I tried to work getting a lower price

I tried to work getting a lower price, and it did not happen.Yes we have the materials, but it does not change the fact of not having a walk in shower. I never thought I would go through so much stress with a company. I pray I do not fall going in the tub we have with a shower. I was hoping for everything to work out better, but it did not. So upsetting, having two guys come in with no permits, then take their time getting permits, and getting a master plumber, and the wrong shower base.

Terrible Experience from RiteWindow

I don't enjoy writing this review, but when I was taken advantage of buy RiteWindow, I knew something had to be said. First let me say that I'm a retired Enginneer and I'm also disabled. After numerous falls getting in and out of the shower, I desided to have a walkin shower installed. I looked into many contractors priced from $7,500 to $24,640. After listening to the highly motivated sales pitch from RiteWindow's salesman, (even though they were the most expensive) I decided that RiteWindow is the contractor for my 60"x32" shower. The finished the actual dimensions were 58"x 30". The salesman was a real pro, telling me how great LuxStone (@ $1600 a sheet) was and how great Kohler top of the line fixtures and accessories are. Nothing could be further from truth ! The salesman showed me his LuxStone sample about 3/8" of an inch thick and nice and glossy. When the contractor was installing the LuxStone sheets, they BROKE TWO sheets. That should let you know of the quality of LuxStone. He also went on to say how EXPERT their HIGHLY TRAINED their Installers are. The first crew that arrived, could not even speak english wearing shorts and one with sandals, (highly trained professionals) from the home store parking lot. When I asked their interpreter if they were illegals, he shot back that he was from this country, (the other two showed to dubious driver licenses and couldn't wait to get back in the truck and leave). A week later another crew arrived and started the project, (the salesman said ONE to TWO days max, It actually took TWO WEEKS). The new crew did a fairly nice job, but they did cut corners. The 36" grab bar and the shower door towel bar in chrome, (per the contract) were substituted in brushed nickel instead, (they looks out of place). They used cheap plastic PEX pipe crimped in place to plumb up the fixtures. They also made a mess through out the same floor as the bathroom (it took days and days to clean up all the grinding dust and silicone smears). They even made a mess of the driveway, using it as a staging area. Another big point was their use of cheap plastic chinese junk for the shower fixtures and accessories, (seat, shelves and some drain componets), look they came right from the home store. The "free" top of the line sliding glass shower door is an absolute joke. It was leaking badly and shook to the point I thought it would break. I have seen many poorly engineered consumer products as an enginneer, but this is one of the worst. I finally got those issues resolved myself after RiteWindow promised help but did nothing. I did get the door seals and deflecters from Kolher and made up lower door tracks for the ends of the doors. An interesting note: The service manager at RiteWindow said that they are aware of the issues with the Kohler sliding glass doors and so is Kohler, but they keep selling these doors anyway. I have seen many complaints about these doors online. When it all come down to cases, I also feel like a fool. The suggested retail price was $24,640 and after $8140 in discounts,(and a free shower door) my cost was $16,500. I trusted RiteWindow to deliver the so called Kohler quality and they did not. After the silcone and seals start to break down, five to ten years (maybe) is all this shower will last. Stay away from RiteWindow and Kohler bath products.

It's just like a bad company that will say that I'm predudiced against someone's race. I did not say or imply anything about the workman not being Caucasians. Apparently, RiteWindow doesn't care about first appearances. The crew arrived, in an old beat up, rusty truck, that looked like it had garbage it. When I checked out the crew, I had major concerns. They spoke no English, which required an interpreter. When asked the interpreter if they were "illegals", they wanted to get in the truck and leave. They looked as professional as trash collectors. Maybe you don't care who comes into your home, I care who comes into mine. I recieved an email from your job scheduler that if there's questions or problems to call her. When I called her(MG), she said it was perfectly understandable and she agreed with me completely about sending another crew. Nothing was said about skin color ! She also said she would schedule another crew A.S.A. P. Even the salesman called and said he would take care of this sistuation. The job took almost TWO weeks, it's not because I wanted another crew. When the work actually started a week later, (B.K. said it was his Good Crew), there was some issues like one the crew taking off, leaving early or going to get parts not to mention two broken sheets of flimsy LuxStone that takes two to handled. The salesman said one or two days for the installation. RiteWindow shouldn't treat their customers like their brainless. Your misinformation is not tolerated or appreciated.

We are very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations. At Rite Window, we set high standards for product quality, installation, and service, and we take every customer concern seriously.

That said, we must firmly address part of your review. We do not tolerate or condone discriminatory or offensive comments directed toward our employees. Our installation teams are skilled professionals, and we are proud of the diverse backgrounds that make up our workforce. Every employee, regardless of language, heritage, or background, deserves to be treated with respect.

It’s also important to note that the delay in your project was not due to workmanship or scheduling on our end, but because you declined to allow the original crew to complete the work and specifically requested that only a Caucasian installer finish the project. Rite Window cannot and will not honor discriminatory requests, which contributed to the extended timeline.

Regarding your installation, we regret that you were dissatisfied with certain aspects of the process and outcome. While we do not have control over manufacturer design issues, we stand behind the work we perform and remain committed to addressing legitimate service concerns when they are brought to us.

We appreciate your feedback, even when it is critical, as it helps us identify where improvements can be made. However, for any future readers of this review, we want to emphasize that Rite Window is committed to delivering professional service, standing behind our work, and treating both customers and employees with fairness and respect.

We shopped around for months

We shopped around for months before deciding on the “Kohler Bath Remodel” product. sold and installed by Rite Window in Woburn. The salesman was well-trained but untruthful Salesman: “The luxstone slabs are very heavy, about 500 lbs, and need two people to carry.” The sample (about 1 square foot) he gave us to look at was crazy thick and heavy. The actual product out of the van, however, was maybe 3/16” in thickness, maybe the thickness of 4 pieces of copy paper, and the whole sheet can be lifted by one person easily with one hand. Score that one as a lie – they show you a product that is purposely different than the actual. Salesman: “We are exclusive to New England, don’t use external contractors, and all installers are ‘our own’”, which to a customer suggests that they are Rite Window employees. Actually, my install was done by contractors – they pulled up in the plain white unlabeled van, and just through general discussions, do lots of different jobs. No issues with the install per se, but also untrue. Salesman: “The glass we use is hotel grade, double thick 3/8 inch, and they weigh 250 lbs each”. The actual was thin grade and maybe 45 lbs at most. My biggest concern going-in was the quality of the fixtures, and the salesman made it known that the fixtures can only be the “top of the line” Koehler fixtures “direct from their Wisconsin plant”. This made me feel better. What actually went-in to the install, however, was a plastic control valve mechanism. So much plastic, that these fixtures are similar to the cheapest possible ones at Home Depot. Not even close to top-of-the-line. The base is a basic 3’X4’ fiberglass piece you can buy right now from home depot.com ($189) and the ceiling is acrylic sheeting. In summary, I have been completely taken advantage of.
The install was good, but the materials are complete garbage so now I have a beautiful home with a cheap and flimsy master shower. You don’t even want to know how much I paid. I think maybe I have something that MIGHT last me 5-10 years. I went in to this thinking I would get a 25 year shower. I am a fool. I paid way too much and got way too little. Stay far away from Rite Window and Kohler Bath Remodel.
