Confirmed correct size, unusable for cycling, refund refused, Visa chargeback required.

I purchased a Respro Techno™ Mask with Techno Filter (Twin Pack, size XL) for cycling use. I carefully followed their sizing guide and, at their request, provided biometric measurements and photographs. Harrison from Respro Customer Services confirmed in writing that “the mask size XL is suitable for [my] biometric data provided.”
Despite correct sizing, the mask was unusable during actual cycling. The rigid metallic nose bridge caused significant pain and restricted breathing in a normal forward-leaning riding position. Even when adjusted properly, the pressure on the nasal bridge made the product uncomfortable and impractical to use.

I fully cooperated throughout the process by providing measurements, photos, and attempting the adjustments they suggested. Instead of acknowledging the usability issue, I was told the product design has “thirty years of experience” and that it has served marathon runners and firefighters. For giving candid feedback and looking for a solution, I was also told by Harrison that I appeared to be “taking on the position of being a design expert.”

When I requested a return and refund on multiple occasions, the requests were refused. Instead, I was offered accessory-based “solutions” such as adding a head strap, despite the issue being structural pressure from the metallic nose bridge itself, nothing to do with the sizing.

Customer service responses were consistently delayed beyond their stated 24–48 hour timeframe.

When I indicated that I intended to share my experience publicly, Harrison responded with the following:
“Any reviews you subsequently place will be subject to scrutiny for defamatory or incorrect statements and that any remarks that slander the good name of the company will be the subject of legal consideration and action being taken against you.”

At that stage, having exhausted all direct communication and with no refund offered, I initiated a Visa chargeback. After reviewing the documented correspondence and evidence, the dispute was resolved in my favor and I received a full refund.

It is worth noting that similar complaints regarding painful fit, breathing restriction, refund refusal and legal threat-like statements to prevent sharing feedback appear repeatedly in other independent customer reviews.

Based on my experience with both the product and the handling of the complaint, I cannot recommend this brand.

I wish I'd read these reviews before…

I wish I'd read these reviews before buying!
I 100% agree with the negative reviews and feel entirely RIPPED OFF! I can't believe Allergy UK has approved this product. I will never trust their recommendations again. Crazy expensive and badly designed. I have a small head for a female adult and the medium mask only just fits even when using the full extension strap. It feels like wrapping a thick sack over your face and yet it still slips down at every opportunity. I ordered a mask with an upgraded filter but ended up with a standard HEPA filter. Respro responded quickly but refused to accept a return for refund or discount for either the terrible fit or the incorrect filter. NEVER AGAIN! TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. Shame on you for this product!

I bought 2 masks back in 2016

I bought 2 masks back in 2016. We used them for a bit. I just found them again now. The fact that they were basically discarded reflects the fact that the Cinqro masks I bought back then still required more product development. The fit, wrapping around the back of the neck, might seem like it solves a problem, but it is a poor way to fit a mask. The fit is probably the main issue, but in addition they are unnecessarily bulky and expensive. Things may have changed now and they might be better.

Legal action threats & strange accusations.

Stars based more on CS than product.
I have MCAS, this means I need a decent mask that works better than flimsy fabric types but also isn’t a giant rubber one.
It’s stated they don’t offer returns, so to be safe I emailed to check sizes & sent measurements before purchase.
Ordered recommended size, only to find I could get my finger in underneath. Whilst the mask itself is well made, the fit is poor, neck strap is a bad design as it pulls the mask downwards, even worse if you try to talk & pulled against nose leaving indent.
Contacted CS & they requested pics/vids. A lot of back & forth, told me to adjust it this way & that. Offered to send a head support band for free.
Unfortunately, I have nerve problems over my scalp, so can’t tolerate headwear of any kind. This is where the CS really let them down & led to this review.
I requested a return under special circumstances given I had sent in my exact measurements & felt that the mask was too small. This was refused based on their clear advertising ‘no returns’ fair, but I felt they could have made an exception here.
I started to receive pointed emails & for some reason they kept saying I had ‘not’ told them about my health issues prior to purchase, I never said that I had so really don’t know why they fixated on this, I essentially explained I didn’t know where they got that idea from as my health is of no relevance to them when purchasing, but they repeated & the emails became excessively long.
I explained, given they were unable to resolve my issue fairly I would not be able to leave a positive review based on my experience, their response;
“As for reviews, we are obliged to notify you that, any reviews you subsequently place will be subject to scrutiny for defamatory or incorrect statements and that any remarks that slander the good name of the company will be the subject of legal consideration and action being taken against you”
Not the best way to treat a customer.
In the end, I gave the mask to my sister as we share the same face shape. She suffers hayfever, same issue, so she purchased the head strap. Her exp was not much different, too tight over nose, some gaping, strap helped, but connective parts scratch her face & filter made of itchy material & had an odour.
A very expensive mistake on my part given I only work part time due to health complications.
Sadly I cannot recommend this product.
Should a response be left, pls note I still have copies of all emails & therefore this review is neither defamatory, incorrect nor slanderous.

Bad product

Over expensive, badly designed and over bulky. The mask is difficult to breath in and because it fastens under the ears it has a tendency to fall down if engaged in any activity. Respro refused to accept a return for refund, classifying it a 'personal item'. That's despite the fact that it arrived with a broken valve.

Needed help quickly

I needed help for Hyperosmia - an overwhelming enhanced smell condition. Harrison and his team at Respro were very helpful at every stage of my mask choice. Unfortunately, Respro operate online only so Harrison needed to refer me for the purchase of my Respro pollen/chemical filter mask. Outstanding help and follow-up which was truly appreciated. 4 stars is because I prefer to speak with a person - not happy online

I will never, ever, ever buy anything from them again

I ordered a mask from them and used the 'biometric fitting' service, which they specifically instruct you to do to make sure you order the right size and to have free replacement in case the mask does not fit.

After receiving the mask I discovered that it did not fit at all, and contacted support for a replacement.

First, they said I did not use their fitting service, which was a BIG red flag 🚩 considering that my order was placed from the same email address as the request for fitting.

I sent them the answer they provided and then they said the reason they recommended size M was because of the 'eye to chin' measurement, and included an image of 2 wrong ways to measure this, and one correct way.

Based on this new information, I realised that 'eye to chin' actually meant 'eye to some unspecified distance UNDER the chin', and asked them how much should I measure under the chin, because i could not determine this from the image alone.

They answered to measure 'just after the lower jaw bone', concluded that I had no warranty (because my original measurement was wrong) and offered a 50% discount to order again.

At this point I asked why did they ignore the other measurements (specifically height and weight) which, based on their website chart, clearly indicate an L size.

And that absent their recommendation there was no way I would have ordered an M.

Also that they do not publish any warning to take ⚠️ EXTRA SPECIAL CARE ⚠️when talking this 1 out of 6 measurements, because it is the only one that really matters.

That the wording is clearly misleading (my 'eye to chin' distance is exactly what I have sent them).

And that they could have published actual dimensions of the mask and the intervals where this measurement should be for each size.

That there are many ways to help people avoid this problem and they know about it for a long time (I can tell by looking at other reviews here).

But from this moment on I got nowhere with them.

I was basically told that it's my fault and they are generous for giving me such a big discount...

A few other red flags to look for:
- they say they have a 'UK manufacturing base' but the main package has only a few words on it and yet there is a typo... This only happened to me before with Chinese manufacturers.

- other retailers are deducting VAT from their price when selling to EU. They charge the exact same price, but told me it has no VAT included, because it is not listed on the invoice 😄

Bottom line - I could not recommend doing business with them.

PS: it's not the actual problem that bothers me and prevents me from giving more than 1 star (anyone can make mistakes). It is their attitude - they take absolutely NO responsibility and do not accept that they should improve anything, even when many people are complaining about the same thing.

Overpriced and undersized, no customer support

Filter quality: it definitely seems to do the job, filters are very good.
The claims of breathability / ventilation: even at 9 degrees celcius after a few kilometres into my ride my face was sweating, the mask got wet and i felt like i was waterboarded, so i can't imagine riding at 20+ degrees.
Sizing: i did the sizing tests and I got L, but it was definitely too small. If i opened my mouth even a bit - the chin or the nose is outside of the mask and i need to fix it. Nobody cycles with mouth closed all the time. Especially not 30 km commutes. The strap extension (poor design, clearly, maybe got one size fits all base masks and added the extension to make it "L") gave me a rash or it was rubbing.
Customer support: I tried to contact through the customer support email, but got no reply, 10 days later i tried via the sizing support email, i was ghosted too, so not much of a satisfaction guarantee.
Packaging: 3 layers of cardboard for a mask?? Why??? just put in a simple box, reduce the price and good to go - nobody needs such a stupid packaging!

Better buy a proper FFP2 mask for 3€

Let me go from best to worst.

It looks nice and doesn't feel bad and probably filters okay. Unfortunately, it's not worth the price in my opinion and the customer service was very unsatisfactory.

CUSTOMS
No mention of an EU customs payment before ordering. It's written only on a separate information page that you have to specifically look for, or AFTER ordering in the confirmation email at the very end. I had to pay an additional 27% of the order price for customs. Instead of apologising and considering putting a simple notice on the page just BEFORE ordering, the customer service replied in a defensive tone, saying that I could've found out about it on said separate page.

SIZE
I checked the sizing guide and fell within size L. Unfortunately, after receiving the mask, I quickly noticed that if I put it high enough on my nose to prevent it from squishing my nostrils, I can feel airflow through a slit at my chin – i.e., the mask didn't seal and was too small. The customer service sarcastically asked if I had let them confirm my size before ordering, knowing that I hadn't. Although they did try to give me advice on how to position it better, they were unwilling to exchange the unused mask for one in the correct size.

OVERPRICED AND LIKELY INEFFECTIVE
Given the above-mentioned issues, I wanted to make sure that it at least works the way it's supposed to. Considering that the Cinqro mask costs around – about 20 times as much as a high-quality FFP2 mask with valve (e.g., imask for 3€) – the only way to justify that price for me is if I can wear it 20 times as long. This raises the question: what's so special about Respro's filters that the mask can allegedly be worn for up to 69 hours? If it's already below FFP1 when new, how low is the filtration capacity after wearing it for a few times? This is the key aspect for me, since I paid ~60€ (plus ~20€ customs) for a mask that is completely uncertified (or merely FFP1 if you pay even more) and has a similar wearing comfort and looks (imo) than a black FFP2 mask with valve! Once again, the customer service's response was very unsatisfactory. They first implied that I should've gotten their certified version, then they said that their masks are designed for broader purposes than FFP2 masks (whatever that's supposed to explain). After asking for the third time, they implied I get their FFP3 mask.
I also asked what the background of the mask's pricing is, because it's essentially a cut-out piece of neoprene with a filter literally just put inside (almost giving a DIY impression!) and thus must have very low production costs. All they said was that production costs cannot be discussed.

To make the whole conversation even more unproductive and, frankly, impolite, they commented that I should just buy a black FFP2 mask if I don't mind looking like Darth Vader. Ok?!

Lastly, they threatened to take legal action against me if any review that slanders the good name of the company.

Excellent customer service

I bought an ultralight mask from respro to cycle into work but it didn’t really work for a road bike position. True to their word, they helped me try a few things to improve the fit and when those didn’t work they replaced the mask with a sportsta. 5* service, thanks respro!

The Respo Allergy Mask is basically…

The Respo Allergy Mask is basically saving my life. The place I currently live in is full of allergens, and for two months, my allergies have become severe. I suffered constantly—coughing all the time and unable to sleep. My respiratory infection couldn’t heal in this environment due to the allergens.

I got the mask three days ago, and for the first time, I managed to sleep for a few hours without waking up coughing (while wearing the mask). It has been such a relief and is helping me so much. I cannot thank the company or the creator enough!

Thank you so so much!

Fragrance Allergy Help

Over the past decade I’ve developed a fragrance allergy which makes everyday life difficult - perfumed malls, show, classrooms, clinics, homes, etc. became off limits to me. After trying nunberous sokitions, I discovered the Respro chemical/allergy masks maybe a year ago, and I can’t thank the company enough for making life livable again. I highly recommend to anyone who suffers like me ❤️

Poor customer service and law breaking!

We ordered 3 sets of masks to take back to Mumbai along with a load of other stuff online. The order was placed on 5th Dec and the tracking shows they were not with Royal Mail until 11th Dec, arriving at the address 15th Dec. There were some strikes going on around this time but these were the only items we ordered that didn't reach us in time for us travelling back to India.

My friend then returned them on our behalf, the box unopened. Respro then said we could return them and we did so promptly. It was sent on the 21st Dec and it arrived with them on the 22nd Dec. (the kind of delivery I expected to receive the goods in the first place)

They then tell us about their resting fee of 25%. I told them this was against The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 but they have no answer to this.

As of today, 6th Feb, there has been no reply to my emails asking about this and the refund they are due.

I have no comments to make about the product as I never got to use them but the customer service and attitude are next-level awful!

I see they don't publish their TrustPilot score on their website; I wonder why?

I hope this spurs some action!

Respro is a scam

The Ultralight mask is badly designed and a waste of money! Even after sending the measurements to them, it doesn't fit properly. I bought the pro-seal and headstrap to make it a better fit, yet it pushes down on your nose, hurts your face, and doesn't seal properly. Biggest waste of $250 as it is now lying in my cupboard and completely useless. Save your time and money - it's NOT worth the price. They also don't allow you to exchange for a better fit also, even though they guarantee the size if you contact them with your measurements before ordering. They even had the audacity to try and upsell more of their junk accessories to me when I requested a change. Biggest scam ever.

Fantastic mask and customer service (transformational for an asthma sufferer)

I suffer with mild asthma and cycle into work (6km in central London). I bought the Respro ultra light face mask and customer service were extremely prompt in helping me with my measurements. They also sent me a free mask strap which was amazing!!! I am so so impressed with the customer service.

The mask itself has been amazing. It was transformational and I can’t believe I cycled without it to work. Instead of weasing for the rest of the day due to the pollution from the cycle, I have completely clear lungs when I get off the bike. I can’t believe how effective the mask has been! I cannot recommend it enough.

Even without the strap, the mask fits great and stays on no problem, I am a 5 foot 3 petite girl and got a medium. It didn’t get too hot or sweaty in the mask either. buy one, especially if you’re an asthma suffer - best purchase I have made!

Awful company, painful masks, slow and patronising customer service

Awful company, terrible slow and patronising customer service.

I ordered an XL size as per the online guidance for my height. The mask is extremely uncomfortable and the recommendation was way too big. Regardless of the size, due to the design there is constant pressure from the mask tugging down on the face and nose. It squashes my nose and is painful.

Customer service was useless, they advised me to try the mask on and send them pictures, then said I couldn't return it because I tried it on! They hide behind a convenient 'a health and safety' law to refuse returns of their expensive masks, it's ridiculous. It's something you wear on your body - of course you have to be able to try it on for size and be able to return if it clearly does not fit correctly. If safety is such an issue, design the packaging to allow it to be tried on the face without activating the filters. Instead it is folded inside a fragile plastic bag so you have to take it out. Avoid this company like the plague!
