Two Trips-Two flawless motorcycles

When I planned a motorcycle trip to Vietnam in 2023, I researched several companies. The first thing that attracted me to RentabikeVietnam was the depth and completeness of their website. I liked reading it just for the information about Vietnam. Without overtly stating so, it told me that someone had a deep understanding of the country and liked sharing that knowledge. I decided then to rent from them. I picked a Honda XL 150 to rent. It was more than adequate to carry myself and a small amount of clothing. My riding skills are modest and there was no need for off road evaluations. What was important to me was the reliability of the motorcycle. The anxiety of breaking down in a remote area of Vietnam could cripple a fun trip. As I got used to the country, the traffic, and my skill level, my anxiety dissipated and I began to enjoy the trip. I became confident enough to spontaneously take side roads that led to...wherever. The motorcycle operated flawlessly and continued to do so for the next ten days that I toured up to the Chinese border and back down through several national parks. I enjoyed it so much and the customer service was so thorough, that I wanted to repeat the trip. Now, here I am at the end of March, 2026, I just completed a thirteen day trip with another of RentabikeVietnam's motorcycles. This time, I went with an old friend and experienced rider. He rented the Honda XL 150, and this time I rented the Honda XL 190. Again, the issue of reliability never became a question. I had confidence in the company, and its products, from previous experience and it certainly wasn't misplaced. Check the gas, check google maps (great Internet throughout almost all of Vietnam), load up and go. Oh, and please, oil the chain every other day or so-especially in the wet. Most roadside mechanics will do it for free. This time, we traveled due west from Da Nang and rode the Ho Chi Minh Highway. A wonderful ride with ascents, descents, twists and turns and one tremendous view after another. I'll leave the country descriptions to better writers than myself but suffice to say that it was another motorcycle ride of a lifetime on truly flawless Rentabike products.

Paul,
Thank so much for a super detailed review. Great to see that you got 'mint' bikes from us. I do say that the XR190 is an improvement with the bit of extra power and very little added weight. That and the 150 are pretty much what I would consider the best general bikes for Vietnam.
Let us know when you are coming back for 'Round 3'; we'lll be happy to host you again and have another sweet ride for you. Perhaps Danang to HCMC?

The essential destination

I've done two 14 day trips with RentabikeVietnam, and I can wholeheartedly recommend their services. The trips are well planned, and well run. Danny, the proprietor, is English but has lived in Vietnam for around 25 years, and is fluent in the language and customs, there is consequently no misunderstandings, no confusion, and NOTHING lost in translation. Danny and his local team can provide for all wants and needs, and will customise tours to the whim of the customer. Vietnam is a beautiful country, with lovely people. I have felt safe and looked after at all times, whilst exploring a relatively alien country many miles from familiarity. The trips place motorcyclists well outside of their comfort zone, whilst never slipping into danger. I cannot recommend more highly!

Fantastic Trip 🤩

Danny and his team were absolutely brilliant. If there was a 6 stars option I’d give it. Danny’s team picked us up from Hanoi airport and we stayed in Hanoi the first night familiarising ourselves with our surroundings. The following morning we made our way to his motorbike rental shop, where we met more of the team, was introduced to our Vietnamese tour guide and could leave our suitcases behind. We were also able to get used to our motorbikes before heading north out of Vietnam. Danny provided a suite of 8 excellent Honda XR150s for our tour. All bikes were in great condition. Our trip took us across North Vietnam following tracks, roads, gravel, rivers and mud it was brilliant. Danny provided food and drink during the day and arranged each of our 5 home stays too. This allowed us the opportunity to eat and drink with local Vietnamese folk and traditional food and cooking. There was always plenty to drink, the scenery was breathtaking and honestly we had a superb trip. I cannot recommend Danny and his team enough - book a tour with him quickly, you won’t regret it!

Awesome bike ride in Northern Vietnam

I took a 12 days riding the mountains in North Vietnam with some friends (7 of us in total). We rode all the way up to the China border, and man, it was something else! The folks at Rentabike Hanoi really know their stuff. Everything was set up just right, the bikes didn't give us a lick of trouble. Not that we needed to worry as we had a support vehicle and mechanic on call, just in case and the whole team looked after us start to finish.

The guides were proper solid guys, who knew exactly where they were going. They kept us safe and showed us some out of the way places in Vietnam, taking us to tiny villages and places way off the main road where you don't see any other tourists. It was way better than I ever thought it'd be and that was partly due to the amazing country and partly cos these guys looked after us so well. If you want a proper adventure and want to see the real country, this is a must. I’d go back and do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Hi Tim,

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a fantastic review! A group of seven up into the mountains and all the way to the China border is exactly the kind of proper adventure we love to run.

Superb to hear that the bikes performed flawlessly for you over the 12 days. This is why we use the Honda and service them like babies :)

The support vehicle and mechanic on standby are also a game changer and mean that you can chill and enjoy the ride.

Our guides really pride themselves on knowing those hidden, off-the-beaten-path villages, so it's brilliant to hear they helped show you the real Vietnam away from the usual tourist trails. The way they are flexible and can switch routes depending on needs is pretty cool.

Whenever you and the guys are ready to do it all over again, just give us a shout. You are welcome back!

Cheers,
Danny & Team Rentabike Vietnam

Top notch choice in Vietnam

I’ve been riding for over 30 years and have rented bikes all over world owned several bikes in the US and Asia, so I’ve seen my fair share of 'held-together-by-zip-ties' rentals in Thailand, Bali and Vietnam. Rentabike Vietnam is a different breed entirely.
I took out one of their Honda XR150s for a loop, and the mechanical prep was solid. On a long tour, that matters. This bike felt tight, the tires had plenty of meat left on them, and it handled the twists and turns and the occasional broken pavement with zero drama.
The highlight of the trip wasn't a famous landmark, but a hidden gem that was shown to me; a little trail taking me into Pu Luong with zero traffic and great views.
If you’re an experienced rider who values a top notch machine and 'insider' routing that skips the tourist traps, this is the place to be. This is the real deal, good bikes, solid maintenance and insider knowledge.
