Hired a car from Record Go from Malaga…
Hired a car from Record Go from Malaga airport. Paid for fully comprehensive insurance. When picking up car had to pay additional 309 euro. The scam is they remove spare tyre and instruct you to take out additional insurance to cover being towed because only they can repair spare tyre.
They then provide email to contact whilst you are on holiday to get this money back. I did this but instead of refunding money they cancelled my fully comprehensive insurance and then refused to reinstate it when they admitted they had made a mistake. This whole scam just ruins peoples holidays. After contacting their customer service they just ring off scammers
Never rentalcars.com and record go ever again
This was one of the worst experiences I had in longtime in regards to rental cars. I made the booking via rentalcars.com, booked two cars as we where 10 people with second driver on each car. When we came to checkin I was told that two bookings are not allowed and one person can not pay for both cars, that the credit card holder, booking owner and main driver all need to be the same person. As we arrived late the online bookings could not be adjusted anymore and I had to make a new booking. On top of course all extras had to be paid and insurances where charged at the same price then the actual car rental cost on top if you wanted any coverage. The cars where in mediocre shape, one of the cars had a broken indicator bulb which we only noticed when on the way as it was not used, so we had to change ourselves. Later the engine oil warning lamps came up and we had to buy oil as the car was totally empty. The second car made a lot of noises from the front axis. To make the experience even worse, one of us forgot a small wallet in the front with two credit cards, within hours after dropping the cars early morning, someone alreaady missused and tried to take small amounts via contactless options, the bank noticed fast and blocked the car and we could order new cards, however that means an employee of the rental company must have found this when cleaning the car and instead of returning they started a fraud. Never again, experience cost us 250 Euro between double bookings and cash retrieval. I have now opened a case with rentalcars.com to get one of the bookings refunded as I was never able to start it. The response from the customer service Team was: they can not work on this due to privacy limitations only the main driver can request a claim, which does not make sense….the booking holder should be able to claim the booking, so I now need to ask for approval by driver to work on this.
Overcharged on return and no…
Overcharged on return and no explanation. Despite having paid Rental cars, I was told my contact was with Hertz, ( car booked with Dollar who are in fact are Hertz), paper work I signed on car collection was in German so I was unable to check it. I was charged for ‘van accessories’ when I had a car, not a van and they seem unable to query it with the supplier now the car has been returned even though the payment was taken from my credit card after my return. Don’t touch this company.
Rented a car with green motion
Rented a car with green motion. Payed a high fee and did not get it back after more than 35 days now. Rentalcars does not respond or helped me with my case. So if you wan t a carefree holiday don’t book with rentalcars.com
As all the other reviews : SCAM!
I booked for a car in Pisa, Italy for 386 euros for a week for a Peugeot 2008 automatic (good car).
Réservation : 660088319
When I want to pick it up the company tells me there's 280 to pay extra + 500 deposit. (total 780 extra).
I say I'm not okay.
They ask me to call the reservation call center to find a solution.
What I asked to their call center is simple :
Choice 1 : I want the car I paid for and reserved for the price I already paid.
Or :
Choice 2 : full refund.
(simple)
But they can't get me a full refund. Only half, if I want to cancel.
So they offered me two options :
A Fiat 500 (lol) for... 480 euros!
Or
This partial refund which is just stealing me.
This company is a SCAM, I will need to do a chargeback with my bank to get my money back. So annoying!
Shocking company
Shocking company. Should be called rental cars.con
Paid in full for a booking. Rental company would not provide the car in spite of having an International Driving Permit and full UK Driving Licence. Requested a full refund and was refused. It’s nothing short of theft.
Crooks!!!the worst company !!!
Never book with this agent
Never book with this agent, because insurance own risk is false. Upon arrival af Ibiza at the Avis desk it turned out that there was still 2400 OWN risk and 200 creditcard deposit. when I booked I ticked all the boxes for no OWN risked and no deposit. and paid insurance almost as much as the car rental price. assumed that rentalcover insurance would cover me. The lady from Avis said they have this all the time because this company is giving miss information Advise: book directly with Avis and insurance directly with them.
Rentalcars and Budget: false reviews; not to be trusted
I rented a company via Rentalcars on Budget/Avis, I received a decent car, returned it, it was inspected and passed without issue. Now one day later, I receive an email requesting repair money (few hundred euros) for a damage that was already on the car.
Now it turns out that Budget has the worst reviews you could imagine (it is basically impossible to go lower) and I was not aware until now, because on Rentalcars they have a proper rating of 8/10. This does not match with the 1/5 of Google reviews, or trustpilot reviews. Furthermore there is no way of adding a review myself, so I can only imagine Rentalcars get paid for giving Budget a good review.
They don't keep their word...
It's a very bad company to rent a car through. My case: they promised me a discount for another issue that didn't get well.
When I wanted to use my discount, littery 10 years later, because of the conditions we couldn't have used it earlier, they all of a sudden implemented a new condition.
Sir, you can only redeem the discount on your car rental if you don't add any insurance. I was like...what?! Who rents a car without insurance!!!???
So after days of calls and mails the car went up in price by 60 euro in total. They couldn't give me the discount they promised. I had to book soon because it was getting more and more expensive.
So I decided to book because they gave an automatic discount on the hotel we've booked, so we thought that's better than not having any. So we've decided to book the car without insurance and book that on the spot.
You're not going to believe what happened next! We still couldn't get the discount the promised us because we already received an automatic discount through the Genius loyalty program!
So it was all a big scam to get us booking through them. Eventually there was no discount, although we had it on mail that we have a discount to redeem, and the car went up in price and we had a very bad experience with them.
You can guess this was the last time for us booking at booking.com and rentalcars.com. I'll spread the bad news about them. Despite the fact that they are a huge sponsor of the occupation in Palestine.
Dreadful customer service
Dreadful customer service, booked a car with GPS when the rental company failed to provide this inclusive with the car and charged a ridiculous extra fee, after a month all Rentalcars.com could offer despite confirming I had booked and paid for GPS already was:
“Thank you for your patient. According to our review, you were offered a tablet for as the GPS equipment when you picked up the the car.
Therefore, GPS was provided by Budget which was included in your booking with us.
On reviewing your final invoice, it appears that you accepted these terms when you picked up the car. As you signed the agreement at the rental counter we cannot dispute these charges on your behalf. Therefore, we won't be able to support you at this time and your case will now be closed.”
Only lies from their customer service
We picked up the car on an agreed time but the rental company was closed. Now they apologies and offered to pay back the rental and let us book a new car, so we did. 3 weeks later still no refund and a very high double pay of the car rental. DONT BOOK WITH THEM!
Awful just don't use them for any…
Awful just don't use them for any reason.
It's a scam and terrible experience
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Rentalcars.com. Despite the cancellation of cars upon pick-up by sixt team my refund has not been processed which they promised within 5 working days leaving me frustrated and dissatisfied. It's been 56 days I am waiting for my refund even after I submitted all relevant documents. I have made more than 25 calls to rentalcars customers service regarding this issue.
This guys have probably one of the most…
This guys have probably one of the most incompetent customer service I experienced. It's rare to write a bad review, but I was so upset after what happened with this 'service'.
So this is the 2nd time I booked from RentalCars. First time was in Feb, 2023 in Funchal, Madeira (Portugal), where I added all the Insurance extras, but in the local when I was picking up the car, I paid the full insurance (extra 100 euros) because this insurance provided by Rentalcars was not recognized.
So this time I booked a new car for Ponta Delgada, Azores, and needed to cancel the booking, because I was not sure about the company I was booking the car. But after check some reviews again, I did the same booking, same price, car, etc, and when I clicked on the CTA to book, nothing happened - no feedback, no email with new booking, nothing,
Then I saw they charged 2x times the same amount of money, and they told me I ll be reimbursed. But I just had been reimbursed for the first reservation. For the second one they told me they have no data/info of that reservation - but ofc, how can I have any reservation number on my side since I got no email or any feedback?
Funny not Funny part: after talking with 10 different people in the customer support, one of them told me that my 2nd reservation number was XXXXXXX and when I checked that number I saw that it belongs to the reservation I did in February 2023 in Madeira, already used 6 months ago. LOL
And today I checked my bank and they took 108 instead 106 and I was reimbursed in 104, so 5 loss. wth? And they told me to check this with my bank? Are you kidding me?
INCOMPETENT SCAMMERS - avoid this scammers
Total Scam .... :-(
The agent Bryan Hegarty said I could not use my own in insurance, that that was illegal, and that insurance was included. When I asked for details on the insurence, he has no idea. Then he tried to sell me an insuranve upgrade which was more that the car rental. I rang the customer service helpline and they also could not provide any insurance details. You are taking a huge risk accepting their insurance, when they cannot provide a policy document. Never again ............... :-(
Readers, I suggest you find a better supplier.
Booked car, paid total price. Requested flight numbers in case of delay, supplied at time of booking. Our incoming flight could not land Gibraltar, were transferred by coach to Malaga to depart. Arrived at Sixt 4:45 minutes after original designated pick up time, were told "there was no car as we were considered a no show". Disgraceful as we had already paid in full. WILL NOT USE RENTALCARS.COM AGAIN. Readers, I suggest you find a better supplier.
Dont use them
Dont use them, if you value your money, sanity and down right pure honesty, rip off car rental company, no help, no internal investigation as to what went wrong. Got my money and wont give it back.
Issue resolved
After complaining about the slowness for responses to my order and e-mail, both issues were fixed the following day
