed anyway, screw missing in hinge on the main door. Then someone came out and said it was horrible and getting a do-over. Then waited a month or 2 for new storm doors. Crew comes back again and installed storm doors, missed with saw on bottom edge and no touch up, can see light from outside at the bottom side corner. Go to open screens and pieces falling out of both storm door slides. Said we wanted to keep old doors and trashed frames taking them out. 17,000 plus for total crap company. They offered a1500 and went to $ 2000 compensation but want you to sign away any legal standing you might have plus have to remove any reviews online or state they made it right. Doors are good quality but absolutely garbage company to get screwed by. I’d rather lose the joke of a $2000 check and save someone from getting robbed. Use a local contractor who will put pride in their work, wish I did. Now we found a piece of rubber from under the main door on the floor and noticed the screen door isn’t even straight top to bottom,What the hell did I pay for ??——UPDATE !! We get to have them come take our side door and storm door off now because of more problems. WTF is wrong with this company? Main door isn’t plumb according to manager and storm door is coming apart at the top left corner AND leaking on main door from the top where it meets the frame. This is insane. 25 year old house

Read before you buy Renewal by Anderson

Read before you buy! One very unhappy customer of Renewal by Anderson, and here are the reasons.
I should start by saying that I have owned homes with Anderson Windows and doors in the past, and they have been very good products. I guess everything does change, some for the good, and some for the bad.
I recently replaced sliding doors (3 sets) using Renewal By Anderson. Even though their quote was nearly double any other company, we decided to use them due to their reputation and marketing message about their company.
Concerning their advertising / marketing message. They want you to believe that they are a fully integrated company, meaning that manufacturing, installation and service are all one company. That is not true. During the installation, a simple question to the installer clarified that he was an independent contractor, tax identification as a 1099. This is not an employee and is exactly what all of the other window and door companies utilize for their work. They will tell you that the contractors are “their guys” but a 1099 is a 1099, and they can work with anyone they want. As far as the product itself, some parts are made by Anderson, and some are not. That is one of reasons for my issues below. The repair technician and the service center both admitted that the glass is subcontracted out to another company, and that Renewal by Anderson simply makes the frame. This is what they want you to believe. And of course, glass is the most important part of the product.
Since that time, I have had problems with all doors, have had numerous services calls to “fix” the problems, and have an open work order out now for almost 8 months.
The sliding doors on the second floor have been “repaired” twice, and the cold air continues to come through the doors. Each time a technician came to my home, some minor adjustments were made, and replacement of a broken seal were completed, but this did not stop the problem. During the last visit, the technician Caulked the outside frame of the door to prevent the cold air from coming into my home. Now….. if this was a “custom measured door” that was installed correctly, you shouldn’t have to caulk the outside of the frame. It simply wasn’t measured correctly or installed correctly, one or the other.
The sliding doors on the lower level have another problem. The grids on the inside of the glass rattle loudly of you touch the door, open and close it. I have sent videos of the problem to the service center. The technician who was here last time said that the rubber bumpers were not installed on the grids. He even took a video himself and said that this was a real problem. The bumpers I am taking about are the little inexpensive rubber stoppers that you have on your kitchen cabinet doors to soften the noise when you close the door. My doors on the second level have them all along the grid inside of the glass, and there is no rattling when you open or close the door. There are zero bumpers on the lower-level doors.
After numerous calls to the service center, I finally found out that Anderson didn’t make the glass! I was told that when they contacted the company that made the glass, they told Anderson that they sometimes put them on, and sometimes they don’t. This is ridiculous. There are no manufacturers that don’t have an SOP (Standard Operation Procedure). It is never left up to the employee whether to put them in place. Once again, no resolution since it is not all one big happy family.
I strongly suggest that you do not use this company and save yourself a lot of money by contracting with another window / door company.

Renewal by Anderson disaster.

We spoke to our salesperson Cory Jones (908-714-6215) here in my kitchen in connecticut. You should give him a call, he'd love to tell you all about this situation & renewal by anderson's policies. He agreed that we could have air back door to replace.Due to lack of security and heat loss. He agreed to do the project for over $5,000 !! We explain to him that we are leaving on vacation for 3 months on january 27 of this year . With that in mind, he scheduled an install for friday the 24th. They then waited till within a week of the 24th and canceled on us because they didn't have the door. Why the hell schedule the appointment if you don't have the door you're supposed to install ?? We were extremely angry.I have an unsecured backdoor that I don't want to leave the way it is for 3 months with my wife and i not home. So I did the only thing I can do. I took yesterday off of work tore down the old door in the old door frame. Reboxed it in put in a new steel door frame and new door. I have called the company repeatedly for over a week, and a manager or supervisor still refuses us to call me. I am extremely angry. For over a week I have been calling all numbers associated with the renewal by anderson and nobody has returned return to my call... does this sound like something you'd like to deal with ? ME EITHER !!!!

Renewal by Andersen of Vermont - beware.

Renewal by Andersen of Vermont is a franchisee of the national corporation and is not responive to questions or problems of Vermont customers. We found that the sliding doors we had purchased were much smaller than intended, obsuring a significant portion of the view that was the primary reason for having sliding glass doors on our deck. After a number of months of waiting for the doors, during which time it was impossible to reach the company by phone or email, when the first one (of two) was installed it was immediately apparent that we had a problem, but for over 2 1/2 months no one at RBA Vermont would speak to us or respond to our phone calls or emails. We finally contacted the Vermont Attorney General's Consumer Assistance Program, which attempted to negotiate a mutually agreeable solution. The solution may have been agreeable to RBA Vermont but we are not happy at all. The doors themselves are fine, but because of their sizes, they are not what we wanted. Buyer beware!

Over priced pressure tactics typical for this company.

I live in Republic, Missouri and I requested a quote for window replacement with Renewal by Andersen. When the representative arrived, it was more of a pressure play to get me to say yes. Even after quoting $40,000 to replace eight (8) standard size double pane windows and two (2) half windows. Just ridiculous! I don't remember the exact date but it was in 2024.

WARNING: WHEN A COMPANY REQUIRES YOU SIT WITH A SALESMAN THATS A WARNING!spite the wonderful TV commercials I…

Despite the wonderful TV commercials I was terribly disappointed by the Fort Myers Renewal by Anderson. I was told the only way they would give you a bid is if you were there to sit with the salesman. Being 3,000 miles away I have always been able to work with contractors on my rentals via phone and facetime. I asked why would I have to be there in person and got no satisfactory answer. I asked for a manager to call me and I AM STILL WAITING :)

Scam!!!!!

My wife was misled by a pushy, underqualified salesman who lacked any real background in home improvements. I’m a retired General Contractor, now managing large-scale projects for a major company. At the time, I was away for work, and my wife was eager to replace the windows in our new home. She insisted on Andersen windows, so I advised her to contact Home Depot for quotes on Andersen A-Series or E-Series windows—two of the best products on the market. I know Home Depot is a primary distributor of authentic Andersen products, both retail and wholesale, and they have a reliable installation program.

Unfortunately, my wife consulted with Renewal by Andersen instead and was pressured by a salesman who clearly lacked basic window carpentry knowledge. This individual, in my opinion, probably couldn’t even hang a picture properly. She ended up signing a contract for a $90,000 project that I could have completed for $20,000. By the time I got involved, it was too late to cancel the contract.

It’s important to note that Renewal by Andersen operates as a local marketing franchise. While their products are technically made by Andersen, they are private-labeled and are nowhere near the quality of authentic Andersen A-Series or E-Series windows. In fact, I’d prefer Andersen 100 Series over Renewal’s offerings because the 100 Series is more contemporary and less bulky.

Renewal by Andersen has faced multiple class-action lawsuits, but they seem to evade accountability due to their structure as small, independent franchises. The salespeople are not Andersen employees and have no direct affiliation with the company. For those seeking the real Andersen product, I strongly recommend avoiding Renewal and going directly through Home Depot or another reputable Andersen distributor.

the rep lies to get a sale

we had a rep come out for new windows. big mistake. the cost is about $5000 per window. rep tells us how bad vinyl windows were and would only last 3-5 years. i pointed out window world windows in the porch (10 years old) and how the still looked and worked like new. she did not like that. while i was out of the room, she tells my wife if you don't buy ours keep the 25 year old windows we got. and thats where we are now. got a $10000 grant from state for upgrading and will let it expire.

The End Results

The salesman said I had 1 year to pay "new promo" no paperwork yet he said when I wanted to see it. It was seven month to pay off without high interest.
The patio door which replaced a 30 year old Anderson leaks cold air this winter. The inside is 3 to 4 degrees colder on a mild 25 degree day. It appears the outside frame is tight after having two call back adjustments made. The only conconcussion is the internal materials are substandard to the original Anderson product.

To me it's surprising anyone hires…

To me it's surprising anyone hires these guys. First of all, they are about 2x more expensive than a local installer. Why not support a small business instead?

Additionally, these guys give you major notice they are deceptive. Their primary advertisement are "fake" handwritten notes that are mass printed. They are deceiving you right in front of your eyes and some can't see it? Or maybe they dont want to believe it. And they still fork over money.

Great crew lousy product.

Install crew was great, but the product isn't. I Had these super expensive double hung windows put in a little over a year ago. They look great but perform lousy. They rattle when its windy outside and they leak air horribly bad. I had a service tec come over to check them and he said, "They are within tolerance". That was the end of it. 14K for 9 windows, and another 2k for a small slider and they all leak cold air in the winter.

Renewal by Andersen--HORRIBLE service

First off, the windows are beautiful and of extremely high quality!

The salesman that came to my house was very knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. Made us feel comfortable and safe paying $174,000 up front for the job of 52 windows. He acknowledged and understood the fact we had Home Owners Association (HOA) rules.

After that point, the service went DOWNHILL fast! Install team reached out to us monthly but would never return emails or voicemail. Had 4 different primary reps assigned during the 7-month span. We made multiple attempts to reach Andersen install team, and NEVER had calls or emails responded.

On 3 Dec (3 days before install), we finally reached our 4th rep, Luis. He had zero knowledge of the project, and Andersen had not secured a building permit. After he researched our project, he elevated it to a supervisor who acknowledged that the permit request had never been submitted—Andersen dropped the ball and used the excuse they were moving offices to Orlando.

The workers doing the install were OUTSTANDING! However, communication with your install team was horrible! Throughout the whole process, we sent/voicemailed over 50 times, and had less than 15 replies. One of the windows arrived shattered off the truck, a crane got stuck in our backyard, and this whole process took 7 months. The installers were GREAT, but the communication and customer service were horrible. For the amount I spent, I will not recommend Andersen to any neighbors or friends.

UPDATE: as of 23 Dec (56 days after providing info), I still do not have an approved building permit. 3 emails, multiple texts regarding the crane lift Andersen left in my cul-de-sac for 5 days—no response (7 calls from neighbors, and 2 HOA violations). They finally picked it up with zero communication. WORST customer service ever!

UPDATE #2: after posting reviews, I now have a #5 (fifth) customer service rep assigned...actually calling me.

So much for their "White Glove" service. I was considering impact windows for my other house as well--IT WON"T BE RENEWAL BY ANDERSEN.

Expensive windows poor service

In early March 2024 we ordered and paid for five very expensive hurricane windows. They arrived much later than promised in June, and one of them arrived with a broken pane on the inside. We were told that six weeks later they would replace the window, they came back much later, after calling several times and canceling visits, in September and brought another broken window! Again we were told six weeks, the window was in, they made an appointment for December 10, we waited, they did not arrive, only to be told again the window had not come in. Meanwhile, we told them that windows will not lock! Numerous calls and no one has called us back.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever…

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a contractor. The sales people definitely sell well. But the products are either bad or the installation is horrible. And when you try to get them serviced, it’s impossible to get something set up. Got our back door replaced. It was never leaking prior to the install. Now it leaks through the back. We complained and they sent out a service guy who said nothing was wrong with it

Salesman was honest and straightforward.
Company kept me informed of their progress.
Chase and Daniel did a great job of installing my three windows. They look like they have always been there.
The guys were polite and cleaned up after themselves.
No qualms in recommending them.
