I was contacted by someone on Facebook Marketplace about a car I had for sale. The conversation seemed normal at first – they asked questions and negotiated like a genuine buyer.

However, before proceeding, they insisted that I purchase a vehicle history report from this specific website. They refused to accept any other well-known providers (such as HPI or similar), which immediately raised concerns.

This appears to be a scam where the goal is not to buy the car, but to get the seller to pay for an overpriced report. Once the report is purchased, the “buyer” disappears.

Be very careful if anyone asks you to use this site specifically. A legitimate buyer would either accept standard reports or run their own checks.

DO NO USE THIS SITE OR PUT YOUR BANK DETAILS IN. This site is fraud to get your bank details. Im selling a car on auto trader and a fake car buyer is trying to get me to use this site to get a car history report but it is fake and they only want your bank details. Be very careful do not use if someone send you the link.Looks very convincing and genuine but its a fraudulent site. Please don't buy the report as you will be giving your bank details and it will be used for fraud.

It's a fraud!
They message you that they are interested for your car and tell you that they want to see the report before they see the car, so they ask you to buy this report and then they never message you again.

This is a CAR scam not a laundry company. If you advertise your car for sale you will get a buyer requesting a report for your car, they will eagerly demand you purchase it because they are scared about purchasing your car because things were wrong before. When you disagree their tone will become demanding and then say they deserve you to purchase this for piece of mind. DON'T DO IT IS A SCAM THEY SEND YOU THE LINK AND WILL HAVE ALL OF YOUR DETAILS. I had to block them as it was continuous.
