Our experience with RentSmart24 in…

Our experience with RentSmart24 in Milano was an absolute disaster. Perhaps, no definitely the worst car hire experience. I really wish I had read the reviews about this most terrible company. The damages were very untrue. Customer service did not want to listen to me. Just wanted to make the most money that they could. It's a real scam! Rent smart 24 invents false pretexts to charge totally imaginary damage costs. RENT smart even the company name is a joke! They took my money for no reason. NO INTEGRITY. BE warned. Never again. Shame on you. Just another note: The broker was VIP cars

I hate them

I hate them

When we returned the car, the staff didn’t even check it and told us we could just leave without signing the contract back. They rushed the process and said “don’t worry about it,” which is unacceptable — we had to insist on signing because you never know what could happen later.
When finally after a week they unblocked 600 euros that they had blocked from my credit card and I thought I would no longer have problems with them.
Two months later I received two transactions of 36 euros each for which I had made some fines on the highway. even if that is the case, how will it cost me a total of 72 euros to inform me, this is crazy. The fines have to be paid separately, and their hidden penalties were immediately pulled from my card.. I do not recommend renting a car from them or anywhere else, use public transport

Worst experience ever

I rented a car at Naples Airport with RENTSMART24 and paid in advance. However, when I arrived to collect the car with my family — including my young daughter — I was told I couldn’t have the car because I didn’t have a credit card. This left us stranded at the airport with no vehicle and no help from the company.
When I called to ask for a refund (since I never received the car), I was told that refunds are only possible if you cancel at least 48 hours before pickup. This policy makes no sense, especially when the problem happened at the pickup desk. Even the staff at the Naples counter admitted that this rule about requiring a credit card and refusing alternatives is unreasonable.
To make things worse, I went to Hertz, and they had no issue renting me a car without a credit card — which shows that the policy of this company is unnecessarily strict and not customer-friendly.
Customer service was cold, unhelpful, and completely unwilling to assist.
I strongly do not recommend this company to anyone — especially families or travelers who expect fair treatment and flexibility.

Scam and dishonest practises - imaginary damage

It's a real scam! Rentsmart invents false pretexts to charge totally imaginary damage costs.

This is the first time I've left a review, besides I'm not the type to usually do it, but I want to warn other customers: don't make a reservation with Rentsmart.

DON'T TAKE CAR FROM THEM!

Attention!! First everything was fine, even when I dropped off the car everything was fine but after 4 months they were tried to charge my credit card by some subscription! Luckily bank blocked this transaction and credit card was blocked as well. DON'T TAKE CAR FROM THEM!

Now they are trying use the argument that I have ticket - please provide proofs, please redirect police to me, why you haven't replied on my emails? Why title of charge was subscription not ticket? Why source of this unsuccessful charge was RentSmart24?

Any post-rental charge attempted after several months is typically related to external costs, such as traffic fines or toll violations, which are issued directly by the relevant public authorities and for which we act solely as intermediaries when requested.

In such cases, the amount is charged according to the terms and conditions accepted at the time of rental. These charges are not imposed by RentSmart24, and we strongly recommend verifying the origin of the transaction with your bank. If you received a fine, we advise settling it promptly to remain in good standing with legal authorities.

Absolute scam.

Absolute scam.
Rental and return was fine. But after that charges on the credit card start appearing for admin fee for releasing info to Police for traffic violations. But I have not received any documentation from the police through rental company.
Once I was with my car in Italy, when my leasing got a ticket from the Police I have received full police report with picture etc. This time I was driving very slow to not to get ticket.
Because we have record wideo of the car when taking in it they could not scam us for scratches so they started charging admin fees on the card. I would definitely file complaint with the bank, I have blocked the card and will contact Police in Italy for fraud.

Cancelled booking. Tried to charge extortionate rate.

Because I arrived more than one hour later than when I had booked the car they had cancelled my booking. It’s an airport rental so obviously people will arrive later than they planned to. So when I asked to make a new booking the price was extremely expensive. I found a better price for a car with a different rental company but of course overall the price was higher than if I had booked online. Judging by the other reviews maybe I dodged a bullet!!

NO service - Bad car - Completely unreliable – never again with RentSmart24!

Our experience with RentSmart24 in Verona was an absolute disaster. The rental car broke down after only a few hours due to a mechanical defect. Instead of offering help or a solution, customer service completely abandoned us.

Our travel plans were ruined: no replacement car, all extra costs at our own expense, and we were left stranded for hours. Instead of a comfortable 3-hour drive to the airport, we had to spend over 12 hours travelling by public transport, with no reimbursement or compensation whatsoever.

To make matters even worse, RentSmart24 later sent us a bill for towing costs, even though they had assured us by phone that these costs would not be charged.

In short: totally unreliable company, zero accountability, and absolutely no respect for customers. We will never rent from them again and strongly advise others to stay away.

La nostra esperienza con RentSmart24 a Verona è stata disastrosa. L’auto a noleggio si è guastata dopo appena poche ore di utilizzo a causa di un difetto meccanico. Invece di offrirci assistenza o una soluzione, il servizio clienti ci ha completamente abbandonati.

I nostri piani di viaggio sono andati in fumo: nessuna auto sostitutiva, tutte le spese extra a nostro carico e siamo rimasti letteralmente bloccati per ore. Invece di 3 ore di viaggio comodo verso l’aeroporto, abbiamo dovuto affrontare oltre 12 ore di viaggio con i mezzi pubblici, senza alcun rimborso o compensazione.

Come se non bastasse, RentSmart24 ci ha poi inviato una fattura per i costi di traino, nonostante ci avessero assicurato telefonicamente che tali costi non sarebbero stati addebitati.

In sintesi: azienda totalmente inaffidabile, nessun senso di responsabilità e zero rispetto per i clienti. Non noleggeremo mai più da loro e consigliamo a tutti di evitarli.

RentSmart24 at Verona 5 Star

I rented from RentSmart24 in Verona.
I read the reviews, some of which were off putting. However, when you dig into the detail of the bad reviews they generally involve some aspect of the customer not understanding what to expect at handover, fuel costs, deposits, the processes if things go wrong etc.
I have been renting in Europe 3-4 times a year for maybe 20 years and had some real ups and downs in that time.
Bottom line is that its the people that you deal with that make or break the experience at the collection desk and how they deal with your rental contract and any problems that occur.
RentSmart24 in Verona was 1st class.
A WhatsApp messaging service so you can keep the office updated if you are delayed. Quick 2 way easy coms without stress.
My Son and I hired 2 Corsas that were both well maintained, clean and not badly knocked about like a lot of rental cars out there. Some very minor dents and scratches but very respectable and thankfully without decals plastered on the sides and back advertising the rental company.
The lady at the desk was friendly, very helpful and spoke excellent English.
I would recommend RentSmart24 at Verona for sure.

Terrible experience with your phone…

Terrible experience with your phone customer service.
We asked for a bit of flexibility for a 10–15 minute delay.
Instead, the agent — speaking in an aggressive and arrogant tone — kept repeating that we should “consider ourselves lucky” not to have been left stranded or forced to take a taxi.
Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional attitude.

SCAM company, DO NOT USE

Beware with this company. Absolutely abysmal costumer care coupled with flat out lying regarding the insurance coverage.
Our car's tires were so worn out (in the inside, so invisible at night when renting the car), that the metal wiring was hanging our, completely illegal in the EU. When faced with the facts they denied any responsibility and stated that the tires are in good condition. During a flat tire our communication fell short with them, with us only being able to get an assistance vehicle 18 (!) hours after the accident. The last screw was that they flat our LIED to us about what is in our (locally purchased) insurance coverage. If I dont read it well and show them that the tires are covered they would have taken our entire deposit (for a 40 EUR fix btw). Absolutely disgraceful. Oh btw the Alghero and Caglari RentSmart24 are NOT the same company, so you cant expect any help from them:)

Terrible Experience – False Damage Claim and Dishonest Staff

I returned my rental car in perfect condition, yet the company charged me over €250 for a completely invisible "scratch" on the windshield — a mark that neither I nor anyone else could see or feel, even after carefully checking.
The representative insisted there was damage only he could see, and even used the word "crash" — a ridiculous exaggeration. When I reviewed the original rental form, there was already a mark on the windshield, but he claimed it was “another one” that they “never repaired.” Very suspicious.
To make things worse, the rep gave me a fake name when I asked for his identity — and only admitted it when I caught him.
This feels like a scam, where the company invents fake damage claims to steal money from customers. Absolutely unacceptable, unethical, and unprofessional.
Avoid this company at all costs.

In Olbia pay 30 Euros more and take a trusted vendor

I have rented cars all around the world, but I have never encountered such an impolite and inflexible vendor. When we arrived, Giuseppe immediately told us he could not give us the car because I only had a debit card and not a credit card. Everywhere else, my debit card had always been accepted without issue.We then offered to change the booking so my girlfriend, who had a credit card with her, could be the driver. Giuseppe refused, saying it was not possible to change it in the system. Our original booking service even offered to send him a confirmation email stating they had updated the driver on their end, but he flatly refused to accept any emails.In the end, the only option he gave us was to purchase an expensive additional insurance, which we reluctantly had to pay because it was already getting dark. To top it off, the car we finally received was old and dirty.

75 euros for late pick up

If you book it for 22.30 and pick the car at 23.01 they charge you 24.4 euros for the late checkout plus 75 euros for picking the cat after 11pm.
It doesn't make sense charging almos 100 euros because you get the car late considering the price for renting is around 50 per day.

If you are smart, DO NOT rent with RentSmart24!

Here’s our situation:

We rented a car in Pisa through DiscoverCars, with RentSmart24 as the supplier of the car. €88 for the week, where €38 was the rental rate and €50 the insurance. Fantastic deal!

About one week prior to the rental we had to “check in” with pictures of ID and driver license, AND the incoming flight number. We did.

We arrived on Sunday 14/9, 20h at 20h, as advised.

Called the company for the transfer, as stated in the instructions and were told the reservation could not be found, but were picked up anyway and taken to the company ground / parking lot.

Once there, we were told the following: “Your reservation was at 10h, it is now 20:30h and all reservations are automatically cancelled if the car is not collected within 1 hour after the reservation, so at 11h this morning”.

Checking my booking, it turned out I indeed somehow had booked the car from 10h, but knowing I was flying at 18h from Eindhoven, landing at 20h, AND having provided them with my flight number, this was obviously a mistake from my side AND RentSmart24 knew my arrival time!

We tried to explain this, but the “gentlemen” at RentSmart24 was not interested and refused any cooperation. Only option? A new rental agreement for €295 (rather than €88)!

Having no choice, we accepted.

Today we are 23/9 and 3 days after we returned the car on 20/9 and I receive my invoice.

What do I see:

- rental: €43
- insurance: €45.50

Total again is around €88…

All the rest (€206,50) is “premium coverage”, which I have included in my Mastercard!

Summarized: I was charged (had to drop) my initial rental fee of €88 AND had to pay another €295, which included €206 that I do not need, because I have my own insurance through my credit card company.

This is a pure ripoff!

Be smart and stay away from RentSmart24!!!
