It's established, but the cost of building the app and maintaining it on Replit has risen. There is also not a convenient way to talk to someone for support questions as it is all managed by AI.

Replit just works

Replit is an amazing tool that works out of the box! The UI is very clean, and the fact that you can do everything from creating the app, the database, and deployment within the same application is nifty.

Useful prototyping tool

The ability to build apps quickly was really helpful, and what is also helpful to me is the fact that Replit tells me the technical steps that are being performed. So I can also get a little familiarised with the tech behind products.

One more thing that I like is that there's this URL called replit.com slash usage, and that tells me how many tokens or how many dollars I've spent and how many are left.

Replit has transformed how I build and…

Replit has transformed how I build and deploy SaaS applications. The seamless integration of AI-powered development tools makes designing and building features incredibly fast and intuitive. Ive tested a lot of ai tools, but Replit stands out with with its innovation and ease building out well planned saas apps. If you're serious about SaaS development, this is a must-try tool.

Great Tool, Not cheap

Replit has become a core part of my workflow for quickly turning ideas into working apps, especially when combining it with AI tools to prototype features fast. The browser-based environment, templates, and built-in AI make it easy to go from concept to something testable without a heavy setup or local dev environment. However, there are important trade‑offs to be aware of, especially around reliability and cost. The AI agent can be inconsistent on more complex tasks, sometimes introducing bugs or undoing working code, which means you spend extra time and credits just to correct its mistakes. The newer effort‑based pricing model also means it is easy to burn through credits quickly if you are iterating a lot, which can make sustained development surprisingly expensive.

good app, needs improvement

Final Verdict:
For real apps, don't use this app and hire professionals.

Pro:
It is a tool to test simple ideas, It can definitely make simple ideas and is good for people with no background in tech. Very good for people with zero background experience to explain their ideas or host simple apps/website.
But then there are other apps that can do the same and cheaper. So, I can't say that it is unique but it was the best product comparatively (checked on: September 2025) out there if you want the front end and back end.

You can't make complex apps with it; it is as good as chatgpt or claude code (which is way better to use directly).

Con:
If you don't use your monthly credits than they are wasted at the end of the month. I don't understand what was the point of having credits if we still lose them.
It is also over expensive and to build back end with normal AI model; that may not work at the end.

Personal experience:
Background: I am an engineer and know basics of IT. I can make simple static and very simlpe dynamic websites, but can't make web or mobile apps myself.
My task was to make an app for a client and I had extensive technical requirements available for the app.

I tried making front end and then back end twice, and I also tried making front end and back end togehter, nothing worked.

I wasted above 500€ and replit couldn't connect the back ends of different sections. So, as user, you should probably make mini apps and then connect them yourself (replit couldn't do it for me till the end of september 2025). So it is not suitable for people with no technical background and want to make complex apps.

however, I was always able to make a website for simple ideas on replit and share it with anyone, which was very cool. With the corect prompt, It can tailor make the design, better than many web designers out there.

The videos that you will also see online from their youtube, etc. are for easy basic apps. You don't really need replit for it; also, there is probably an app out there, that you haven't heard about that already does what you want.

Success stories, that I heard, about how replit users are making millions are from people: who are teaching replit to others to show its strength, e.g. fast visualisation of your idea, or less than 1 % of people who were successful with their simple idea.
P.S.
if someone is interested in what I did for the client, I found an open source solution for it.

Good for starting, but needs to become more powerful for serious work

Hello, I have been using Replit on and off for more than 3 months now, mostly for solving problems in bigger projects, learning new languages, and some small web development.

First, the good things (Pros):

Best for Beginners: The biggest plus point is that you can start coding in seconds. No "setup", no installing heavy software. Just open browser and go. For people who are new to coding, this is a life-saver.

"Always On" Feature is Genius: The fact that my web server or bot stays running even after I close the tab is very useful for hosting small demo projects. You don't need to pay for a separate hosting initially.

Community Templates: They have many ready-to-use templates for different frameworks. This saves a lot of time when you want to try something new, like a Flask app or a Discord bot.

Mobile Friendly: Sometimes I make small edits from my phone itself. It's not perfect, but it works in a pinch, which is great.

The updates: It shows live updates on what it is thinking, what it is building or working with explanation which gives a realtime update on your progress also chance to improve prompt for next iterations.

Now, the problems and limitations (Cons):

Too Slow for Big Projects: The main issue. When your project has many files (like node_modules), the editor becomes very slow, hangs, and autocomplete stops working properly. It feels frustrating when you are trying to do real work.

Confusing Pricing: The paid plan is good to start, but the limits (like "Always On" and "Boost") are not very clear. You suddenly get messages that your repl is "asleep". Even after moving to paid plans adding credits feels a bit expensive for what you get, especially for Indian techies.

File Management Could be Better: Managing a lot of files and folders is not as smooth as a proper IDE like VS Code. Searching and moving things around feels clunky.

Sometimes Unreliable: Once in a while, the connection to the runner breaks, or there is some ghost error that gets fixed only after restarting the repl. Support is okay, but solutions take time.

What Replit can Improve (My Suggestions):

Please Focus on Performance: This is the number one request. Make the editor faster and more reliable for medium-to-large projects. Maybe give a bit more power to free users and less consuming of credits when it is just normal chat and agent is actually not coding.

Better Plans for Indians: A proper, affordable indian plan as other platforms is offering would be a huge hit in India. Many of us want to upgrade but find it costly.

Improve the Debugger: The debugging tools are there but are not very intuitive. Making them simpler and more powerful would help a lot.

Clearer Limits: Just tell us simply on the dashboard: "You have used X of Y boosts" or "Your repl will sleep after Z hours of inactivity." Less surprise, more clarity.

Final Verdict: Replit is an excellent learning and prototyping tool. I will still recommend it to any friend who is starting to code. But for serious development or bigger projects, I eventually move my code to VS Code and use other services. If they fix the speed and pricing issues, it can become a 5-star platform for everyone.

Great at app backends, basic frontends

I tried a few platforms, Replit was by far the best and allowed me to make good progress on my project.
The project is an app for my business, scraping information from PDF documents on websites to a database and sending a daily notifications. The only downside is the agent struggles building a pretty UI, other platforms create better-looking apps (not critical for my backend-heavy project).

Outstanding development and hosting platform

Replit is one of the best platforms I’ve ever used for building applications. It’s incredibly easy to work with, yet powerful enough for serious, production-level projects. I especially appreciate the stability, speed, and the ability to deploy applications instantly without any complications.

The community support and continuous improvements make Replit an ideal tool for both professionals and beginners. Thanks to Replit, I’ve saved a significant amount of time developing my own system, and everything runs flawlessly.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and modern development platform.

Replit is an extremely powerful…

Replit is an extremely powerful development platform that makes coding accessible from anywhere. The browser-based IDE, collaborative features, and instant deployment capabilities are impressive. However, the learning curve can be steep for beginners. The interface could benefit from more intuitive onboarding, clearer documentation for first-time users, and simplified setup processes. With better beginner-friendly tutorials and a more guided initial experience, Replit could be truly exceptional for developers at all skill levels.

Absolutely immoral IP theft

Absolutely immoral. They quite literally, without ANY explanation, shut down my account. They stole my domains. They stole about $3,000 in GPU usage I paid for. They did this ONE DAY after I paid their month core subscription 😂 I’m Australian, so this is in massive breach of fair trade laws.

In reviewing their terms and conditions, terms of service etc. I’m not in any breach. So they’re literally doing this because I complained about them double charging me.

Stay away. They’re far from original and far from the best in product. I had simply used them first. I will be suing them as a company, as individuals, basically I have a law suit on my hands now because I used Replit. Replit will quite literally STEAL your intellectual property and Deny it from you. I think for them to be this terrible at their service, then their service is more likely stealing ideas. One of my apps has greater potential than Replit. Larger market and better idea. It’s obvious they’re stealing my idea. Sounds paranoid, but why else would they act like this?

As an absolute non programer

As an absolute non programer, by using Replit I gained many insites about building an app. However I don't feel it was clearly explained when I subscribed that there was the subscription charge which included credits for some usage and then there could be an additional usage charge if I went above the usage included in the subscription. So I have spent quite a bit of time working on a project being concerned that I would be occurring additional charges.Would be very useful to have a visible meter that showed charges that were being generated or if I was still within the usage from the subscription.

Replit Agent has become part of my daily workflow

I use Replit Agent often, and it has become a reliable part of how I code. It handles the routine stuff, gives useful suggestions, and explains errors in a clear way. It also works well when I bring in projects from GitHub or other coding platforms, which makes picking up existing work really easy.

I like that it understands the context of my projects and can jump straight into real tasks. Overall, it has made my workflow smoother and more enjoyable.

TIME SAVED - QUALITY ENHANCED

What is so great about Replit is that it takes the burden off of my team members and allows them to think through the issue before implementing. This saves valuable time and hundreds of dollars. With Replit, I have a team that is nothing less than the best.
