Cant give much really, signing up was easy, but asking for a review on service at this stage seems a bit daft, as when I need help for a claim will be the real test. So 3 stars for easy sign up, if I... See more

Got a fairly decent quote through compare the market and decided to go ahead with the policy but got a call 16 days later (I have noticed they waited until after my cooling period had finished) to say the date of purchase on page 5 of 25 was different to the date I had input for when I bought the car and it would mean a new quote with an extra £114 added on to my policy. When I questioned why of had put down the 21/11/21 when I bought the car and said I had bought it on the 1/6/26 I was told I don’t know, sometimes when they come through from compare the market it happens. Not really a satisfactory answer when I’ve bought a policy and then told I needed to pay more - I have over 20 years no claims as well!! I won’t be renewing and I won’t be recommending

Online live chat
I accessed through the online live chat. I found it very easy to ask my questions and get the response and help I needed. My policy changes were done without any issues or drama.

not the cheapest on the market but very good service and ease of renewing , very professional .
5 Star but cheap
I used Compare the Market along with several other price comparison sites, then ran the results through an AI tool to compare the cheapest options against my existing policy. RIAS came out on top, offering Defaqto 5‑star coverage that was £11 cheaper than what I paid last year and around £150 cheaper than my renewal quote from my previous insurer. It was quite SIMPLES, really.

Very freindly and very helpful . And done in mins 100% use them again i been with them for years

They tried to auto renew with a 36% premium increase, previously increase by small increments. The alternative I obtained at an increment of no more than 4% - and was on the same or better terms. RIAS are adamant that they have quoted you their price and its not open to discussion. Their subsequent public reflection to call them would appear to be an offer without substance. I have given good reviews in the past but a 36% increase is outwith the market.

Confusing to ascertain details of cover
Mismatch in details of cover between summary and documents which is confusing.
Figures may be updated in one place but not in the documents.

Renewal price and talking money from account
My renewal price was £150 more than the previous years price. And, they took the money 5 days in advance of the renewal date!!
Tried to call to cancel and a 30min wait! Cancelled via live chat. Tried to explain why i was cancelling (cost etc) and just got a “thank you for being a customer, do think of us in the future, Goodbye” Pretty dire customer service if you ask me. Do not auto renew!

Not a Helpful procedure
The person contacted at RIAS refused to help me obtain my new insurance.
The company had access to my documents but insisted that I search for my NCB myself.
