with my CARBO X

I have ridden my CARBO X for 2 and a half years. The mileage is over 7000km. I went to various places by CARBO. Especially, I love to ride cycling road along the river. Usually, the outbound route is human power, and the inbound route is CARBO 350W electric power. Both are exciting for me always. The time to go home is very fast, and not get tired. CARBO product design is also cool. Simple design is my favorite. My only concern is maintenance. I have encountered some troubles so far. CARBO team support has always been very helpful promptly. Most parts of CARBO are used common standard same as a road bike. It is not only CARBO original parts, but also I enjoy customizing by exchanging parts. Thanks CARBO team.

CARBO S - my best bike ever

After watching the video review of the CARBO X by an enthusiastic supporter (search for "carbo model x review"), I decided I wanted the bike, but had lots of questions about it. I was able to get in touch with a person using the chat bot that pops up on the ridecarbo site. They were able to answer my questions, convincing me that the company was real, and that they could deliver. I had thought I wanted the X, but the rep passionately explained that for my use case, the S would be more suitable and explained why.

The interaction with customer support really helped me to make the decision to purchase, and I ordered a Model S last week on May 2. The bike was delivered to my door, in a small out-of-the-way town in California, just two days later, on May 4th. Putting it together was not particularly difficult, although I was a bit confused at times--some of the instructions in the getting started guide could do with a revision. The bike came with some mild flaws, screws that needed tightening, and a missing, but non-essential part (they are providing a new part which has been sent out by express mail).

I've ridden it 30 miles so far (having not ridden anything for the last 2 years because I could not handle the hills). The bike seems very robust. I've taken it out in the neighborhood, with lots of steep hills, on the highway, and on some easy trails. Today I stressed it by going up really steep and long hills and into very strong headwinds, in the 20-30 mph range. Very long and steep hills seemed to deplete the battery quickly. Resting it for a while brought it back from zero bars to two bars. In my usual use, I don't anticipate riding the worst of those hills very often--that last trip involved intentionally using the least efficient routes. On the flat or on light grades, I have no trouble riding the bike with the pedal assist turned off. Even with assist I feel like I'm getting a decent workout. The brakes and derailleurs worked flawlessly. My Model S did not come with a torque sensor or hydraulic brakes, but the mechanical brakes are really responsive and it's hard to imagine the hydraulics being better. The bike also came with fenders and a rack. The fenders are fine, and spaced well away from the wheel, unlike bikes I've had in the past. I'm really glad the rack came with the bike: it's very well built and functional. I accepted the bike with default options: customer support told me that would be the quickest way to get the bike.

I am really, really happy with this purchase. The bike is great. I've also had excellent customer support, and I wish the company well. I think they've built an amazing bike.

I have a Carbo S

I have a Carbo S. I love it. Recently I needed a spare part and got great service. The issue was promptly resolved and the spare part required was ordered. I use the Carbo as a means of commuting to avoid the traffic. It is an excellent e bike and I love the fact that I can easily lift it and put it in the car (without folding).

Absolutely awful product

Absolutely awful product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

The after sales support is just awful. Not had a working bike now for over 8 weeks and still no resolution in sight.

Buy a Brompton is the answer I have for you. They may have their faults like all things but I’ve had nothing but support from them when I had an issue on my electric Brompton. Sorted in 1.5weeks with constant updates.

Buying a carbo is like throwing your money in the bin.

I ordered carbo x in February 2021

I ordered carbo x in February 2021. It is July and I still have not received the bike. They always blame to delay to custom. I am afraid I would not receive the bike before the summer ends. The post sale service is terrible.

Poor customer service from Carbo bikes

I had an extremely poor experience of attempting to by a Carbo bike in 2020. I ordered, was promised delivery in 30 days - it actually took over three months to get the bike after a lot of stress, no accurate notification of when the bike would arrive, hardly any communication about the delays, not being able to redirect the delivery as no access to the delivery process, the bike disappearing in the delivery process, me spending hours on the phone to the delivery company and finding out that the bike had been left insecurely in a non bike shop in the wrong city near a former address, Carbo then saying "Sorry it ended that way", before agreeing after my protests to pay for redirection. Finally when the bike arrived, it was the wrong one - the non-UK road legal more powerful version. Carbo gave me a few options at this stage, including trying to encourage me that most EU customers hadn't had issues with illegal bikes and to sign a disclaimer for them not to be responsible if I had any accidents on it. Despite a local shop selling the correct one that I ordered, I could only get a replacement by waiting another few months... so I returned it to the local shop full of new Carbos (albeit at a more expensive price). I decided to cut my ties at this stage as the whole process had caused me more stress than I had had with any other purchase. I was given some discount vouchers along the way to make up for delays etc, but these were taken away when my account was shut when I returned the bike, even though one of the options was to return the bike and get a voucher, not to spend on a new bike, but accessories. Have since bought an Estarli and the customer service has been amazing in comparison.

consider carefully before buying online

I ordered the ebike 3,5 months ago. Still not arrived. It says on the website it takes 45 day to 60 days. Its double that.
But, I have to add that at least the customer service provides me an answer. Yet, they keep telling me the same: It's stuck at German customs.
Which is what I can see myself as well on the tracking link. They dodge the question every time if they made contact with the German customs.

Its a very expensive bike, which I won't recommend spending this amount to something that takes such a long time to arrive. Meanwhile I keep spending money on renting other bikes or taking public transit.
I can't even tell if the quality of the bike is great.
