Just fine, if you like handing over more personal info!

You would think that emailing companies to request deletion of your personal data would be straight forward - please just delete anything associated with this email address! Some companies will oblige without much bother, but others, like the BBC, will respond with a curt and patronising reply as if you were asking for blood. They tell you that your rights aren’t without restrictions! Then they demand you send them your birth certificate and further personal information which they say they will keep for up to 6 years!
Of course, if you really want them to delete your info because you can’t trust them or their data security might be dodgy, the last thing you will want to do is ensure they have all your information!!
Like most rights and freedoms in the UK , it just gives the ‘appearance’ of rights and doing something to sooth the public. Just another way big business gets more of your info under the guise of ‘its for your own good’!
Rightly - If you think I’m going to start sending critical personal information like my birth cert to dozens or hundreds of companies on the internet to help protect my personal information, you must think I’m mad!

With regards to companies that haven't managed to delete your information, it is an unfortunate behavioural trait with certain companies that they will make data deletion as inconvenient as possible for consumers, however, these companies only make up a small minority of organisations on our system.

If you face companies that make things particularly difficult, you can contact the ICO 30 days after submitting your request, for assistance.

Some companies are required by law to hang on to certain bits of information for a period of retention (often up to six years!). This is standard procedure for many businesses, including (but not limited to) banks, gambling companies, dating sites etc. It's always worth asking these companies for a detailed outline of how their retention policy works for peace of mind.

Furthermore, I would like to emphasise that the safety of our users' personal information is paramount to how we operate at Rightly. We've worked incredibly hard to secure our ISO27001 certificate - the highest level of data security accreditation a company can acquire, and are in regular contact with the ICO to ensure our practises are up to date.

Sends deletion requests to everyone - even important emails!!

Over a year later and this website still makes requests on my behalf to delete my data. It doesn't care who it makes requests to either. So far I have had my Tesco Clubcard, Holland & Barratt and Preloved accounts all deleted... losing me £££ in points, vouchers and paid memberships! I do not recommend!

Thank you for getting in touch. 

When you initially use our service, it can sometimes be the case that we haven't yet onboarded certain companies due to the level of demand being significantly lower than others.

When this happens, the requests are queued and are then sent once the company has been onboarded, so don't worry, we aren't sending anything out without your permission, they've just been delayed slightly. 

I would just like to reiterate that we can't send out deletion requests without the company being positively selected by a user. If you've since changed your mind however, I would suggest contacting the companies you wish to keep hold of your information so they can reinstate your accounts.

This company neglected to find any of my insurance policy's, so much for their advert, what an utter waste of space.

This is the first report we've had for this issue, so it would be great to know a little more so we can identify any technical issues that may be present.

May I ask what insurance companies you were hoping to find through the scan, and could you please confirm whether the polices you have were registered using the same email address you used for 'Save'?

Awful customer service - do not use

Awful customer service, please avoid this company. I have sent them an email asking an query, which was ignored. All my follow up emails, asking for a response have also been ignored. Really disappointing.
