Bought a Kawai CN201 bundle for my grandaughter. Arrived the next day but with the wrong coloured piano stool lid. Rimmers immediately changed it for one with a white seat. I'm so glad I dealt with a... See more

Rimmers Music, established in 1978, is one of the UK’s most experienced and trusted piano specialists. Over the years, we have built our reputation on expert advice, careful preparation, and a genuine understanding of the instruments we sell. Today, our focus is entirely on pianos, allowing us to offer a level of knowledge, service and reassurance that only a true specialist can provide. We work with customers across the UK through our piano showrooms, our established website at: www.rimmersmusic.co.uk and our dedicated education sales division, which supports schools, colleges and music services nationwide. We also serve customers through selected online marketplaces where appropriate. We specialise in both new and pre-owned pianos, offering a carefully chosen range of acoustic uprights, grand pianos, digital pianos and portable digital pianos. Every instrument we sell is selected with quality, musical value and long-term satisfaction in mind. Our aim is not simply to sell a piano, but to help each customer choose the right instrument with confidence. Our pre-owned pianos are an especially important part of what we do. We regularly acquire older instruments for restoration and resale, giving well-made pianos a new life and offering customers access to beautifully prepared instruments with character and value. This careful approach also reflects our belief in sustainability and in the lasting worth of a good piano. At Rimmers Music, service is just as important as the instrument itself. Our team is trained regularly and has extensive product knowledge, enabling us to guide customers with clear, honest and practical advice. Whether you are a beginner, an advancing pianist, a teacher, a parent, or a professional musician, we take the time to understand your needs and recommend the most suitable piano for your home, school or performance setting. We also understand that buying a piano often requires a delivery service that is every bit as professional as the sales process. For smaller items, we use trusted delivery partners, and for acoustic upright and grand pianos we provide a specialist delivery and installation service handled by experienced professionals. These instruments are moved, delivered and positioned with the care, attention and expertise they deserve. Alongside piano sales, we have also established Rimmers Music Schools across the UK, where students of all ages receive one-to-one tuition in purpose-built teaching spaces. We offer piano, keyboard and music theory lessons, and we are proud to support students whether they wish to learn for enjoyment or work towards examinations. For added flexibility, we also provide access to our exclusive online lessons. We also offer finance options on qualifying orders, helping customers invest in the right instrument in a way that is manageable and convenient. Above all, Rimmers Music is a piano specialist. We are here to offer knowledgeable guidance, carefully prepared instruments, dependable service and the reassurance that comes from dealing with an established family business with decades of experience.

Rimmers Are The Best
I wanted a decent piano and on the off chance contacted various outlets. I eventually got to Rimmers Music where I was pleasantly surprised when the Britains Got Talent guy Graham Blackledge answered the call. I opted for a very expensive Yamaha CLP 885 in polished ebony. Rimmers Music were fantastic and very helpful, even when I had a few questions after the sale they were there to help and even called me back to see if I was happy. The piano was delivered one week later by professional piano movers who was thorough in the way they took excellent care when installing the piano. I wouldn’t personally go anywhere else after receiving the best customer service I received from Rimmers Music, they are a great Music outlet. If I could give them six stars I would.
Excellent Customer Service
Purchased a piano stool which arrived quickly but was damaged. Contacted Rimmers by email and they replied the next day and arranged a replacement/exchange which arrived a few days later. Would definitely recommend. Great customer service 😊
I bought a Yamaha DGX-670 from Rimmers
I bought a Yamaha DGX-670 after having read many review about. The instrument is exceeding my wildest expectations and was quickly supolied by Rimmers at a very competitive price. I will be using Rimmers in the future as they are a good retailer of these items.
Rimmers Music - Yamaha - Piano Speed - the perfect musical Trio!
The other day I decided to treat myself to the very latest Yamaha CLP 885 pe Clavinova. I am most fortunate to have had a separate Music Studio where my trusty Model M Steinway Grand still resides. This has down outstanding service over the years, especially when I had a much larger teaching practice than I choose to have have now.
But there's still nothing as convenient as having a piano ready at hand indoors, so I decided to replace my previous instrument.
The 885 model ('pe' - in polished ebony) has only just been released and had yet to arrive in the UK from Japan.
I did 'what comes naturally' and simply Googled it, and immediately came up with the name of Rimmers Music. A brief visit to their website, where it gave me an immediate and, I felt, very acceptable quote on my existing instrument in part-exchange, and the deal was done. Furthermore, not only do they deliver the new instrument and stool, but the also take back the old one on the same load. Delivery is basically FREE, too, although I did need to pay a small surcharge because mine wasn't a simple ground-floor access from the car port, but involved a tightish corner, and two sets of steps to negotiate, all of which seems perfectly reasonable.
I was given a date in August for its delivery, so just sat back and waited patiently.
But a couple of days ago, I received a call from the third-party delivery company, who would be delivering my new piano to say that it had just arrived a few days early at Yamaha, and, as the next day just happened to be their regular South West drop-off, would I like it the next day?!?
Initially the call almost sounded too good to be true, and even though it seemed as if I was going to receive a brand new Clavinova as some of prize, a quick call to Rimmers confirmed that everything was in order, and it wasn't some kind of bizarre scam where it's the customer who actually comes out on top!
I was quoted a delivery slot for 9-12 I recall, with the promise of a text to say when they were some 30 minutes away. In the event they were well within the slot, and their 30 minutes' ETA was spot on!
They were from Pianospeed - a company that, unless you're in the concert-giving, recording fields, sit in the wings, but are, in fact, one of the most respected companies in the field in the UK. Full marks here to Rimmers, for not cutting corners, but using only the best people to ensure that, accidents excepted, every large item is delivered in exactly the same condition as it leaves the warehouse.
Today's personnel were a lovely father-and son team who could simply not do enough to ensure that I was 100% happy before they left with the old instrument.
But, over many years, I have come to expect that, when something goes too smoothly, that's when something often rears its little head!
'Have you got the new stool?', I asked... a short silence... and then the realisation that it hadn't paired with the Clavinova, as instrument and stool are sourced separately.
However, it hadn't actually been forgotten, or left waiting at the bus stop, but the accelerated delivery date of the Clavinova and the fact that it happened to appear exactly on the right day of the week, merely meant that the stool was, in fact, definitely on its way!
So the existing stool remained for a day or so, while the boxed new stool very quickly appeared in my front porch, as the Piano Speed delivery team insisted they would return, take the old stool, and assemble the new one, which was an incredible offer of generosity on their part, as I had already received an official gesture of goodwill from Piano Speed themselves.
This has now all been done and dusted and hopefully I'll soon get time to investigate everything the new instrument has to offer.
I cannot thank Rimmers Music too much for their friendly and helpful service, from every member of staff whom I spoke to, as well as their co-owner, who was just opening a further branch in Chester, with a second Scottish branch in Falkirk, to complement their main store in Edinburgh.
In these days when really big concerns are closing branches all over the UK, it completely bucks the trend to see all of Rimmers physical stores in the North West flourishing, as well as their equally thriving internet business, something that often gets the blame for the continuing demise of high street shopping as such!
Rimmers Music must be doing something right, and my recent experiences with them, even as an online purchaser, would, in my opinion, definitely be the 'go to choice' for Musical Instruments and Accessories!
Not forgetting, of course, the vital contribution that Piano Speed made to the whole experience overall.
I had never used Rimmers Music before…
I had never used Rimmers Music before but it was a great service.
I wish I could give them -1 star
I wish I could give them -1 star
They DO NOT check the item they are in the process of selling. No control whatsoever. They sent me a FAULTY violin. We could not move the pegs on it.
Instead of apologising and replacing it they kept blaming me. I ended up winning the dispute with PayPal. Thank God for PayPal. If it was left with this useless customer care crew I was still in possession of a violin that won’t work. Now I only go to Gear4music. I highly recommend them.
Customer service none existent
Customer service none existent. Minimum guitars in stock. Told go on website and look for what I want. Shop is pointless to have with this type of service.
Excellent customer service
I recently had an issue with a setting on a Roland FP30X electric piano that I bought from Rimmers a year ago. I wasn't sure if it was a fault with the instrument or a glitch with the settings (or my ignorance). I emailed Rimmers, and the response was fast and helpful; my email was acknowledged within 1/2 hour and referred to the service team, who within a couple of hours sent me a comprehensive reply detailing what the problem could be and how to solve it. Using this advice I was able to rectify the problem with no further ado.
I cannot fault the fast, helpful and courteous customer service from Rimmers Music - highly recommend.
Purchase of Yamaha Clavinova
We recently purchased a Yamaha Clavinova CLP775 from Rimmers, and the whole process went very smoothly. Having researched the prices online, we contacted them by phone, and dealt with Hedley, who was helpful and businesslike. He informed us that prices for this model were due to rise, but once we had made our decision, he confirmed that the company would keep to the original price.
We paid an additional delivery fee for professional piano movers, which Rimmers organised, and once they had been in contact, the delivery arrived promptly at the appointed time. The drivers phoned when they were about 45 minutes away to give notice.
Altogether, we were very pleased with the service we received, and would be pleased to recommend this company.
Attention: avoid carrier TNT when placing your online order with them
We placed our order online, and our initial experience was great until their chosen carrier, TNT, falsely claimed "the flat was empty" and updated the delivery status to "Receiver refused delivery"! We had been waiting for the packages the whole day; no one called or rang the bell. We contacted both TNT and Rimmers Music, but nothing was achieved. The worst? The delivery failed again the next day! We wasted two days to wait for the parcel to arrive! TNT doesn't give you a delivery window, it only states "arrive by 18:00". It means you simply need to wait the whole day.
Eventually, our only option was to change the delivery address to the office (and for doing so, we were asked to pay again because Paypal's policy doesn't allow the change of address, but the refund was done immediately, though) and move the boxes home ourselves.
To be fair, during the process, Rimmers Music was responsive and helpful even though the situation remained the same. NOTHING they can do to make TNT redeliver the packages. They said TNT was their only carrier partner who could send the large package.
TNT, on the other hand, is horrible.
1. The driver lied about what happened
2. They don't care how much effort you need to do to make yourself available to receive the parcel
TNT is definitely the one to be blamed for the 1-star rating.
Here is the advice: If you plan to place your order with them but the carrier option is TNT and you cannot sit at home and wait for the packages to arrive day after day, then avoid it because the delivery is so unreliable that it became such a huge problem for us to receive the order. We spent tremendous amounts of time communicating with both TNT and Rimmers Music to try to make them deliver the package! It was not worth it for the cost you might save ordering with them. (Hence the 1-star rating).

Great price
Great price, helpful staff and next day delivery…and love the Genos 2
Great piano and delivered on time
Great piano and delivered on time, no problem with the service
Competitive on price, Deal with Integrity, Helpful and prompt in all dealings
I was looking for a Yamaha top-end hybrid Piano (with delivery, bench and PartEx of the old model). An internet search gave a handful of UK suppliers at identical prices.
I engaged each of these options via a website PartEx request. Rimmers Music response was quick and efficient. Contact was Hedley.
For these pianos I learned (via the openness and integrity of Hedley) how the market works and the nature of this price consistency.
Rimmers Music were very flexible and competitive on the whole deal coming back to me several times at my request. They equalled the best deal. However, as importantly, all through this process (and beyond the sale through to the delivery) they dealt with me in a professional and courteous manner (unlike some of their competition who showed a little more contempt for me as the customer).
I got a strong impression Rimmers Music cared about this sale, my experience as a customer and their reputation (e.g they listed a useful video on Youtube showing the benefits of the model I wanted).
Don't just take my word for it, give them a try.
Good price and quick delivery
Bought a keyboard with speakers from…
Bought a keyboard with speakers from their Edinburgh shop. I had no problem with the shop, but with the courier operator they use, which is TNT/Fedex. Apart from the fact, that they split the order and sent to two different delivery depots and as a result one arrived late. Driver never asked me for any of my details nor to sign anything. He made up both PODs. Please change your delivery operator, so the customer knows, where the driver is or have delivery window and does not have to sit at home all day.
Rimmers is brilliant unless you need to return something
Over the years I’ve bought several instruments from Rimmers Music, but this was the first time I’ve had to return something and it was a horrible experience from start to finish.
I purchased an acoustic piano bought directly from the Leyland store for £750 with free delivery from a piano movers called Bambers. It was a beat up piano but I was going to restore it. Unfortunately when it was delivered we realised it was way too heavy for the suspended floor in our home. The delivery company said it was the heaviest upright they’ve ever moved.
I contacted Leyland Rimmers via email several times explaining the urgency to return the piano as it was unsafe where it was, but received no response. Eventually I went through the contact form on the website and got a reply saying returns department would be able to help. Someone at returns emailed me back saying it would be £300 return delivery fee using Bambers piano movers again. I’d already contacted Bambers prior to this and they’d quoted £100. So Rimmers we’re adding a £200 pain in the backside tax for basically organising pickup from our house with Bambers.
After several more emails from me without reply, I was eventually also asked whether I’d bought the piano in store or online. I told them in store at Leyland, to which they replied that I couldn’t have my money back, only in store credit.
So I had to then purchase something I didn’t need or want in order to have not flushed £750 down the drain. At this point I’m now £1050 in with the £300 delivery. So I chose to buy a Roland digital piano to upgrade the one I already had.
All in all, customer service was bad and felt like I’d been taken to the cleaners.
Great experience…
Your staff were very helpful and asnswered all my queries. They made me aware of models which were not always clearly accessible from the website.
I went to Rimmers in Southport this…Don’t bother
I went to Rimmers in Southport this morning in the pouring rain but the shutters were closed. I tried to ring a number that I found on the website but it said about it not being in use! I then found another number that I rang but I had to leave a message with an answering machine, while I was on the train coming back to Liverpool A chap from Rimmers Music rang he said the shop in West Derby Road Liverpool was open. I arrived back home then took the car to Rimmers in West Derby Road, that turned out to a waste of time. I found the chap working there not that helpful as I asked him if he could take the organs of the shelf so I could see them properly he said no. Any way I decided I would by an organ then he said the WiFi in the shop was not working. So all in all I have totally wasted a lot of time and petrol for nothing!! No I would not get involved with this shop again…
Excellent Service!
A first time customer to Rimmers and I have to say excellent experience all around. Bought the new Genos 2 keyboard with stand and speakers and could not be happpier. Ok they all arrived at different times and not altogether which would have been nice, but as soon as the items arrived in store I got an email, they were shipped the very next day and all good. Can’t fault Rimmers 5* all the way.
